Hello BigApple, could you give me an update on your SL8 clone after a year?
I'm about to buy an SL8 clone frame and I'm undecided between Tantan (TT-X68) and Yohobike.
You said you had to rework/modify some details, could you explain exactly what you did?
Can you confirm that the original SL8 seat post fits the Yohobike clone perfectly?
I ask because I would like to use an original SL8 seatpost and someone told me that the TT-X68 one is different from the original.

Thank in advance

I was informed by Tan Tan that the seatpost wouldn’t work. When I tried my Darimo post from my Genuine SL8, the width was fine, but the thickness was slightly larger.

Why would you want to swap the post? If it’s just for zero offset, you could instead get a slightly shorter handlebar—10–20mm—and move the saddle forward a bit.

Regarding Yoho bikes, personally, I wouldn’t buy a frame from them. I have an X68, but if I had to buy a frame with logos, I would go with Polar Carbon Fibre. I know three people who have purchased their frames, and all of them have been happy so far.

I have a SL8 from Yohobike and when I compare my frame to the X68, I am pretty sure that Yohobike and TanTan share the same manufactor. The bottom bracket on both frames is not even faced compared to the real one. Both seatposts have the identical seatpost with the grip texture at the bottom of it.

I am pretty happy with my frame and for the price I got it with the AliExpress coins + coupon code, I paid 549USD with shipping and no taxes, delivered by UPS (quite surprised about that).

The only downside that I have with YohoBike, it is not their frame but their lack of communication. Once you submit the payment, they act like submarine, disappear for few days, even a week and tell you « ok » and then disappear again. But based on the behavior of TanTan after the fork broke down, I think they are equal. Moreover, TanTan quoted 260$ for Ice Break paint, whereas Yohobike quoted me 100$.

Over the last five years, I've had an SL7 and an SL8 stolen, so I don't want to spend so much money anymore. I want to try a cheap clone and, if possible, use some original parts that I still have at home (seat post, handlebars, wheels, etc.)

I went to order from yohobikes.com to get the SL8, but it would not go through, anyone else have an issue? I also emailed them through their portal and through regular email and no response. Does anyone have better contact information for them?

try whatsapp tom +86 136 7012 0157 I think he is their only serious seller and he responds almost immediately. Last one year, when I needed something, he was very quick both in sending me a replacement part and in sending me the bike.

Just for information, thanks to Serge :
"Edit Oct 7 2024.
As per Avalius on the forum, Yohobike is added to the blacklist. Frame self destructed as BB area cracked when sprinting out of a corner (1st time i hear of spontaneous self destruction of a carbon frame in a VERY LONG time). And Yoho is ghosting him to avoid dealing with warranty"

I can't find "Polar Carbon Fibre" site. Do you have a link?

I ended up ordering a bike from SP-Cycle, the R088 frameset in white. I have gotten 4 other MTB frames all have worked great for me with no issues. I really liked the SL8 replica, but if they can not respond or sell then I had to move on.
Thanks

Do you know if this number is still working? Seeing all your comments and being guided by BeR Sander 2177, who seem to be very knowledgeable about the subject, I've decided to buy a Polar or RK SL8. I'm waiting for both of them to reply.

They don’t seem to be operating, whether that’s fully or just outside china I do not know.
RK said he would open his AliExpress store again in Apri and Polar.
These sellers come and go I would look elsewhere.
