They definitely improved in this point, but did not eliminate the problem entirely. Make sure to sand away a little bit more than you think is necessary! I ran into the problem, that I sanded away just enough to make the battery fit. Once all the cables were installed, it was quite a mess inside the seat tube and the battery didn’t slide straight into the tube, causing it to get stuck again.

I almost finished my build, hope to get the job done this weekend. I had a very big f*ck up with the front brake bolts.

The purple color is really beautiful!
I must admit that I was very hesitant about this color too, but in the end I preferred to have it painted on site.
I can't wait to see the final result.

The colour reminds me of the chocolate brand „Milka“ and I was thinking about putting some dedicated decals on. But I prefer different chocolate…

The full build list is attached, if anybody is interested. I have no scale to measure the full bike, but all components were on my kitchen scale.

Thanks for the tip! I'll make sure to file more than I think I need to and do a test with cables installed.

And that's a fantastic color on your bike, love the satin finish. Can I ask what the color / finish combination was in your order?

The colour is Metallic 3 Matte.

My build is finished, just in time for the rain. So I will do the first test ride tomorrow.

Top tube on mine has been sturdy. At first I thought it was flexy mainly from just squeezing it, but it's held up fine. It was probably me that mentioned the top tube flex, but I was comparing it to my 1150g gravel frame that's just built more beefier. Best way I can describe the R088 is that's it's nimble and compliant. It's the kind of bike you don't notice when riding.

When you receive the frame, check that there's no damage from shipping, make sure you have enough washers on your rear thru axle if it's a conical drive side hole (new production frames should be a flat hole) and to check if the bottom bracket has no spacing issues. Those are like the only issues that have popped up on this thread that I can think of.

On paper I think this is the better frame based on features. The only reason I would opt for the X68 is to own a fake SL8!

I am.in a dilemma between the two as well..what's making you lean towards the Spcycle one?

I've also been lurking around for quite some time and am leaning towards sp-cycle. It has very simillar geometry to my allez sprint from 2017 and I wanted to try wireless shifting and to have a disc brake bike too. For me the only thing that's keeping me back is the paint, because I got used to admiring colourful patterns on other allez sprints and spcycle seem to be quite limited. Do you know if there is a gallery how each aliexpress-available coulour looks like on the bike itself? Or have you tried with custom painting of this frame?

The flexy top tube is a concern for me.  I have an 2014 older Giant TCR advanced SL, and the top tube is stiff AF.  I also have a habit of sitting on it at traffic lights.  Are you able to demonstrate this flexiness and where it occurs?

I'm sure it will be the same with the X68, since the R088 is pretty much the same frame except the head tube. I've thrown everything at my R088 and at this point it's really a non issue. I try to make it a habit not to sit on any frame top tube especially at the sub 800g mark.

I think it's 20, but there's a 0 offset option. I wish they had that 0 offeset option when I bought the bike!
