I'm finding the headset coming loose after my rides. Has anyone experienced this or can give me advice on what I need to do to lock it down better.

Top cap has a spacer under it and isn't touching the plug. I've cleaned everything thoroughly with alcohol. Tried carbon paste on the plug and even on the stem to steer as a last resort but after a ride there is play in the plug looks to have lifted 0.05mm

Thanks

Do you know if the play comes from the bolts which become unscrew ?

My plug came loose after first ride. Tightened to 7nm (was originally 6nm) and applied medium loctite to the plug's bolt. No issues since. I am using a separate stem and handlebar and also for reference this was my first build so installing the plug to 6nm might not be enough/builder error. However can confirm 7nm plus the loctite has stopped headset play arising in the 200km I've ridden since on rough UK roads.

Did anyone set this bike up with mechanical shifting? Would it be possible?

Go several posts back on this thread. Someone built their R088 with mechanical shifting. This frame is equipped with an FD hole. I think it's the only SL8 clone that allows it.

If anyone in Europe (ideally Germany) is interested in an R088 frame – 56 cm in matte silver, feel free to DM me - will make a fair price. Unfortunately, I ordered the wrong size and the frame is already painted 😬 It's expected to arrive in 2–3 weeks.

I order R088 with that colour. I am very curious how will look like on my type of frame.
On Monday they have to send me photos :)

My frame is now on its way and I’m starting to get things ready.

Has anyone used a udh to direct mount adapter successfully with this frame?

Last week I did a group ride with lots of climbing and some good flat sections. The section where the R088 handled only average was on the downhill descent with lots of switchback curves. I was attacking the downhill pretty hard, but I had to ease off on the sharp turns. I have my bike setup somewhat relaxed for distance and climbing, but my older TFSA frame has similar geometry, was slammed and had similar cornering. My other carbon road bike with higher seat stays and fatter tubes (at the expense of weight) handles fast switchbacks much better.

I'm just curious if anyone else notices this when descending fast mountain passes going between the 40-60km plus range? I'm wondering if this is more an issue with Tarmac style geometry?

I tried using one with my ER9 RD, but the UDH direct mount adapter is RD specific (ex: for Shimano, SRAM, etc.). I ended up returning it.

I don’t believe so, you’d just use the b-link included with the derailleur to attach to the udh as with a normal hanger (maybe someone can confirm that because I’ve never used udh, this is just based on the little research I’ve done).

I just wanted to take advantage of DM.
