Spcycle New Mold SP-R088 Carbon Road Frame

I'm seeing mostly basic paint jobs on here. Does anyone have experience with a bit more complex paint designs and adding logo's? I wonder what that process is like and if it's decent quality.

I'm tempted to go for a one part UD carbon gloss look and one part chameleon green. In my head it looks amazing, but if not done properly I rather go for the save (and cheaper) option.

I even complained their basic paint work isn't the greatest from a few years back. Hence why I went with a UD glossy bare carbon. Though I didn't know everyone else would go basic as well!

Anyone tried both the R088 and the R065? Is the aero worth the weight?

Possibly. I rode with cyclists on real SL8 S-Work framesets and they were flying on the flats. Though this week I rode with another cyclist on a Felt AR Advance aero frame. We took turns pulling and I was already gassing out on my R088. Other guy took the pull and did the lead out like it was nothing until we got to the destination.

Haha THAT is what I'm worried about. UD gloss bare carbon looks sick though. Will match my Oiz in blue carbon. I might slap some logo's on it to give it a little pop. Surely they won't screw that up?

Saw that one! That does look good. I didn't see that color in their options on their website & aliexpress. How did you come up with that?
The design I have in mind has two tones so it requires a bit more effort with masking and sanding to make the transition look good and parallel on both sides.

It’s on their aliexpress offer. First I ask them for photos of every painting, where they send to me I. choose that purple. It’s metallic paint nr 12

These are the 160mm Shimano RT-CL900. Just like them better than the Shimano 105 level ones. If you take 160mm brake rotors, you will need to put an adapter at the back for compatibility.

I already have two 160mm SRAM rotors at home...for the rear caliper so do I need to get an adapter to use 160mm rotors?
If so, is it better to buy a 140mm rotor or the adapter? What do you recommend?
I've never used disc brakes on a road bike before.

Exactly. I just like the look of equally sized rotors better. The adapter is just so it fits, I would go two times 160mm.

Is there a mount for a bike computer on the bike? Am I seeing it correctly? And is it attached to the stem? Could I ask what kind of mount it is?

It’s a Deda Superbox + Deda Superbox Garmin mount. It’s clamped between stem and handlebar.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a silent reader here until now, but I got lucky and managed to pick up this frame through the forum. That meant I could make a quick switch from my Rose Pro SL 2020. The build was super straightforward — I was able to transfer all my components except for the bottom bracket. The only minor headache at the moment is the seat clamp and a slipping seatpost, but I’ve tackled it with tape, carbon paste, and Loctite. We’ll see over the next few days if it holds.

On 32 mm tires, the frame feels both fast and comfortable, and it’s a clear step up from my old aluminum frame (which, to be fair, never gave me any trouble either). I’m curious to see how it performs over the coming months, but so far I’m really happy with it.

On my first interval and sweet spot ride, I set quite a few PRs on mostly flat roads. The frame feels super agile, yet completely stable and confidence-inspiring on fast descents.

The 2 guys on Tarmac S-Works frames are crit racers, so their fitness was legit. It was full gas the whole way. I had to draft cars just to catch up to the break away group. In that situation, it was just an endurance test to see who'd break first. Though at the time I wasn't on my R088 frame.

The guy on the Felt AR Advance is a non-racer, but a young/strong rider. His bike build is a full aero setup (deep dish wheels, aero bars, etc.). He didn't have much issue leading us out for several miles/km on the flats. If I was focused on covering longer distances, I might go with something more aero even with a weight penalty.

Took it out on its maiden voyage tonight, just a quick shakedown for 30km. To be honest it didn’t feel that much different to my Condor, it wasn’t exactly mind blowing, but still nice. I wasn’t pushing it though. I’m not trying to say it’s slow or anything, nor am I disappointed, I just think it’s more about the rider than the bike. That said I’m very excited to get back out on it.

Weighs in at around 7.1kg, minus varia + mount, light, saddlebag, computer, bottle.

Specialized Sworks seat post fits a treat and it’s really a lovely thing, glad I got it. The balugoe handlebar is also really nice, stiff enough, but like I said this was an easy ride, I weigh 75kg and I’m not that powerful so ymmv. Got some bigrock cranks on the way hopefully get it sub 7kg.

Looks a nice little build you've put together there.

Just to confirm, the Sworks seat post is an SL8 version? I am tempted to get one for mine or an equivalent. Thanks in advance.
