Spcycle New Mold SP-R088 Carbon Road Frame

The new headset kit arrived yesterday, but unfortunately it doesn't fit either: the end piece where the cables are supposed to pass doesn't fit the ElitaOne/Roval Rapide handlebars (see photo)!  :'(

The kit appears identical to the ones supplied with the Kocevlo integrated handlebars, which, however, feature fully integrated cable routing, unlike the Roval Rapide... the headset cap diameter is 56mm, but the compression ring is slightly too high.

So, I believe there are currently no kits compatible with both the R088 frame and the Roval Rapide handlebar.... This morning I wrote to Spcycle hoping for some suggestions, but otherwise, I think the only solution is to change the handlebars. 

I quickly reread all 65 pages of this thread, and the most commonly used integrated handlebars on the R088 are:

- Lexon Vero/Thin Line
- Balugoe
- Spcycle HB-05

It's a shame that all these models require a two-bolt for support GPS....while I'd like to find a model with a single-bolt front mount, so I can at least use the Magcad Bolt V2 mount specifically for the Roval Rapide handlebars.

Aside from the Lexon models that have a 59mm headset cap, can you tell me the outside diameter of the other caps?

While waiting for a response from Spcycle, I may have found an alternative that might work for me (Ullicyc T-3):

It's basically the same as the handlebar I have now (ElitaOne), but with fully integrated cable routing, and the headset kit looks identical to the last one I bought, so at most it would be a matter of reducing the height of the compression ring.

It's available on Aliexpress in the 440x110 size...I don't really like the geometry and shape, but it could be another alternative.

I'm choosing between a 54 and 56 frame size. I'm leaning toward the 54, but I'm concerned about whether I'll have to extend the seatpost too high, which will result in it fitting too tightly into the frame.

I use an online translator, so there may be inaccuracies.

I think a 54cm frame is going to be too small for you... I'm 175cm with a 83cm inseam and this is my 54cm bike...I think you'd be pretty scrunched up on it. Just my opinion, though. Maybe there's another bike with comparable geometry that you could test ride in person?

From what you wrote, I recommend size 56.
If it helps, I'm 180cm with the same inseam as you (86-87cm), and I got size 56.
I'm still finishing assembling the bike, but the final fit should be like the one you see in the photo (saddle height 76.5cm).

It's hard to advise on that topic. I think both are ok. I'm 178 cm, similar inseam 87 cm. I choose 54 because i was looking for more aggressive fit and nimble bike. I ended with 13 cm handelbar drop (slammed). I'm happy with it but it's not for everyone if you like more relaxed position 56 may be better choice.

I’m hoping to use the R088 frame set in my new build and I now have a few of concerns.
-I can’t find any decent images of the raw carbon matt finish. They all seem pretty glossy. I did ask Spcycles via AliExpress, perhaps they didn’t get through.
- I wanted a 380/100 bar stem, but it appears this needs to be 380/90 or 400/100, shame!
- Do the forks look a bit chunky and non aero?

Are there any pics out there of completed builds and feedback on how the frame rides? Other than the gripes mentioned above.  It looks great and just what I wanted!

I feel even more convinced the R088 is the right choice. I’m planning:
-54 black matt or Jonathan’s gloss clear coat over raw. Unless they do matt or satin over raw? 3rd and final choice, solid Army Green!
- Wheeltop EDS TX grupo, set up 2x12, 11-36 Ztto cassette, hydraulic 160/140 Shimano rotors
- Integrated  SPC 380/90 combo, not the 380/100 I wanted but I’ll try it on the turbo with no brakes to see how it feels. Hopefully meaning I’ll the have complete, compatible headset & spacers even if I do decide to swap it out before doing brakes and using it on the road 🤔
- Non offset seatpost, I tend to ride forward and may balance shorter stem
- Ryet Ultimate wheels,  40 front, 50 rear 1070g 👌
- Lexon 52/36/165 crankset with spider PM
I’ve selected high end AliExpress pedals, bb, pu tubes, aero bottles, mag cages.  But I will go KMC go wax chain, Michelin 240g tyres, Shimano rotors in these crucial areas.
~£2700 GBP, ~6.4kg ex pedals, bottles & cages ~6.7kg all in. Allowing ~150g for frame hardware and paint I didn’t previously add in. If I can hit or get below the UCI 6.8kg limit, ‘on the road’ it will be epic at that budget! Pressing the button this weekend hopefully 🤞

The 11.11 sale ends on the 19th and hopefully you'll get the same coupon deals during the Black Friday sale. So I'd either buy before the 19th or wait to purchase the frame during Black Friday if you want those coupon savings. After that the next big coupon sale will be during the AliEx Summer sale.

I was able to hit 6.8kg with power meter, pedals, computer mount, chain catcher and bottle cages. I'm using fairly budget components as well (LTwoo v1 ER9, RYET saddle, Onirii/Thinkr pedals, etc.). Depending on which wheelset, tires and components I use, I usually hover around 6.9-7.3kg. I also really like the non-offset seat post option. It adds way more rider flexibility to the frame.
