Just following up on this post. I think I've put on about 1700 miles on these shoes. Probably about 2/3 of the time on the rollers indoors. The rest outdoors in temps ranging from about 40° to 80° F. Been very comfy. Very stiff. The buckles ratchet correctly. Overall I'm very impressed with the shoes. And I'm not saying that they are great for the price, I'm saying they are great shoes. Of course it's only 6 months in so I can't say anything about longevity.

Second followup: I think I put about 3000 more miles on the shoes, did a lot of virtual riding over the past winter. The shoes are still doing great. My only issue is that the plastic coating on the ATOP closure wire was wearing off the top wire where it entered the ratchet (both shoes). The plastic would get jammed in the ratchet system and sometimes wouldn't open without a lot of force. I ended up cutting the plastic off for that section and it has been fine since. I did order a replacement set of wires in case they fray or break. I may end up buying a spare ratchet as well. The parts are pretty inexpensive. So still factoring those in you really can't beat the price.

Rather than those I would recommend Santic, you also spend a little less https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005008012722872.html?

I swear I haven't bought any more silly Chinese shoes since my last post, but has anyone tried
https://santic.com/products/santic-ti-tech-titanium-alloy-outsole-road-shoes?variant=49171637731565 ? Is a titanium sole actually all that? Also, looks like they're pretty narrow?

I have shoes from sidebike (model 028) with carbon soles und 2 boa style mechanism. Im happy with the shoes especially as i only paid 130 Euro for them.
I wanted to buy a pair this summer from santic but ther prices double and are nor more interesting. Last year the shoe i wanted was sold for 145 with coupouns and now it costs 288 :o .

So at the moment i'd rather go with sidebike.

yes i had both. the 028 is more premium build (boa style lock is better e.g.). I prefer the 028

Are the 028 true to size or run small? My foot is 286mm so I would need a 45sz (290mm).... on paper. Whats it like in real life figures? Also, whats the width of the actual insert / sole?

I have the sidebike sd017 variant and they’ve held up quite well after a year. I do recommend! Fits tts

I've never heard of this brand to be honest. They seem well-made, but there aren't many reviews. I recommend Santic. You have both the "expensive" model https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005009393122272.html and the cheaper model https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005008012722872.html. Both are excellent shoes.

Pretty sure someone posted about these here before and that they were absolute garbage and nothing like the Bonts. From what I recall the posted commented that they were very flexy and not wide at all.
