Interesting. I’m taking a few things away from this:

1. Cannondale is using Nm/deg for head tube stiffness and N/mm for BB stiffness -> they’re testing torsional stiffness at the head tube and lateral stiffness at the bottom bracket.
2. The significant difference in absolute values compared to LC strongly suggests that Cannondale is using a different testing protocol, especially for the BB. The head tube test could be similar, but without fixture details we can’t be sure. Given that the Cannondale frame is quite a bit lighter, lower stiffness values would not be unexpected.
3. We still don’t really know what the LC values are telling us, since the unit of measure and test definition are not known.

I absolutely agree with you.

I’m just trying to keep the topic current and hopefully fill in any blanks when new data is made available.

Does anyone know what is the price of just the HBR017 handlebar?

What size/model are those Shawl tires?

They are Schwalbe One 365 winter tires in 32 mm with RideNow TPU tube setup. They offer slightly more puncture protection and good wet weather performance, and have reflective sidewalls for the dark season. However, they are not fast, so I will switch to Pirelli PZero in 32 or 35 mm for the summer.

Regarding the discussion of stiffness measurements: German Roadbike magazine just measured some Chinese bikes for the first time (Seka Spear, Tavelo Arrow, Winspace Milemaster M6) and added Rose Xlite for comparison. I added the values of the LCR018 as found in this thread.

ModelHead Tube StiffnessBB Stiffness
LCR018-D (no storage)117185
Rose Xlite81114
Winspace Milemaster M679109
Tavelo Arrow6690
Seka Spear4864

So, for me it is clear, I agree to NB87: different testing protocol, we don't really know what the LC values are telling us.

I think the conclusion is only partially correct — LightCarbon does actually publish parts of their testing protocol:

https://www.lightcarbon.com/testing-process_n23

From that page we know their stiffness tests are based on lateral deflection under load (N/mm), with defined lever arms (~250 mm head tube, ~260 mm BB) and minimum thresholds (100 N/mm head / 120 N/mm BB).

So the values are grounded in real structural testing — not purely marketing.

However, direct comparison with Roadbike magazine (or other labs) is still problematic because stiffness numbers depend heavily on fixture design, load position, and measurement method. Even using the same unit, different protocols can produce very different absolute values.

Most likely the published LC figures (117 / 185) are normalized indices derived from internal N/mm measurements — useful for comparing LC frames internally, but not 1:1 vs other brands.

I agree, Abreu.T, very valid. I did not want to make the point that LightCarbon pulls the values out of thin air, just that they are not useful for a direct comparison to other brands. And that is of course what we would like.

Do we know the maximum system weight for the frame?

I wanted to use a ZTTO 12 speed 11-36 cassette for my build but I saw this video yesterday from TraceVelo.

Are there any alternatives? 12 speed 11-36 HG?

uhhhmm doens't look good.
I have that one with 11-speed and it looks like they just added one more gear with the same structure to the cassette on the 12-speed one.
On the 11-speed one, only the biggest one is connect with the small 2,5mm² pillars.

Goldix ULT steel cassette. Works like a charm. Those ztto with aluminum cogs are crap

Just use one piece steel cassettes. Aluminium for cassettes is crap and not worth weight savings anyways.

Ordered a 52cm a few days ago. What's the recommended tool for BB install? I ordered the ceramic BB option with the frame.
