on flat roads and downhills it feels (and is, according to Strava-segements) quite a bit faster than a non-aero-gravel-bike.

Hi, what stem is this - did you get it with the frame? I am thinking of building up this frame, possibly very similar to your build, but unsure of what aftermarket stem options exists?

FYI I was quoted a price reduction of $60 if I forego the bar/stem.

it's the carbon stem that comes with the frame when you order the seperate bar/stem.

Rear yeah but the front I believe you're stuck to 160

Those are the "bad" 2.0 Race Kings. A 2.2 definitely won’t fit in the rear.

I was hoping for more clearance so I could run 2.2 Dubnitals — but that’s just not happening.

That said, the bike rides really well.
I’ll keep my eyes open for a frame with more tire clearance in the future.

The chainring is a 48T.

Received my frame and quickly installed the BB to check what chainring fits.

I run a 50t passquest narrow-wide chainring on a shimano road crank (Ultegra/105 R8000/R7000). It barely fits! Nothing I encourage anyone to do as it is without any safety margin, but it works. So any other crank/chainring combination up to 50t should be fine. 48t for sure.

Did not measure, but bought the version that does not say "3mm offset". So, should be the standard version.

Yep, that's a 0-offset, so mounts in the big ring position (I wrote to them and asked specifically about this a while ago). Considering you're using an 11 sp road crank, that should put your chainline somewhere around 47.5 which is still very good for a 50T on a gravel bike. That's exactly SRAM wide chainline, for reference GRX 1x is actually wider at around 49.

EU owners - How long did you wait for your shipment from the moment it was sent until it was delivered?

Any feedback on the general quality of Velobuild's paint jobs? If I'm pulling the trigger on this frame I'm not getting another black frame, so I will get it painted no matter what  Only curious if it's better to just go for a standard one color paint than to try to be adventurous (I realize this probably have been answered over time in many other topics, but bear with me, I'm a new user that have lurked for some time).

My feedback on the paint jobs after having had a number of painted VB frames is that for the cost, you can't beat it and for a relatively small price you get a custom paint job that can really set your bike apart.


On the design front just be very clear on what you want, include links, photos, colour numbers, ask for mock ups and give feedback. Don't make any assumptions.


On the quality, they can scratch fairly easy, which hasn't been a deal breaker for me but spraying on a clear coat after getting the frame could be a quick solution I may try next.

Slowly and surely the build is coming along, not the tires I will likely end on and I am going to try to see if the p505 will fit but overall very happy with the ease of build and comfort.

Ltwoo erx 1st gen, but since it has the same setup as di2, it would work just fine. Battery fits in the seatpost fine. The front cable guide hole seems like it would be way to small for any cables to go through so I have some electrical tape covering the hole.
