Mondince new 2026 Aero Gravel

Hi again, so my wife’s 316 is on its way, but now I’ve got the bug and want to replace my tideace as I find it a bit too aggressive. I sized down in that frame to a Large, usually I ride xl frames at 188cm.

I’m trying to decide between the large and xl 316. I’ve attached comparison of my road bike Spcycle r088 XL with 110 stem. (I’m actually replacing that with another frame as it’s slightly too aggressive too). I’m using xy Calc but comparing traditional geo with progressive is a little tricky I find. 316 is XL and has a 70mm stem in this.

At 188cm I would never in my life think about getting a XL or 58cm+ bike and for reference my gravel bike is a Yoeleo G20 in Large with 100mm stem, thats almost too big. I see a LOT of people here get bikes a size too big for them.... no idea why.

Interesting! I think based on the Large 316 with a short stem I’d be too crunched up.

At least two bikes posted here have Thunderburts installed, one on ZIPP XPLRs. So it fit, albeit tightly

I had no clearance problems with Thunderburt 2.1, which measured 51mm mounted on some Elite rims. I am not sure how it would hold up in wet conditions and mud with a lot of clay, but I did not get build-up in wet conditions over "normal" mud.

I have been having problems with brake rub on the front brake. The brake is perfectly aligned at lower tensions on the lower brake caliper bolt, but when increased to 4-5 Nm, it would throw off the alignment and the brake would rub. I could not fix it myself. I finally brought it to my local bike shop and they tried everything, including facing the brake mounts. They are pretty sure that an imperfection in the fork, near the thru axle insert, is causing the problem.

The good news is that Jack was very quick to reply and offered to cover the fork under warranty, even though he has never heard such an issue with their forks (which is reassuring since it does not seem to be a generalized issue).

I am just waiting for them to paint it and ship it over. I am only covering the shipping cost. It's a win in my books!

That’s honestly really good customer service, comparing it to the posts in SpCycle G028 thread where people have to fight with them over steerer layup quality 😂.

I'm 186cm but with very long legs 94.5cm inseam. I have the Yoeleo G21 Altera in size L / 56 and I wish I had gone with a 58 as the stack is much better and wouldn't have so much seat post sticking out. Depends on your overall measurements not just the height.

Also my wingspan is 197cm I'm running a 110mm stem. I would run the same stem on the 58 frame as it's only 3mm more reach.

To be honest I’m not sure the forward/progressive geometry is going to be any good for my quadriceps insertion tendinopathy, so I might actually give this frame a miss. Would love to hear recommendations for more endurance focused geometries than the tideace gv201

If you want more endurance focused geometry then look at the longer forked version, the FM326. Imo it gives a better compromise for proper off road use than most other Chinese frames.

Jack has offered me a good deal on a 326 with “old 420 fork”, were there issues with that fork?

Still 3 mm of clearance with Thunderburts on Zipp XPLR wheels which have very wide IW. That's a win for me.

Hi on my size S FM316, how much spacer height should I account for before cutting the fork steerer to be on the safe side ?

It doesn't have the flip chip and I think the tyre clearance might be very slightly less. I ordered mine when it was released so I've got the original fork. It rides how I expected and there's plenty of clearance for a 53mm WAM tyre

Thanks, I placed my order with Jack. Standard off white colour size Large. Will try running a 100mm stem which will match the effective reach of my gv201 just with a load more stack which is what I’m after.

Would you guys trust Mondince to do a quite intricate decal job? I've got some decals I want on the frame, but I'm not sure if I should order a frame without clear coat and do the decals myself. Then have a local shop do the clearcoat after that. What do you guys think?
