Good experiences with Aliexpress handlebar tape?
« on: August 18, 2025, 10:38:23 PM »
I ended up buying a Riderace and a West Biking bar tape because of the price, but they were pretty meh tbh. They also wore out pretty fast, so it wasn't really worth it in the end.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent, good quality bar tape? I'm willing to spent a bit more this time, I've had enough of the cheap stuff.

I'm quite happy with the Bucklos handlebar tape I bought. Wrapped quite easily, very comfy, grippy. ~$7-9 depending upon which one you buy.

I've had good luck with the Bucklos tape and also the Supacaz lookalike tape. I prefer the supacaz style tape and recently replaced a set when i did some maintenance but it could easily have gone a few thousand more miles.

Edit:

Supacaz "style" that I've used several times now with good luck. I ordered some more to keep in my parts bin - https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807643432366.html

If you like Supercaz tape, this seems to be the real thing at 1/3 US retail (I've bought it a couple times). https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805054249956.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.82.5ca818025V27DZ&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

The various sellers of PU tape that looks like Cinelli Caledio - also pretty nice, not as durable as actual Cinelli but very close.

I have this EVA bartape grom OG Evkin. Pretty good and very close to big brands. The grip is slightly worse, though

I recently bought this tape because a friend in my group was using it. It looks pretty cheap, it doesn't even have a brand name, but after using it for a while, it feels pretty comfortable on the drops, and its texture is quite non-slip. I would buy it again.

This is actually my favorite tape, I run it on most of my bikes. One thing I have noticed is the double sided tape sucks on all the Ali bar tape. It usually pulls off some of the foam, this one is more of a cloth so it’s not much of a problem & it’s stretchy so you can pull it nice and tight.

I used ESI RCT wrap for a number of years. It's a silicone tape that is smooth but grippy and you can vary the amount of cushion/firmness by how tightly you wrap it. ESI was expensive and they are discontinuing it cause it's getting more expensive to make.

This Onrii tape is a great replacement for it. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806793112696.html

It's textured on one side, but besides that it's very similar. Been a few months and I'm liking it very much.

Riderace

I'm actually a fan, seems pretty durable and wrapped well
Maybe I got unlucky, my riderace one started to desintegrate after 3 months or so

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I'm going to order a few different brands to test

Avoid this one anyway

I got the green accented one to go with green bike accents. While it looks nice, its probably about the slippiest tape I've ever used. Removed after one ride.
