Aliexpress gravel wheels with microspline hubs
« on: November 10, 2025, 05:39:53 AM »
I'm looking to buy a set of gravel wheels on the 11.11 sale on Aliexpress (good prices and good coupons) but I have a hard time finding many offerings with MS hubs (which I need as I have 1x12 GRX).

Elitewheels has their XPLR option but I'm not convinced (really it's based on the frequent comments about Zipps XPLR wheels and punctures).

This question is basically in two parts - reliable wheels that can be bought from Aliexpress? And if anyone knows any specific ones that are offered with MS freehub.

I have the Elite XPLR wheels, now with Goodyear semi slick 45mm gravel tyres. Ridden around 450-500km on them and have had no punctures/side wall issues. These come with the usual freehub offerings.

For a slightly cheaper price I bought the Tagoola XPLR wheels. I have not ridden them yet as they're going ony XMCS Grevil inspired bike build. The reason I chose these is unlike the Elites they will change the spoke nipples to brass if requested free of charge. They are also around GBP 80-90 cheaper than the Elite wheels. They offer MS freehub. Today with shipping and VAT price adjustment (I am in UK), they are GBP474. I think tomorrow if my maths is right with coupons they will be around GBP400-410, seemingly very good value for money.

Good recommendation. I’ve seen them on AliExpress but didn’t know if they were well regarded or not.

When requesting the change to brass nipples - how do you go about that? Just message them after the order or is there some special way? I’ve never done a ”custom” order thru AliExpress before

I add it to the order notes and contact them to 'double confirm' via the 'message seller' option.

There's a thread in the road section on Tagoola wheels, I believe I saw some have already been using their xplr clone wheels. Might be worth dropping them a DM for real world feedback if they've ridden them.

The elite ENT-Gravel and the road version ENT-Disc are not sold with the MSR freewheel but you can get the MSR freehub separately (also from Elite)

I'm using the SLR-Gravel wheels from Elite, also with MSR Freewheel that i got separately for my GRX 12 speed.
