Lightcarbon LCR020 35c clearance aero frame

For those disappointed by the recent pricing changes, I would encourage looking at the brand new thread (literally a few hours ago) about the 35mm clearance ICAN aero race bike. I will certainly be learning more about ICAN's bikes due to this development.

If I ever choose this frame, i'll make the colorway complicated af lol.

That's outright sneaky tactics by lightcarbon, why can't they be upfront about the price increase rather than spin some BS story.

Yeah, the way they are going about this isn’t going to help them at all.
I get it - they are new to dealing with the public and quickly realising all the hassle that that entails compared to B2B.
It would have been far better to increase the price of the frame by $200 and offer simple paint schemes in the price - it’s still a crazy cheap frame considering their quality.

The way they are going about it is all wrong - feels like a trick and would honestly put me off, even though I still think the frame is worth the money.

It's more like an extra $900 once you add bars, paint and shipping to make it equivalent.

They are either forcing a LIGHTCARBON logo on the frame ( + $300 for added logos?? What?!)

Or forcing us to pay $300 for literally NOTHING if you want it unbranded.

this might be a bit of a misunderstanding/translation problem, since Lucas asked for raw carbon and unbranded option.

in my business, i have dealings with chinese suppliers and the (auto) translation hurdle sometimes results in weird and inconculsive conversations

I really hope so too. But I doubt it;  "There's no option without US$300 fee. It's our new policy."

The Hongfu Avenger R8-RS feels like the actual alternative in this bracket. It's around $200 more than an LCR020 and you get:
  Paint included
  TT / tri builds and ski-bar options
  Full build option or groupsets at reasonable prices
AND
  Actual published wind tunnel data, comparable to Y1RS. The faster one depends on weighing yaw angles.
  (Yes it was only a validation run, but to validate the CFD done. Something we get zero of from LC's camp. I am in the market for an aero bike, not an aero-looking bike)

But this is 500USD more than the original price of the 020...

Sad to see what looked like the goldilocks option get watered down like this.
Hope to see Mondince, Velobuild, and even Tantan step up to fill that gap and not try to be cost leaders.

The only issue that I have with Avenger R8Rs is its 73 degree STA on my size. Other than that, it would've been on my first list since I like the design.

Dark17: Yeah Iam on a same boat, just because of that STA I would simply not be able to put saddle where I want it on Avenger, otherwise I think it would on top of my list.

 LCR020 has pretty much perfect geo for me so decision made for me

LCR020 is also the best option for me with its price compared to quick pro and XMCS. Yishun R033 is down on the list because of 32C clearance and we're on 35C meta now. ICAN looks compelling though but we don't know the price yet. Thing is, I might just get this frame and get a complicated colorway so that $300 paint would be worth it. Thinking of something like Mazda's soul red color and some fancy marble or crystal effect lol

That's not the way I read the situation, we know that lightcarbon outsource their painting so it doesn't make sense to offer it for free. The custom paint option was and still is an additional fee on top of the base spec. There is now an ADDITIONAL $300 charge because they mandated that all frames must come with a lightcarbon logo - yes they are saying it costs them $300 to slap on a logo. And the worst thing.........if you don't want a logo, it will still cost you an extra $300......for what ?

This would have gone down easier if they called a spade, a spade. I hope I am wrong.
