Just did a 100km gravel race on thus frame and thought I’d share my thoughts. The race day was incredibly muddy and overall a nightmare for gravel racing, but I’m pleased to report the bike performed flawlessly without any issues.

I’ve ridden about 800km on the bike so far and the only problem I’ve encountered is with the headset. It needed redoing a couple of times due to play but Chris from Velobuild suggested adding extra grease around the provided C-Ring. This worked and I had no headset problems during the race. However, I ordered a different C-Ring as suggested by another poster and plan to swap it out to see if there’s any difference.

The frame is XL and weighs 9kg, as shown in the photo, minus all the extra mud!

Overall, I’m very happy with the frame. The headset issue is disappointing but for the price I can’t really complain. Chris was also very responsive on WhatsApp even after the purchase when I had questions about torque specs and other details.

I’m happy with the frame and would definitely recommend it. It’s a bit heavier than I expected but I like to think that means it’s sturdier… hahah!

Hi yall,
so I had headset play for 1 year. Tryed little 0.25 mm C-shims  as suggested here and also tryed better and longer expander plug (DEDA) without any success. I decided to buy  a different Compression C-ring  on aliexpress(see picture). Now it works perfectly. I chose the 7.3 mm but maybe the 6.3 mm could have been ok too. Just dont use the C-ring provided with the frame. Chris from Velobuild discarded the issue saying the issue with previous frame was solved few years ago despite many people on this forum with similar issue. I can confirm the new C-ring provided by velobuild with this frameset is not really better. Too stiff maybe.

Anyhow, problem solved and can finally ride the bike!

Hi all, I am quite tall (2m), usually have no big issues with tops, but when I need to wear something on my legs it’s always too short. So I’m looking at bibshorts currently, I have a pair of Isadore Alternative bibs in size L, which are nice and long enough. But I want to test out some aliexpress bibs, do you guys recommend any bibs that have longer inseam?

I am 194cm tall, 97kg

Darvie 4XL is almost perfect except the shoulder straps are not as comfortable as the YKYWBike straps. Darvie ones are little short…

YKYWBike in 3XL - Almost perfect but the opening around the legs is a little too wide, if it was 1cm smaller it would be perfect. I really like them super comfortable and amazing quality of the price so I’ll take them to the seamstress to see if they can make the leg openings a little tighter

Hmm the frame sizes are pretty small based on the 2026-2027 LC Catalog; bit concerned that the XL size might be too small. My current gravel bike is a 56cm but LC XL is 53.6cm… I’m 194cm tall. Any thoughts ?

Unfortunately I had the star ratchet break apart during a gravel ride recently. It left me stranded 50km from town. Luckily I had a friend with me and I could still coast on the bike down hill.

I contacted CSC they were apologetic and sent a replacement kit ratchet, springs, spacers etc (should arrive this week).

I don’t trust their ratchets now so I’ve ordered ZTTO ratchet and gone for 18T so there’s more surface area for load transfer under torque.

Hopefully it’s just an isolated incident. The rims themselves are perfectly fine at this stage.

So my frame has arrived and the build will start in coming weeks. X65 Frame in XXL (560) - ordered early December - arrived last week (4th Feb 26) So about 8 weeks in all. No customs or duty when delivered to Ireland.

I got some Helix Elite Wheels to go with it, a Pass Quest Chainring and Magene Power Meter. Plan is a X1 setup as its a build specifically for a 24hr race I'm doing in summer and its laps around a car race track, so no climbing. Also probably just gonna use cable brakes connected to ZTTO or ONRI hydrolic callipers paired with LTWOO GR9 1x 11 (because I already have it) - simple and basic but thats all I need for this project. A cable based system might be easier to repair on the day if I have an issues.
The facing on the BB and the brake mounts seems a lot better than the last frame I got (GR201) but I haven't actually fully bolted everything on yet and gone riding so time will tell a better story.
I'm not a big fan of the saddle mount system, I'm sure I'll get used to it, but straight away there is no way the RYET saddle I bought for this build will fit. No matter what I tried their is no enough room between the saddle rail and the saddle to fit the upper part of the clamp system.
So thats the inital thoughts. Paint job is very good almost all over, but woudln't pass QC at a high end brand. A few aeras could be better but not enough for me personally to be bothered - you kinda get what you pay for I guess. And no one is realisticly gonna notice in day to day use.
I'm gonna do the livery on the downtube myself as I didn't want what I'm putting there to be there permanently after I'm fnished the race in the summer.

Some silver circualr shims arrived with it that fit the steering tube perfectly - but I'm not sure where they are supposed to go. SO if anyone can shed any light that would be great.

I ordered mine via the Serap Ali Store on Jan 6 for XXL x65. Still waiting for it to be dispatched. Last update I got was it was in paint stage and the Rep said there are delays because there have been so many orders
