There are "bike computer" apps available on Google Play store for Android.

Run one on an old or cheap Android phone.

What's the advantage of a dedicated device running an obsolete version of Android.

Better sunlight screen maybe?

Quote from: Konajra on October 23, 2026, 10:33:04 AMwhat I don't get is, why he mounted 3cm of spacers underneath a riser handlebar????

Because not every rider needs or wants or can be comfortable in an "aggressive" riding position

I plan to do the same.

The video explains the reason for its build - unknown owner.

Quote from: gribs on October 22, 2026, 11:29:21 AMIf you really want low gears then an 11-42 cassette will work with that setup and allow you to spin up nearly any road.

The GRX rear derailleur doesn't have the total capacity for an 11-42 cassette with a 2x front.

My existing (crappy) bike has a lowest gear of  28:32 = 0.88, then 28:28 = 1

The planned setup for the LCR018D gives me two gears less than 1.  Should get me up what I need to get up.
30:36 = 0.83
30:32 = 0.94
30:28 = 1.07

On the top end my existing bike gives me 48:12 = 4 while the planned set up gives me 46:11 = 4.18

I'm looking forward to opening up new routes and covering more distance faster.

Quote from: JensenMacD on October 21, 2026, 08:37:53 AMI hope you enjoy your frame too! How do you plan to build it up?

Here's the major component list.

My choices reflect:
  • I'm old, so not very flexible and with limited power to work with
  • I live in a basin surrounded by mountains.

Almost all the major components are here on the shelf, just waiting for the frame.
Hopefully I'll get it built while there's still some nice weather before winter arrives.

QuoteLightCarbon LCR018 - 2,850 km Owner Review

Thanks for the detailed review.  Your bike looks great!

My frame is due in early November.  Hope I'm as happy as you.

These two (actually seem to be the same) just showed up on Ali.

Some DIY trigonometry or CAD required to figure out the actual rise they give at different stem lengths. They claim 25 mm rise, but it's obviously going to be a function of the stem length. I can't understand why the Chinese bar companies can't produce a clear, easy to understand drawing.  For me, that really takes away confidence in their design engineering ability.

Is there a way on this forum to hide ugly URL's with a friendly label?

What is the usual response time from Light Carbon? I sent them an e-mail 10 days ago to ask about the frame and wheelset, and I still haven't gotten a response.

When I first contacted them I tried:

  • The "contact us" web form on their site.  It gave me an error.
  • Email.  Never answered.
  • Whatsapp.  Reasonably prompt responses from Jim.

During our Whatsapp dialog Jim said he never received any emails from me, including my initial inquiry, and some followups with concept colorways.

So, my recommendation is contact them via Whatsapp.

I've also received the Ullicyc T5.  I can't understand the T4 drawing*, so I won't try to compare them.  The T5 appears to match its drawing, which gives me the extra rise I need when sketched in CAD.

They seem plenty stiff.

I am a bit disappointed in the overall quality.

The outside, at first glance, looks very nice.  Looking closer, there's various sharp edges at the cable openings that will need some fettling.

Looking at the inside with a borescope shows various bits of fiber loose and what I think is a very resin rich area where the stem meets the bar.  I'll admit to never have before looked inside a set of carbon bars for comparison.

The T4 drawing shows a 7 degree stem angle, that's visually just shy of 90 degrees, measured from an apparently random reference line.

What's your objection to the G028?

Just curious.

Got my order in today.

Now for the waiting.  Jim says expect it in early November.

looks nice and fresh...
btw: what tool have you used for the rendering?

Thanks.
I used Google Gemini Notebook to make the rendering.  It's ok for concepts, but useless if you try to make small changes to details.

Here's a version with a crisper detail at the color transitions.  I needed to make final tweaks with MS Paint, so it's not as clean as the first concept.

That's what they say, but pay attention to the downward angle of the stem.
The stem is angled sharply downwards, effectively cancelling out the rise of the handlebar.
Compared to other riser bars, this one seems the least effective to me.

Ah, yeah.  You're right.

I'm ready to place an order.  Slightly annoyed with LightCarbon's lack of responsiveness, but from what I read that's just the way things are.

Comments on my concept colorway welcome.

This isn't raised; it just has a Y-shape, but if you look closely at the technical drawing and the profile, you can see that it isn't raised.

If you look closer you'll see 20mm lift.

I have a Toseek integrated bar setup from Aliexpress on my LCR018-D.

Spacers that come with it fit no problem.

Thanks, that's useful to know.

We're looking for handlebars that provide additional rise, either with a positive stem angle, or gull-wing.  Unfortunately Toseek doesn't have this (yet?).
