XMCS update for my SSE; 58/65 mm, 26 mm inner width, with 20 spokes. Love it!

Took a little more effort to get these speced and ordered. I think the Campy Hub body through an added challenge.

This will be going on a Neo-Retro steal frame.

I did purchase and receive few weeks ago some 50 deep with 26IW with CX ray spokes with R248 hub in UD paintless.
They weight 1250g and feel very light on the bike.
Unfortunately, since I mounted this new wheels I'm experiencing a problem with my front brake (Ultegra 8170Di2 on a Lightcarbon LCR018 frame).
My front brake is sometime making a loud metallic noise while braking (not necessary on strong braking). This never happen before mounting these new wheels.
What is also strange is that it's sporadic : on some ride, I don't have noise for 2 first hours and then it start.
I did few trials to identify the origine of this noise and it seems to be related with the front wheel.
When I put back my old wheel (reinstalling the same disk) I have no problem.
I did try to install a new disk and new pads without solving the issue.
I did also try to use new resin pad (instead of metallic pad) + other disc without resolving the issue.
The disk is tightened with a torquewrench at the right torque (40Nm).
Do any of you experience this issue ?
I don't really understand what could cause this : do you have an idea ?
I will also continue to try making other test (maybe test them on my other bike).
I'm not feeling vibration while I'm braking but the noise is realy not nice and I'm not confident going downhill with this phenomenon.

Hi, a quick question for those of you who ordered XCMS wheels without spoke holes. Any issues? Do you regret it? i I have ordered my 3rd set of wheels from Peter, a gravel set, and may change to no spoke holes. I have run tubeless for years so not havng to use tape would be a bonus. Cheers, Bob

Did you realign the caliper? When I swap wheelsets I have to do this because of slight differences in the hub tolerances that move the discs slightly.

Thank you for your reply.
Yes I did it but no improvement.

Hi,

I bought a set of these wheels(Link #1)and need a replacement freehub body. I read somewhere that DT Swiss 180/240/350 might be compatible as long as its the ratchet version (with exception for EXP version). Can anyone confirm that they work for my wheelset?

Will the freehub body in link #2work? If not, can anyone link a specific XDR freehub body that works?
Thanks in advance

I can now confirm that these are compatible.

Been riding my wheels for 280k during the last 3 days and I'm loving them. Matte clearcoated weighing in at 615+725g.

Hi, I'm interested in ordering some XMCS wheels but wondering what's the best way to order it from? Is it the website or mailing them directly? Website seems like the obvious choice but seeing a lot of you in this thread looks like go the email route. Hence why I'm wondering

I used WhatsApp and that went smoothly. I assume you get quicker responses than e-mail as well.

Anyone else have this wobble "issue" with their wheel?

In the bike

same wheel in my truing stand.

These are new wheels, has about 60 miles on them.  After the first ride I checked the wheels and found this wobble, it's on the front wheel only and the rear appears to be fine.  What's odd is the wheel is still true, and the spokes tension is still even and consistent, only the inner part of the wheel has this wobble.

I spoke to Peter and he said it's normal.  He mentioned because of the ultralight carbon layup, the spokes can pull and deform the carbon to make this wobble.

Wheel model is
D58CU-33 26mm IW T1100 with HS606 hubs and 3.2mm carbon spokes.  Weight is 1165g.

System weight is about 75kg.

You guys have any thoughts on this and does anyone else have this issue on their wheel??

Also, why doesn't the rear wheel have this issue as well?

Peter told me to post in the forum as others have mentioned this? where?

I have the same problem on the rear wheel, but mines are from Light Bicycle. So I guess there might be some truth in Peter's words.

I actually noticed this the other day and was confused for a second until i checked the trueness of the wheel at the rim edge and found it to be good. I believe it's normal
