Crazy stupid Craigslist finds

This dude seems honest. It's just that no-one told him that he will never get back the money he has invested in the bike. I can only see a museum picking this bike 20 years ago, this bike would have been the top of the range, now it's as useless as a curved 85 inch 4K TV screen to a blind guy

As I mentioned some time ago, what happens to this guy applies to us as well. Chiner bikes are "cheap" to built but the resell value is very low. If you decide to drop a lot of cash in wheels, drivetrain, components on a Chiner frame then you end up with a fantastic bike to ride but you should not try to sell it then! Just ride it

I definitely agree with this. I always try to remember that and plan accordingly. One of the main reasons my daughters build is with the intention of swapping just the frame in the future. I won't be selling the complete bike.

haha.. oh man.. poor guy has no clue! Looks like he definitely kept it in good shape though.. gotta give him credit.

Like bxcc said.. buy quality components and swap them out to new frames. It can be hard to do though when tech and trends change so fast sometimes.

Well, that applies, to some extent anyway, to the overpriced brand name carbon frames too.  And I mean the low re-sell value, not them being cheap to build, of course. No one can ever know for sure whether the seller is totally honest with the usual claims of the bike/frame been "never raced, never involved in a crash" etc. I personally would rather buy a brand new "chiner" frame (inching slowly to that point even if it will probably be a road frame) than a used big-name frame.

Despite the claimed rareness, at $8,000, I doubt there are any buyers on Craigslist for that one.
