Bhaalgorn's "Budget" CS-057 Build

I recently built up a CS-057 using mostly spare (** indicates spare) or budget/used parts from eBay, Craigslist, Aliexpress, etc. Though I did kind of splurge on building a custom carbon wheelset.  

Total cost is currently $2,334.48 (includes shipping and tax, price will go down when I sell some things I bought bundled together).

Current weight is just under 22lbs with pedals and bottle cage.

Good job on the build. You didn't spend too much but still have a very nice bike that should last a long time. If I remember correctly, you spent almost exactly what I spent on my 057 build but ended up with a nicer overall build (carbon wheels, fox fork, etc).. Impressive budgeting skills!

What is the little black ring around the shifter cable before it enters the frame ?
I saw it as well on the Jagwire site, but no information there.

I think what you're referring to is actually a part of the frame. If you check pictures of other cs057s it should be the same. I did put a jagwire cable end, but that's hidden. I didn't end up running full-length housing but may in the future.

That's just a rubber piece included with the Jagwire Mountain Pro Shift kit to prevent cable rub on the frame. No idea what Jagwire calls it.

You can call them: JagWire cable frame protectors.

Take care with your stem.
One guy on a french forum had the same and his handlebar was moving by 4 to 5 cm on the extremity due do the lack of stiffness of this carbon stem.

I was super anxious about it at first, but its been rock solid.

Hammered on this B A D B O Y E for about 4 hours on Saturday. 34 miles through the woods. Everything was perfect, but at about mile 24 I started hearing some clicking and noticed my rear wheel wasn't dished correctly. "Oh well," I thought. "I'll fix that when I get home. Not like I can do it now!"

I finished the ride, loaded my bike up, drove home and hung the bike up. When I went out to the garage the next day to redish the wheel and problem shoot the clicking noise, I was extremely surprised to find what I found.

The two screws that hold on the derailleur hanger completely fell out! The entire derailleur hanger was just sitting there, held only by the thru axle and chain tension. I have no idea how I was able to ride 10 miles over some pretty rough terrain, but thankfully nothing else broke as a result. I bought some spare hangers with the frame and they came with screws, so I hit them with some Blue Locktite and put them back. Wheel was perfect and the clicking was gone, of course.
