Okay guys, thought I'd post an update:
On 5/22 I went in for surgery to repair the broken collar bone (clavicle). I was hoping they would be able to insert a flexible rod, however the bone was in too many pieces so they needed to go with a plate and screws, like what was done on my leg. Here I thought having metal in my leg was enough, I have now doubled that amount.
On the plus side, there is no cast and I only needed to wear a sling for about a week after surgery. Today I got the staples removed and am allowed to raise my elbow up to 90deg. Things ache a bit but the pain is far better than before the surgery. More good news is the surgeon was able to get everything back into perfect alignment with no gaps and after another two weeks the the bones should begin to fuse. 2-4 weeks after that the bones will be completely healed.
The hardware is intended to stay in forever. So now in my collarbone I have eleven screws and one plate, in my leg eight screws, a plate, and a toggle. That is a bunch of metal!
