UDH direct mount hanger
« on: September 17, 2024, 06:42:27 AM »
Hey there!

has anyone seen a udh compatible direct mount hanger on aliexpress? wheels manufacturing offers one https://wheelsmfg.com/derailleur-hangers/universal-derailleur-hangers/derailleur-hanger-562.html, but it's rather pricy.

I plan on using a shimano groupset on a road frameset that features a udh hanger and can't stand the look of udh + b-link...

I've used several from ali. IME using with DuraAce they slowly bent with use and required periodic adjustment. I was worried about the fatigue of the cheap aluminum and switched to using a more expensive one.

I think SRAM sell them for 15 or 18 bucks, no? If i understood it correctly, the UDH comes from SRAM, not that you need to use a SRAM RD, or buy a SRAM hanger.
Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.

thanks, but that's the "standard" udh hanger (in this case for mtbs). i'm looking for a direct mount version of this

Ah. then i need a masterclass on UDH. If UDH on MTB & road are not the same, then it's not universal. In fact if it's got the same "universal" name, but it's not the same thing, it's rather 'tarded. Especially as gravel is blurring the lines between road and mtb, especially with sram coming up with stuff that's increasingly cross compatible, if you spend 500$ on a cassette and 3000 on a derailleur.
I'm confused now :)

What OP is looking for is a direct mount hanger (so to replace the top link that you'd see on a Shimano derailleur) that is made for bikes that use a UDH.

Silca make such a product (see the one for Shimano):

I looked for a cheaper alternative a little while ago on AliExpress but couldn't find one.

I'm curious would a UDH direct mount hanger actually be more durable from falls and bumps compared to other direct mount hangers?

i've found one last night: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007725054515.html

but out of the 3 options i'd still go with the one linked in my first post on this topic since i'm not willing to pay the silca premium

for bumps from the front yes, since udh is designed to rotate, for everything else i doubt it. but i think udh hangers will be more accessible to buy than the ones used on chiner bikes
