Wow! another complete spinoff regarding the tariffs that I just read about. Shipping container bookings out of China and other Asian countries have dropped by 60%. Due to massive order cancellations by US companies, and China restricting export of many goods. March and April shipping container deliveries were up by around 25% as US companies prepared for the Tariffs to take effect in May.
How does this impact the USA? 2 huge impacts one hasn't heard about in our mainstream news.
1. With 60% fewer cargo ships unloading in USA ports, this means 60% fewer ships transporting American goods to other countries. More competition for few ships = huge increased in per container shipping costs. (Remember Covid? Container shipping went from $3K per container to $10K)
2. With so many ships impacted, it is predicted that many ships will be taken out of service for "Maintenance" - Happened during Covid times. The removal of so many ships from the global fleet will impact many other countries. Canada, Mexico, South America, because many of these ships transport US goods to other countries on there way back to Asia.
