If you go to an LBS with your bottom bearing, they will probably have one, and may be even place it for you.

If you don't want to go full-bore with a Chris King, the Cane Creek 40 does well on these and is what I have on my 057 build.

What chainstay protector fits the 057? I like the Shimano pro carbon look one, but not sure if fits. Like the Lizard skin too!  Measured the chainstay circumference on my frame, it's roughly 3-3/8 to 4-1/2

I used color matched electrical tape 

With a clutch derailer, it's not as critical to have stuff all over the chainstay.  I rode with a buddy Saturday who has an older bike, and I swear I could hear his chain slapping from 30 feet away.

Oh lol. So your saying with the new XT Derailleur it may not have much chain slap if any?  Maybe I could put some clear protective tape just to be safe.

I used handlebar tape in carbon look. Cheap, good looking and very protective!

Yeah, you still want something on there for protection, maybe two layers if you are using a very thin clear packing tape.  I would try the clear tape first, just so it doesn't cover your design.  Keep an eye on it when you wash/maintain the bike to be sure that it isn't getting dinged.  Mine has been fine, but if you start seeing damage you can change to a thicker protector.

Even with the new XT, if you are on the smaller sprockets the chain will probably slap on a shaky terrain.
At least it does on my kid's bike.

My chain slaps the top of the chainstay when I'm in the smallest cog.

Yeah was thinking it could slap. Now I'm thinking two layers of packing tape not enough. But I've seen some thicker tapes, they are just expensive.

I have the Lizard Skins medium, but the large might be better fit.



I actually like the look of the Lezyne guard better, but they didn't have them in stock at my LBS when I did my build.

I ordered the Lizard skins clear stick on type, comes with two frame patches. Think I'll purchase some packing tape for areas like shoe rub, cable rub, and bottom of down tube.
