After The Ride / Re: Forum name?

Is Chinatown offensive?
Although I don't really know what "Chiner" is supposed to mean in this context though..

It comes from 29er I think.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Bearings

Headsets(bottom) and BB bearings tend to die whatever their quality, as I ride in the wet.
The cheap ones from Aliexpress are fine for that. And I change them when dead.

All other bearings for wheels, pedals and pivots, either SKF or Enduro depending on the online price and availability.

If you live in Benelux you may look at https://www.kogellager-express.nl/
EDIT: I just saw the £... but it may help others

If it can help you in a way.
I'm 10cm shorter than you, but just 2cm inseam less.
And I'm with a M with a 60mm integrated stem/bar.

With an XL, your saddle will be much lower than me in the frame, the reach is just 45mm longer than M.
So if you select a shorter stem, you get even more flexibility to fit the bike well.

Same thing happened when I asked about a specific color.  Just their stock ones in glossy or matte or the chameleon color.

Alas... few years ago they were coming with their limited colors, but were ok to paint it in any color.
Other builders still do.

Here you go

In general they can do any color you want, as long as you provide the right Pantone or RAL reference.
Here is a sheet with Pantone ones: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UZ6UEuG95xwcYVxeFkX9yzxlZV7NgETX8P8weUrZIV4/edit?usp=sharing

Beware your screen will show a color differently than the real one.

Look for a color you like, and then search pictures with the reference on the web.
To see items painted in that color. Again this is false colors, but it gives a better idea.

And the best is to look at physical color chart in a paint shop for instance.

Then you can draw patterns, add sequins, or a metallic effect, etc. at extra cost.

Maiden voyage completed:  8)
Lovely !! :D

I would really like to know one day what's behind all these frames. As here, the front is the FM936.
Are they designed by some western brands or Chinese designers ?
Are there many molds and building sites ?
I'm with this for 7 years now, and it is still an opaque cloud.

Hey, has anyone asked them to paint handlebars?
They can paint anything, bars, stems and seatposts.

Interesting! Anything workable for road bikes /flat mount? Couldn't find any..

Learned recently that the ZRACE ones fade quite quickly when getting hot.
So I just ordered the ZTTO https://a.aliexpress.com/_mO7ZXwl
to try on a budget gravel.
Hybrid cable actuated + hydro end.
Looking forward for the first Sensah fully hydraulic !

Was the same for me. A bit scared of going out of my comfort zone.
But last year I took the plunge. And have built 4 FM936 so far.
You have all the skills already.
Read here the whole thread of the frame you want to build.
And youtube and google will fill the gaps.

Sorry for being vague. I guess it depends on your definition of “modern” :-D. My current cheapo steel frame is a bit of an abomination with horizontal dropouts with IS brake mounts with longer slots. It’s a nightmare to get the rear wheel to stay in place, even ;-)

I guess I should have listened when they said it was really for a town bike (that’s what I’ll convert it to))

Ah ok, I thought for a moment the gravel were turning boost  ;D

3. I think you will need an adapter (FM 160>140) to fit the 140mm disc
...

With flatmount brakes. You always have an adapter for the front, that can be in a 140mm position, or reversed for a 160mm.
Generally it comes with the brakeset.
For the rear, 140mm does not need an adapter.
And need one if you go 160mm.

Even if you are light, a 160mm front is safer if you ride fast 8)

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Glasses

You can find good Foakleys on Ali: Like EV Zero, Path, etc.

Search for: cycling glasses
Sorting the list by price descending.
And looking between $19 and $17
Around page 45 as I tried today, for instance that one looks to be one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002324865234.html
Look for the one with the box, multiple lenses, a cloth, etc... they are generally the good ones, but check well the pictures.

The listings are quickly shut down, but there are always new ones.
Once riding, someone told about my glasses to an Oakley seller, he inspected them and was shocked by the quality.

Then I sometimes replace the lenses with these, that are very strong and clear:

I wear these too, that are clear and extremely light:

Did you ask ICAN ? They can probably send you a couple, shipping is cheap for small packages.
