Go for the BSA. And take a Shimano 1x10 setup (or the new 1x11 setup). In case of the 1x10 setup you could go for the 42T of OneUp. And replace the 15T and 17T with a 16T. And as chainring a 32T or 34T. And at the rear the 142 axle. Dropper not needed. You're building a XC mtb.

Ideally it would be fantastic to share a spreadsheet where we have a  bike frame, model and manufacturer and 3 columns  with Good, Better, Best with detailed descriptions (and links) to all the components instead of having to spend hours browsing every post.
Nice idea! Can't wait to review.

Definitely Matt. I'll use your list as a reference... can you paste it in a message or attach it as an editable file?
What is recommended for the back suspension?
And should I write down the links where the parts are the cheapest?

Having worked with companies in China before and then working with Peter, I have learned you really have to be very very specific with what you want. When I placed my order I made sure to tell them EXACTLY what I wanted including specifications for the seat post etc. Then I made them put it in an invoice as well. I think a lot of people feel like companies in China are really trying to screw them over but their culture is just so different. Combine that with the language issues and things can really get screwed up fast.
nevertheless it could go wrong.
They send me the wrong wheelset. I asked for red hubs and red nipples, but they sent me black. Got it all in my email. But it was an hassle to get it right.

Hi Paolo, welcome !

I can advise you to take the BSA as BB. Also 142, it's more common. And 3k or UD, it's up to you. UD is just matte black, 3k has some carbon weaves visible.

About a build list ... please take a look at this forum, there're many buildlist (for example my own build list, see my signature).

I've got the same IP-HR930C carbon wheels and I really like them.

You can order spare parts also in the eShop of Novatec: http://www.eshop.novatecwheels.eu/category/spare-parts/axles-and-side-caps/

Whow, didn't know this was a common (and accepted) problem.

Did a search on internet and found that Novatec have a ABG ( Anti Bite Guard ) version of this hub:

"The D772SB uses the new 4-Pawl freehub from Novatec ensuring fast and secure engagement, every time.
This freehub includes the ABG feature to prevent damage to the 7075 alloy freehub body.
"

If I'm going to replace my freehub, I'll go for this one.

Yes, I hope Peter can get those parts and more. I've got a issue with my freehub ( http://chinertown.com/index.php?topic=569 )

Component Deals & Selection / Novatech freehub issue
« on: April 20, 2015, 02:48:27 PM »
This weekend I did a good clean of my wheelset and found some unexpected wear on the freehub of my Novatec D772SB (front D771SB). I've got these hubs now for about 8 months and I cannot believe this supposed to be in this short time. Some cogs damaged the freehub. It looks like Novatech made the freehub of soft material or is this a production failure ?

Anybody knows if there's a stronger freehub available ?

Carbon Grip?  Been there.  Clear Poly?  Done that.
Do it again. I used hair spray to make the seatpost a little bit thicker. Three layers was enough. And now, after 8 month, still no problems. I'm using the same seatclamp as you. First cleanup your seatpost and frame, than the extra clearcoat/hairspray, than carbon paste. And please, don't tighten the seatclamp to much, have respect for the nm (max 4nm).

Am I too fat?  Entirely possible.  Getting awfully frustrating.
No, you aren't!

Anyone have any experience with replacing axles on Novatec hubs - specifically doing a quick release to thru-axle conversion?

Judging by this video, it's super easy:

But I would need the conversion axle, which means finding someone who sells it.

What complicates things is that this is for the D202SB fat bike hub, and those aren't quite as common as the normal "slim" MTB offerings. :)

Plus, I'd love to see if I could find an aluminum freehub - the fatty hub is steel and I use good cassettes so I don't need it.
I've got the D772sb and yes, it's that simple.

And for the D202sb it looks the same

Yep, load times are much better for me too.
Off course it is  ;D, the website is located in the USA (Missouri - North Kansas City - Dsc). Told Peter to choose a web hoster with fast internet. And here in the Netherlands, it's pretty fast.

The bottom bearing of my headset(a cane creek 40) seized with the rust a month or so ago.
The main bearing on the Lefty developed some serious play.
And I'm on my 3rd pair of BB bearings.

I will never buy expensive bearings for these parts anymore.
I was disappointed initially, but bearings are cheap after all.

I've never changed any of these on my Cannondale Rush...
The bottom bracket in the IP-256 has some drain holes, so, no water and dirt is left in the BB. And yesterday I take a look in the BB and it was clean and dry.

Don't know why the BB bearings are wearing that much. I think it's my own fault, cleaning to much with soap and water and maybe using direct (hard) water on the BB.

Because of a creaking crank, yesterday I took the time to maintain of all the bearings on my bike.
I disassembled the headset and the bottom bracket. Remove all the sealing rings of the ring bearings. Cleaned it with WD40 and then with an air-compressor. Re greased it. Put the sealing rings back. And assembled it all again. And now the bike is silent again. But I think this maintenance interval is to short. With my previous bike I hadn't do this kind of maintenance in two years. I think the neco headset haven't got the best top sealing (between the top cap and the frame). And maybe I cleaned my bike to much with soap and water ... So, my next maintenance approach is to clean the bike less often except the drive train.
