Hi guys, new to the forum, and this is my first post. I've stumbled upon this thread a couple of months ago, and after research provided by you guys, I've pulled the trigger on my first chinese frame. I've bought Ostro vam 2.0 frame from Taiwan Glory, had contact with Tom on Whatsapp. I've ordered size 58 in purple to blue chameleon color with a 42cm wide handlebar.

Just a bit of the timeline, I've contacted Tom regarding frames on 21.10., after back an forth on colors and information we agreed on 665€ direct bank transfer. I confirmed and paid 50% on 24.10., and got the news on 10.11., that the frame is ready. I sent the other 50% of the money the same day. Frame was packed on 13.11. and shipped on 15.11., it arrived in Belgium on 23.11., and was delivered by DPD to my doorstep in Slovenia yesterday the 28.11. So 5 weeks from the day of contacting to the frame beeing delivered, I think that is quite fast.

The frame was packed well, and the box was not damaged in the transport.

The first impressions of the frame are great, the paintjob looks very good, and the inside walls look very clean and neat. We also agreed with Tom that he will provide the BB for the price, but it was not in the box, I contacted him today, he apologised and said that he'll send it. I had to pay 1.1€ aliexpress fee for creating a tracking number. We'll see...

I will make some detailed pictures and I'll weigh everything in a couple of days.

Nice paint choice! That said I can't resist the hologram decals on these frames. Looks very neat round the BB. Interested to see the weights and how you build it up.

Mine should be here in a few weeks, I've just ordered an Ultegra Di2 groupset for a decent Black Friday price.

I also love the hologram decals,  espesially on raw carbon. But I think that with this color choice it would look a bit over the top. I am really happy the way it turned out white white decals.

I also chose Ultegra Di2.

Check page 35 of this thread - my build is the same colourway.  Awesome frame.

I know, when I saw your pictures, I decided for Taiwan Glory and this colorway  ;D I wanted a Trek Domane in similar color in Covid times, but I couldn't get one then. The pictures don't give justice to the color in real life.

Any interest in a top-tier carbon, 56cm v1 that started this thread? I have about 1000 km on mine. Having some health issues that will keep me from riding for the foreseeable future.

Guess everyone might have moved onto the v2 reps now but I can put up an ad in the buy/sell subforum if desired.

New to the forum, so sorry if i shouldnt be asking her, but being its about the factor i figure maybe a good place to ask.

I got this bike locally last night. Is there a way to tell if the frame is good quality. I was told it was a China frame before i bought, but with the components, it was too good to pass on.

Again, if im jacking your post im sorry and will delete.

You can open the bottom bracket and have a look into the frame and see if everything is smooth, thats more or less all you can do in my eyes, but if it's smooth it's not a guarantee the frame is good quality and also not every unsmooth frame is shit

Weigh it, see if it's heavy like a tank. Ride it, try some sprints, see if it's flexy. Hit a few potholes, see if it snaps.

If it passes all those tests, you're probably good  ;)

Look, I have a generic SL8 (let's call it a counterfeit because it has the S-Works stickers, and remove them to say it's a generic).
This bike (come from Eisen) handles 1500W sprints without any problem.
It also, unintentionally, took a fall downhill at 50 km/h (the fork cracked where it attaches to the thru-axle).
All this to say that we often hear that counterfeit bikes are dangerous (the rhetoric of the brands that suffer the damage) without ever seeing any real durability tests.

If you don't want any problems, choose a supplier with a proven track record (tested here by the community).

I saw this bike on local FB Marketplace. The seller was selling the fairly cheap and even said the wheels are generic he just put nice stickers on them. Having said that, there are plenty of cheap wheels out there (I ride cheapest Superteams for now 3 years on one of my bikes) and the frame, well any frame can have issues. Test if over pot holes, do some hops, and see. I would worry more about the handlebar than anything else tbh.
