Title: SPCycle G028 new gravel frame with 57mm tires clearance
Post by: CycOps on April 26, 2026, 06:54:50 AM
More and more tire clearance is coming. SPCycle has one in the making as well:

Thanks @ains for sharing this vid in another thread!

Chat GPT translation:

“The SPCycle G028 is a new frameset from the company and has many signs of becoming one of the main releases of spring 2026. There has been consistent demand for a carbon frameset with tire clearance up to 55–57 mm, and this is a response to that demand. The frame is expected to be available on AliExpress by mid-May.

There are no photos of the frame yet, but they are expected soon. In early May, the largest cycling exhibition in China will take place, and by all indications, photos should become available around that time. The frame geometry is fairly traditional.

Specifications:
* Material: Toray T1000 + T1100 Carbon Fiber
* Model Number: SP-G028
* Frame Size: S / M / L / XL
* Seatpost: 27.2 mm
* Headset Size: 1-1/2” (52 mm) top and bottom
* Bottom Bracket: T47 threaded, shell width 85.5 mm
* Cable Routing: Fully hidden internal routing
* Brakes: Flat mount disc, 160 mm rotor
* Axle Spec: Rear 142×12 mm, Front 100×12 mm
* Rear Derailleur Hanger: UDH
* Maximum Tire Clearance: 700×57C or 29×2.25
* Compatible Drivetrains: Both Di2 (electronic) and mechanical
* Weight: Frame 1050 ± 50 g, Fork 450 ± 15 g

I asked about pricing — a response may come around April 23–24.

The frame differs significantly from the 2025 SPCycle model, the G026. While the G026 was available under various brands (such as Sensah and CWind), the SPCycle G028 currently appears to be exclusive to the company. It may simply be the first open-mold frame with this level of tire clearance”

Another one dropping in. This one also looks interesting.
A Bit more reach than the LCR72 (although more than i like) in size medium, guaranteed 2.25" clearance. 55mm fork offset, seems to be standard 27.2mm seatpost.
The negatives are 435mm chainstays, a bit longer top tube than i perfer, and maybe not as nice aesthetics compared to LCR72.
I will certainly order a frame during late summer/autumn to build a new bike for next season, now when good designs finally are showing up. If this one did have shorter chainstay it would be a certain buy from me.

This is like the new Mondice, except without dumb geometry. Chainstay length obsessives are boring - 'feel' is meaningless. All that matters is grip, comfort and aerodynamics.

Yes, I asked them to do no rivets in the fork and also in the seatstays.
They confirmed. Let’s see what I will get delivered. Would not be a problem for me if the seatstays have the rivets…

Looking good, although there's quite some paint overspray in the BB area and at the brake mount (rear).

I've contacted them via e-mail a week ago but didn't get a reply yet. Is that normal?

They should have just went with a deeper headtube rather than angled design. No real purpose and purely aesthetic but it gives it an "aero" look.

Because I trust AliExpress more, which still acts as an intermediary between the buyer and the seller. However, in this case, where the costs are much lower, I'd say I can "take the risk."

You know you pay through PayPal, which would cover you in case of an issue.

The frame has a BB drop of 80 mm! That seems pretty extreme. I guess 50+ mm tires are basically required to avoid pedal strikes. :)

45mm tires should still be fine with 165mm cranks. The new specialized crux also has 78-80mm of bb drop depending on size.

That is either #13 metallic or solid color "dark gray".

Ordered one as well. Metallic #4 fading to UD Carbon, gloss finish. I'm very excited after seeing your pictures. The finish / paint quality looks really good.

If you guys need some guidance for the metallic colors, SPCycle sent me these as examples:

My ican x-gravel in L looks to be about the same as the g028 in M The hub on this is about a cm lower and relationally the seat and bars will be about 1cm more towards the front. So I'll be further forward over the bb, but this has a bit more trail. Could be minor and meaningful changes. I'm not expecting it to feel much different though.

I'm more worried about shipping time and QA at this point.

For me the geometry is a major selling point.
The FM356 with its' 61mm tyre clearance sounded good but just far too much stack.
I cannot make it work and I am not young (57) or super flexible.

Mine arrived today. I've handled quite a few Chinese frames before, and I wasn't expecting much, but this one is absolutely terrible and potentially dangerous.

This can't be the production quality; I can only imagine I received a sample. The visual aspects (a lot of orange peel in the clear coat, severe overspray on the brake caliper mounts) are one thing, but the bike is also flawed functionally. The front wheel can't be installed because the fork dropouts are undersized. The frame already shows signs of delamination in the top layer, right there when you look inside the storage box. Fork is an absolute joke.

Delamination inside the frame storage:

What happened to the fork? There's also a handwritten note on the steerer tube that Google Translate isn't reliably translating. I can't imagine it means "QC pass."

Do you think it will be a quick allroad bike with for example 40mm caracal race tires? I am really torn between this one and maybe the Mondince FM366 but that one has a long waiting time. Do like the looks of the mondince one better though.

Well, being quick always comes down to the riders legs ;)
But seriously:
I think it can work as an allroad frame with 40mm tires, but my initial impression of today is that the Velobuild Aero Gravel feels faster. The VB also takes 2.1” thunderburts and rides well even on 35mm road slicks. So for allroad with the occasional big tire use, I’d go for the VB.

I just ordered one and got information to expect the frame in mid july!

Pretty excited moving to this from an older Giant revolt, hoping to get a bit of a racier fit without going crazy.
Using that frame currently both for road + gravel and I'm expecting this to feel a bit faster. Not the fastest cyclist in the bunch but haven't felt limited by the bike yet anyway!

I've mostly finished building my build.  Just figuring out which bar/stem to put on.

-Med frame, raw carbon with clear coat.
-BTLOS 32mm int width wheels
-SRAM Rival/Force drivetrain
- 2.1" Thunder Burts

2 rides on it so far and it's mostly dialed in.  Rides well and the geo fits, so time will tell how it holds up. The only issue I have found with the build quality is the rear brake holes are not really inboard enough to center the brake pads in the calipers.  I'm going to file them out a little and see it can be improved.

Aero-ish is a good description.  Its not as "aero" as my Winspace G3, but definitely not a rectangle.  It does flatten out towards the BB like most frames, though.

Manufacturing quality on my frame looks good on first sight.
But the uncontrolled grindung process for the forks is a big NO.
Lots of fibres hurt, especially in the lower part.

Weight seems good. Those are some rough looking forks though. The voids and pits seem worse to me than the hack job on the surface (if the carbon is thick enough there. which I'd hope it's reinforced for the cable routing hole in it) Certainly makes me question what is deemed acceptable in their QA.
Title: Re: SPCycle G028 new gravel frame with 57mm tires clearance

Some of the roughest carbon quality i've seen in years. I get that price is cheap but that's borderline dangerous to ride. Overall frame looks good and could make a solid, modern build, but man not willing to play the lottery with those forks
Title: Re: SPCycle G028 new gravel frame with 57mm tires clearance

I agree, borderline dangerous. Not gonna ride that fork.
I wrote an email with the pictures.
But I fear they will not answer. And untill I see a picture of a better manufactured G028 fork, I assume that's just their standard quality more or less. Which is simply not acceptable.
Title: Re: SPCycle G028 new gravel frame with 57mm tires clearance

I am not a CF expert and haven't built up a disc framed biks yet. Plenty of rim braked goers.
I would like to see photos of other forks in that area. Is the concern the braking force applied to that area of the steerer?
I see the area where the steerer bearing sits taking a significantly higher force and it seems well formed. Similarly at the top of the steerer where the top steerer bearing sits and above it where the handlebar stem sits will take a higher force but an expander/bung should be placed behind the handlebar stem adding support. Perhaps my thinking is wrong or I am ill--informed, but whilst that looks a bit ugly, it ends up covered and not exposed to significant force.
As said in a post above you would presume that part of the fork also has extra material added where the brake hose travels but I don't see it as a highly stressed area where the grinding has taken place. Personally not too concerned. Can someone explain why I should be?
Title: Re: SPCycle G028 new gravel frame with 57mm tires clearance
Post by: ncf on June 23, 2026, 07:00:53 PM
I'd say flex in the steerer tube with weight on the bars rather than braking force per se, but I don't have any training or certification or work experience in carbon either. I do understand voids in the carbon to undermine its strength.

Maybe it's all cosmetic and they QA the heck out of the bits that matter?
Title: Re: SPCycle G028 new gravel frame with 57mm tires clearance
Post by: warthog on June 23, 2026, 11:33:46 PM
I see the lateral load imparted on the steerer tube by the fork when braking hard as higher than from the bars. Afterall the lever provided by the fork legs is longer than that provided by the bars and stem. If you brake hard enough there will be body plus bike weight acting on that lever. I am still not that concerned as I see the lower steerer bearing resisting most of it. Perhaps I am wrong. I am not a physicist and it is a long time since I studied physics.

Has anyone installed a dropper post in their G028?   If yes, can the cable be routed internally?

A comparison with a fork from a similarly priced LongTeng frameset. Never seen a carbon job as messy as on the SP cycle. In addition my frame has bubbles in the top carbon layer in the frame comaparment and several other small defects.

SP cycle answered my mail on Monday and told me the following:
Quote
1. I consulted our structural engineer. They don't think it's a manufacturing defect, it's a paint flaw.
2. The G028 frame is made of EPS + latex inner membrane. There is no chance of carbon fiber delamination.
3. Fork cables are put in and out of the warehouse using rubber hoses. Use epoxy resin AB glue to fix. It’s not a carbon fiber manufacturing defect.
4. The T47 embedded thread is fixed with high-temperature glue. Will not loosen and fall off.
5. The frames we sell provide 2 years of free warranty. Non-man-made damage. If the frame is damaged within 2 years. We will provide a new frame.

I opened a case with PayPal, let´s see.

Unfortunately, that response was to be expected.
I can't speak for your frame, as I can't make it out clearly in your photos.
But if your fork doesn't qualify as a warranty case / manufacturing defect, then nothing ever will.

So they not only have zero quality control, they also offer absolutely no warranty support.

For what its worth:
I have a bunch of chinese fork, been unsing those for years. Every single one is much better than the spcycle. I also have a Carbonda CFR 707 and been riding it happily for 6 years.
I am an engineer with 25 years of experience, specializing—among other things—in composite structures and fatigue calculations.

I have never seen worse quality than the spcycle forks, especially yours and mine.

Do spcycle forks all look like this? I can't really tell from there website, but they seem to look rough there too. I saw one other pic in a thread here, the g068?, where someone has a pic of the steerer tube and the brake cable port where it doesn't look very nice. It may be the lighting? The fork complaints are about the flip chip that this fork doesn't have.

If not, different suppliers result in different qualities

So essentially it aint going to break. Yes it may be ugly but their structural engineer does not consider it unsafe.  It is covered when assembled and cannot be seen. Interested to see what hapoens with the PayPal claim. You'd expect their team to argue it has a 2 year warranty against failure and that this will not cause failure.

So essentially it aint going to break.

I assure you, this fork will fail prematurely in a fatigue test as well as under real life riding scenarios.

I also got a response vom spcycle to my fork complaint.
As expected, they either have absolutely no expertise or—more likely—they want to rip off their customers.
Maybe both.
They told me "A test specimen fork passed the impact test. It´s all fine."

Nice attempt to ignore excessive sanding in areas that shouldn't have been sanded at all.

I´m done with spcycle. I´ll open a paypal case.

You have the fork in front of you I do not. What does it look like inside the tube?
Can you explain why you are assured this fork will fail under real life riding scenarios?

As I said in an earlier post I do not see that area of the fork being under high stress. The area where the bearing sits will be under higher stress imo. That looks fine. Sure it is ugly but it doesn't appear dangerous. Not trying to argue, just that I can see the SP cycle position, which appears to be; it is insured against failure and a failure here is very unlikely. Yes, you most definitely do not want a failure there however.

Can you explain why the forks pictured in this thread are not in danger of failure at the area of the steerer tube that appears aggressively grinded/sanded?

Based on your picture,  the lines and grooves I see show no indication of any carbon fibers being cut or impacted by the rough surface.   I do not see any grinding where the CF fibers are impacted.  The area you indicated above your red arrows are of little structural concern to me. Depending on how far below the rough ground surface the fibers are, those rough areas are not load bearing.   The carbon fiber strands/fibers and their orientation are what do the heavy work in the fork tube.  The Epoxy is fairly flexible helps distribute the loads throughout all if the CF fibers.  You don't need much epoxy above the outside of the fork tube fiber bundle to do it's job.

When I look at the image, I am more concerned with the roughness of the hole for the brake line.   I can see many rough notches around the hole. Depending on how the fork tube flexes  these rough areas around the hole could become stress propagation areas that could lead to cracks in The carbon fiber  If this was my fork, and I was stuck with it, I would very carefully smooth out the rough edges around the hole and observe it any of the small notches penetrate deeper into the fork tube.

I would also sand down the rough areas that you indicated to a smoother surface and look for any carbon fiber strands becoming visible.  If the carbon fibers become exposed, then that rough area would become a concern.

Anyone dealing with a larger gap than usual between the head tube and first spacer despite being aligned and tightened down? Looks to be about 1mm or slightly more versus the usual .5mm of other bikes. Everything is aligned and set properly as far as I can tell with plastic spacer bumps settling in the recessed dimples in the spacer plastic above and below. I worry about headset bearing longevity with this big of a gap. Everything else looks good otherwise at this point.

One thing to check is that the bearing angles are matched correctly.  I ran into this once and it stuck up higher just like yours.  This is one link that explains bearing angles.   It is good for everyone that builds their own bicycles to be aware of this.

My fingernails tell a different story. I can lift the loose ends of the cut fibres.
The insde of the fork is messy and you can´t see a lot, because they left the bladder inside and I cant rip it out.

I´ve bought another fork to substitute the original one. Still indecided if I use that or the reinforced spcycle fork, which I´m riding at the moment. I vac-bagged a carbon patch on the spcycle fork (uniddirectional, doubled up rovings on the sides of the brake hose entry + plain weave top layer), which covers the whole area from directly above the 45° bearing seat to well above the brake line entry. (I make carbon and fibreglass parts as a hobby for 30 years and I´ve repaired carbon bicycle frames.) Theres not as much overlay of the reinforcement to the cut fibres in the area that is marked in the pictures. And I can´t monitor the area around the brakehose entry for fatigue cracks anymore. Therefore not a perfect solution. But that patch should reduce some of the stress heat spots, that are cause by the messy composite matrix in that area.

Your blue arrows show notches in the non structural brake hose cladding tube. That cladding tube doesn´t get any stress and a crack in that cladding tube don´t matter at all. Unlike welded joints, there is also no risk of a crack originating in the casing tube propagating into the base material.
What matters are the notches around the whole in the structural carbon. Those are stress risers and potential crack initiation points for the structural carbon. I´m well aware of all of that. This is my daily buisiness for 25 years.

I carfully sanded those notches (all of them) before apllying the carbon patch. My fibre/roving orientation took all those effects into account. Theclayup got a plain weave top layer that I carerully molded into the cladding tube. I sanded and smoothed out the transition after the curing process.
(the plain weave toplayer also takes care of deflection forces in the unidirectional fibres of the reinfiorcement and also of the shear stresses around the whole (from torsion for example))

I´m done with spcycle.

I need to correct this.

I sent spcycle another photo and asked them to take a closer look.
This time they responded very quickly and generously offered to send me a new fork and even cover the return shipping costs for the old one. That's excellent customer service. I didn´t expect tthe offer to cover the return shipping costs.

So: After all my complaining, here is some appreciation for spcycle regarding how they intend to handle the situation.

(I replied to the last mail and told them about my reinforcement. Perhaps my reinforcement will cause them to withdraw their offer. I would understand that, and I was fully aware of the risk of voiding the warranty when I reinforced the fork myself.)

It´s XL in standard colour metallic No12.
(I need 832mm seat height, long legs short torso.)

Rival E1 Brakes with X01 cassette/GX deraillier + Force Crank
Nextie SGX 45 rims (32mm internal width) on DT350 Hubs
G-One RX pro 50mm - 53.5mm wam on those rims.
Richey Switch cockpit (80mm stem)

Clearance in the back is excatly 6mm both sides with a 57mm tyre.
It´s a smidge under 8mm clearance with the RX pro now.

I ordered one in Glossy Purple size M from Meinier with soms coupons from AliExpress. I am very curious about this wide tire trend. I want to try some beachraces with it.
I hope this can replace my VB AeroGrav but I am probably too influenced by marketing because I don’t do much gravel and I use my VB as an all road bike 90% of the time on the road. So maybe this is a good reason to build an aero roadbike as well?  ;D

It is a pity that I didn’t know about this thread yesterday when I bought some items on AliExpress😭

I know that the processes to save extra money during "sales" has been posted in the past.   There are many ways to save extra money on your orders with a little more planning.

1.  Research and find the Aliexpress "sales" dates throughout the year.   (Unless you are desperate to order and receive a part, plan you purchases around the "big Sales".)
2.  If you use the app,  you can play games, and do other things to earn coins.  (Coins typically give 1% to 4% off of many store items in your cart.)
3.  Often, some stores will have and offer store specific coupons.  Download these when you see them pop up from time to time
4.  Continually read the Chinertown thread that lists the active coupons.   During some sales, coupons can save up to 30%. but typically a max of 18% to 20%.
5. On smaller orders, be sure to use/apply $1.00 off coupons you have accumulated.
6  Occasionally, for no rhyme or reason Aliexpress will let you stack several coupon in your order, but most of the time the coupon code you enter will override other coupons you have entered, so be sure the coupon you enter is the largest discount.
7.  Some savvy buyers will use Paypal and often get other discounts that stack on top of the Aliexpress order.

I ordered a gloss black on June 1. I got a message from spscycle via Ali messages that it shipped on the 19th and delivery by July 10th. I got a shipped notification from Ali via email on June 29th and delivery by July 17th. It's shipping to US and I'm waiting for Fedex to update status. If it arrives by the 17th I will consider myself fortunate.

For Ali purchases you can also look at Raku ten for cashback. I've gotten as high as 20%. They do not seem to apply cashback to shipping or sales tax in the US) Not to rub salt in the wound, but it's currently at 14%. They pay out like 2-3 months later.

Now that we have a few more complete bikes posted, has anyone else's fork looked as rough as the one spcycle has now agreed to take back from MiWi? Was it a one off that they agreed its not good, or a one off that a not good one got shipped?

This is what turns me off.
A manufacturer that considers those carbon quality (pores, voids, grindingmarks) as perfectly fine.

Here are some random fork pictures from the mondice and tantan threads in this forum
A crystal clear difference in the overall carbon quality while being the same cheap price category.
(I don't expect boutique brand quality from the cheap stuff, but basic low level quality)

Concerning my fork, I opened a PayPal claim. SPcycle agreed to refund me once I have returned my frameset. Unfortunately I am looking at about 100$ of shipping cost as a private customer EU-> CN. I will contact them once again and ask them so send me a new fork, given that they agreed on sending out a new fork to others. The frame itself is sloppy, but I don´t think its not rideable. I still consider the fork dangerous. I do not agree that the defective position is a position of little stress to the steere tube. In fact it is close to the lower bearing point that basically takes all the load when braking during descending.

First review on AliExpress spotted:

High-quality frame. Beautiful color; it shifts between blue and purple hues depending on the lighting. Neat paintwork—all mounting surfaces are left unpainted. Tire clearance with Schwalbe Thunder Burt 29x2.25 tires (actual width 55mm on my rims) is about 7mm on each side at the rear; I didn't measure the front, but the clearance is greater there. Easy assembly—no facing or filing was required, and the threaded inserts and bottom bracket shell are perfectly aligned. It’s a shame the downtube storage bag isn't included, but that’s a minor issue—it can be purchased separately. I’ll update this review after testing.

Hello everyone! I ordered from their website at the end of May and I just got it. I asked for a custom paint and the result is good (but not perfect). Overall quality seems good, also considering the price. The fork also looks in a good shape.

Frame ordered on May 22th arrived June 7th
Paintwork average just had time to check critical points.

Everything looks fine so far apart from the rear brake mounts. Those need attention.

The last 3 forks look a lot better to me. Less pores, much better saturation with eopxy overall and the grinding process is also much cleaner.
That´s absolutely acceptable and I´d be satisfied with such quality.

I haven´t heard back from them since one week. Might have to open a paypal case as well.

I've got the opposite issue, with the bearing cover actually hitting the frame and it not preloading the bearings.

Ordered on June 8th with custom paint request, shipped June 24th. Has cleared customs and will be delivered in the next days I guess. So production (custom paint) + shipping is around a month.
Arrived today. So about 1 month from order to arrival with custom paint.
The shipping box is very robust, the frame + fork was wrapped in many layers of foam.

Custom paint as requested, metallic #4 fading to UD carbon, gloss. (Inspired by the Scott Addict Gravel Team colorway, see last picture)

Paint finish looks really good, not perfect, but very nice. Love the #4 metallic color.
There is some clear coat overspray at the brake mounts and bottom bracket. I'll try to sand that down a bit.

Carbon finish looks very clean, very little voids, carbon looks super clean inside. Fork also looks really good and is much better than what I've seen here.

The only negative thing so far is that they won't custom paint the storage cover, would've loved a glossy one matching the frame fade.

Here's some pictures (size Small):

Hello, you need to use a 0.65-0.8mm thick spacer washer. The washer must be placed on the compression ring.

Assembled the bike Yesterday no issues so far.
1st ride 50km/1100m vertical with some XC terrain as well.
I like this bike a lot so far!

The Shenzhen Asbestos Grey color is a great choice as it looks the same even if the bike is covered in an inch of dust  ;)

Will fit bartape next... I was unsure about the cockpit

Hi everyone,
I'm currently waiting for my Spcycle G028 frame to arrive and I'd like to ask a few quick questions to those who have already built it:
1. Which stem with internal cable routing are you using?
2. How are you routing the cables, and what headset bearings are you using for this setup?
3. Have you experienced any significant issues with the stock bearings that come with the frame?
Thanks in advance for your help!

1. I'm using a redshift stem. Not hidden cables. If you ordered the frame with integrated bars I:d expect it to include the headset cover and spacers you need.
2. The headset cover came with the frame. All 4 cables running into it from just underneath the stem. I have 15mm of round spacers above it, but am probably going to remove some of that. The cables maybe be a bit of a snu bend under the stem at that point.
3. Stock headset bearing seem fine to me. But I don't think I have very high standards for being able to spin the bars.

Am building currently and am frustratingly slow at it. I just want to be able to get out and ride at this point.

Other thoughts since I'm taking a break.

Took 40 days from order to delivery for a M black gloss frame (no seatpost or bars) which I think puts it at 10 days after Ali said it shipped.

My fork looks ok. Not "polished", but ok. looks like the excess filler/epoxy around the brake hose guide was scraped off with a grater. No exposed carbon thread or anything that makes me think unsafe

The storage cover is plastic. The locking handle is plastic. The inserts at top and bottom of opening are plastic and they fill the interior opening above and below the storage opening. I'm thing of cutting them down to just what's needed to hold the door. Then I can push a bag down toward the BB and one up towards the bars.

Paint seems ok, but the plastic bubble/foam wrap they used left a noticable pattern when you look at it closelyon the paint. I tried to was it off thinking it was grease or residue, but it remained. Not sure how it will look after it goes through some rounds of getting dirty and getting washed. I'm not too worried about it, but if you want a perfect smooth/shiny gloss finish it would be frustrating.

They did not face the bb, or it was painted afterwards and just part of the insert was not paints. I was able to install the bb fine and it seems to line up.

The brake mount points also were not faced and had a large bump of paint around the outer edge of all of them. I sanded them down by hand using a Dremel cutoff wheel. The paint seems relatively soft.and I got them much flatter than they were. I'd say flat

Cables through the headset are a pain to run even without the integrated bar and stem.

Looks like 2x grx 11 speed 46/30 is fitting just fine.i have a tire on measuring 47mm right now and seems to be a couple of inches of space to the front derailleur. I plan to run some 2.1" that barely fit in my old frame and look like they will have plenty of room. I got some parts expecting to have to build this 1x for a larger tire clearance, but doesn't seem necessary.

Front triangle is smaller than I realized and my frame bag won't fit. My existing seatpost may also be too short for me with the min insertion on this frame. Top tube is more sloped than my ican x-gravel was. Otherwise this geometry lines up pretty well to my previous 560 ican for reach. Hoping to get 2 bottles and a frame bag in.

The thru axles don't match each other. The front is a v profile on the head and there is a v shaped brass washer that falls out almost every time I have removed the thru axle. The rear is flat at the head and no washer.

Frame and fork came in on the heavier side of the +-. When I ordered the frame was actually posted at 1050 for a M and now states 1100.

Routing the rear shift and brake cables took a while for each. The front brake cable just slide right through the guide as expected. Front shift cable would have been a lot easier to do before installing the bb. But got it with help of cable guide on first try. Full length cables for shift and brake ;)

Concerning my fork, the PayPal dispute ended in their offer to send back the frame and get a full refund. Since shipping EU->CN as a private customer is extremely expensive and I like the framespecs otherwise I asked if it would be possible to get a replacement fork simply and they agreed on it. Lets see if and how the new fork arrives.

This plastic storage cover and parts seem like they'll break at some point. Anyone know if these are standard parts that have better versions floating around before that? They don't have them on the sp-cycle website and I haven't found them on Ali.

Hi everyone,
My Spcycle G028 is painted and ready to ship. I asked the seller for pictures of the head tube area and noticed the transition to raw carbon on the fork looks a bit rough around the routing hole.
I know some roughness is normal with these cheap carbon frames, and honestly, it looks much better than other horror stories I've seen here on the forum. Still, I wanted to get your eyes on it before giving the green light.
Does it look acceptable to you? Thanks!

I'm looking into ordering this frame in a size M to replace my Carbonda CFR707 (from 2023) which has too high of a stack for me.

Has anyone tried getting a custom paint job with logos etc.?

Also I run a 79 cm saddle height, will this be OK in a size M? Can't seem to find an answer on their webiste.

Thanks

Hey guys,
Dealing with a persistent headset click on my G028 build and looking for advice.
The Symptoms:
Zero fore-and-aft play when locking the front brake and rocking the bike.
The click happens only under heavy side-to-side twisting force (holding the wheel straight and forcing the bars left/right).
What I've Checked:
Stem is at 5.5 Nm with carbon paste. Expander plug isn't slipping. Compression ring is right side up.
Even with an extra 5mm spacer on top to guarantee clearance, cranking the top cap down doesn't bind the steering at all—the headset still spins completely free, so it's not truly compressing.

Is it normal that the steering is not stiffening with preload?
Any advice?

Check if there is no gap between stem and fork tube. I saw the same problem not long ago. The reason was that stem hole was a bit larger than the diameter of the fork tube.

good tips.

consider also signing up for rakuten too -- they often give another 14-20% cash back on aliexpress purchases.  i got mucho bucks back for my shimano dura ace groupset order along with other goodies (endoscope, paint protection, di2 charge adapter, etc).  it was the discount that pushed me over the top to splurge on dura ace over super reasonable and great ultegra groupset.

Same problem with 2 different stems.
Reinstalled everything Yesterday with a lot of grease. Now clicking sound only appears on rough descents.
I guess that the headset needs a shim washer for proper preload.

My original order said August 15 for delivery date, but now that it has shipped and been on the move I assume it will be much sooner

Disappointed to report that I started putting together the frameset the last couple of days and I think either the fork or the handlebar is defective because no matter how much I tighten the clamp, the handlebar still moves laterally.
The handlebar is the HB068

Took some measurements to see whether the issue is in the fork or the handlebar and I think it's both?
The fork tube doesn't have a uniform measurement but also the handlebar clamp seems to be bigger than it should. Looks to me that it's just manufacturing issues. Pretty bummed out about the whole situation

To everyone who has already built up the frame: Am I correct assuming that I don't need the lower crown race that is delivered with the headset? When I try to install it, the fork won't go in and leaves a 5-10mm gap. When I don't install it (seems like there is an integrated molded-in crown race with the fork), everything is flush as it should be.

I didn't order bars. I haven't had any issue with preload on headset and only a small issue with getting my stem on. The steerer was a bit thick right at the top. Once on, no issues. About 100 miles in and so far so good.

Other thoughts:
The seat stay are wide (duh) and when stretching out the back of my left leg hits the stay. I don't really have the issue on the right, but I think that's just me.

Also this make mounting a rack to the mount points questionable for me. So I'm getting an adapter to go around the seatpost to mount a rack to.

The storage door still seems too soft and there is not a good seal to the frame. Water and dust find their way in.
They said they would offer the door and part separately, but I'm not holding my breath and will try to baby the door, hardware, and opening. I'm going to add some foam type tape on the door to act as a gasket. There is some, but it's not enough. I don't want to add to much because I don't want to be d the door.

It rides like I expected. Which pretty much means I don't notice anything about the frame. Seems stiff enough and comfy with 55mm tires and a redshift seatpost.

55mm tires have a lot of clearance at least 6mm at any point I thought to check.

I'm seriously considering buying the brake mount surfacing tool I saw on YouTube from Ali. I have a couple of bike that I would feel better about knowing the mounts are flat to each other and 90deg from the rotor. My current windows for no rub seem incredibly tight.

Man does my gloss paint seem to scuff easy. The section right about my downtime bottle cage is hazy. I don't remember missing the cage that many times or grinding my bottle into the spot, but 🤷‍♂️

Seatpost fits well and didn't over torque. Only 6nm. On that thought I haven't seen any torque specs or directions for the build. So have been using standard from parts and other sources.

I have a stages power meter crank arm and it clears the frame with about 0cm. Very faint scuffs after the first 20 miles. I added a 0.6mm shim and no issues for hitting the frame or wobble on the crank arm.

I'm adding helicopter tape to protect from rocks/grime spraying off the wheels and around the crankset to protect from the chain if/when it slips.

Almost finished the build.

Cockpit: Rpantahi 360mm
Wheelset: Elitewheels Gravel Aero+ (32mm IW)
Tires: Continental Dubnital 55mm (55mm WAM)

Tightest part is the chain stay, as expected. 8mm clearance, which means 57mm tires (WAM) fit with exactly 6mm clearance.

Thanks. My inspiration is in this post, it's the paintjob of the Scott Addict Gravel (Team):
Sorry, not sure why not all pictures were uploaded, here's the complete frameset + the inspiration for the colorway.
I did contact them via Aliexpress (since they wouldn't reply to my mails). They answered very fast. I did specify that I did not want the bolts on the fork. All in, it was $620 incl. shipping / tax+duty and the metallic paint option (it's half metallic + half UD carbon and clear coat but since it was a custom paint job that's totally fine to pay the "metallic" tax).

What is your height?
I'm 171cm. Hope it fits. Did not test ride it yet (need to install crankset and bleed brakes first).

Looks great! A bit off-topic, but how'd you go about getting rid of the big elitewheels logos?  :D
These f*cking decals ... nail polish remover + cotton pads + elbow grease and a lot of patience.
Next wheelset will not be from Elitewheels just because of those ugly decals (I'll probably go with Serenade, decals seem to be customizable)

Almost finished the build.

Cockpit: Rpantahi 360mm
Wheelset: Elitewheels Gravel Aero+ (32mm IW)
Tires: Continental Dubnital 55mm (55mm WAM)

Tightest part is the chain stay, as expected. 8mm clearance, which means 57mm tires (WAM) fit with exactly 6mm so you have 55mm tires in the front and back? So 50mm should fit better than expected after they corrected the description to 47mm.

Yes, 55mm front and back, measuring 55mm exactly. 50 will fit with a lot of clearance (around 10+mm). The frame is made for up to 57mm.

I desisted on trying to get a hold of anyone at Spcycle. Best I can tell, it's a one man operation and I think they are actively ignoring me via all of their known email addresses. I even tried to message them over WeChat and called them over the phone to the number in China that appears on their website and nothing.

I took matters in my own hands and got one of those carbon fiber repair kits that you can buy on Amazon and added one layer of carbon inside the stem clamp. It worked really well. As for the rest of the frame, everything looks good, I guess.

Ill post a thorough review of Spcycle as a vendor later but as much as I liked this frame, I probably won't be buying anything else from them knowing that they won't stand by their products.

I un-wrapped the mummy and took a quick look-see of the frame and fork.  I usually purchase "Matt Black" frames because I believe that my bicycles are intended to be "functional" and after a season or 2 of riding, all my off-road bikes get the crap beat out of them anyways.  (Form and function over looks)
The fork weighs 460 grams without the axle.  The fork's steering tube is all the same diameter and looks good.  The brake line routing hole looks good all-in-all. (See pic.)

The frame looks about as expected, except it weighs 1260 grams bare, and 1300g with only the UDH and thru-axle mounted.  OUCH! 100 grams more than I expected.  (Large frame.)   My Seraph gravel large frame clocked in at just under 1100 grams.
- I guess this is the weight one adds for the down-tube tool box cover and down-tube reinforcement, + being able to fit larger tires.  (My 4+ year old SPCycle M05, weighs 950 grams for the bare frame.)

181cm,  around 82.5 inseam.   I could fit a medium frame, except I use a dropper post and like to have more seat post length inside the frame.

Hello. We bought 2 frames for my girlfriend and me (one size S, and one size L). We asked for custom paint, half in copper brown and half in sand beige. They send us some render images and it looks very amazing.

One question. Someone is using a road 2x12? Like Ultegra. I'm planning to use carbon crankset from Aliexpress with 50-34, and then 11-34 or maybe 11-36. My concern is about if its possible to use road crankset and road FD. Or maybe knows some carbon crankset with extra wide to use GRX Di2 FD?

Thanks guys! Now its time to wait for the frames... it'll be hard!

Selecting the cranks for this frame is where I am at too.     First thing you need to figure out is what bottom bracket you want to install in the frame.   Our frames have the T47 standard with 85.5mm frame shell width.  This means that the frame is designed to fit a T47 "internal"  bottom bracket (Like Trek uses).  The second thing that will drive the cranks you purchase is if you want to run a 24mm or 30mm axle (SRAM DUB XL = 28.99 mm.)   24mm is typically for road, 30mm for MTB.  30mm is becoming more common on road for riders who use crank power meters.    (I prefer 30mm axles on all my off-road bikes.)

Therefore as a baseline,  our frames are intended to run spindles that use the BB386EVO or PF30-long spindles - Roughly 104mm long.  This width allows one to use spindle spacers that will let you move the relative position of the chainrings back and forth to set-up the correct chainline.

The next factor in selecting your cranks is the chainline for this frame.  The chain-line will be different for a 1X versus 2X setup.  This is where I am at in my calculations for my bike. - Perhaps others have determined the chainline they used for either a 1X or 2X set-up.

Once you know what your chainline is, you need to find cranks with their chainring/s installed that will secure onto the spindle that lines up with the required chainline.   This is the process that will determine the "Q" factor of the pedals on the cranks.  Q factor is the lateral distance between the outside edges of the left and right crank arms. It dictates how far apart your feet are positioned horizontally when you pedal.   Roadies typically want to minimize the width,  MTB riders often ride bikes with much wider spaced cranks.  Part of this is that roadies want the optimal aerodynamics and a narrower Q factor helps reduce frontal drag.  MTB frames running boost rear frame spacing and wide tires require a wider chainline for tire clearance.

In summary, it would be nice for the others who have their G028 already on the road, to share their BB selection, spindle, chainline and cranks they used.

The build is complete (for now), and I'm very pleased with everything.

– no major paint defects (only very minor little things here and there, but totally fine)
– no major hassle with the slight overspray at the brake mounts. I just used a flat file and made it flat in about 20 seconds. (the mounts are perfectly flat, it's just the little paint / clear coat overspray that is problematic when mounting your brake calipers.
– no issues with the bottom bracket threads or the seat post, everything went smooth

I used a mix of used and new parts, to keep the budget as low as possible (the goal was a beater gravel bike, oh well ...)
All in all, budget spent was somewhere around 2000€ (≈ $2300)

I have a few more questions about rider's build out of this frame.

Has anyone built the frame as a 1X12?  If yes did you build it out using MTB components or Gravel/road components?

How many have built their bikes using 2X12?

I have both Wheeltop EDS TX and Wheeltop OX groups that I could use for my build.   If I go EDS OX, I would install a set of my "H" bars and run mtb based brakes.
If I use gravel bars, I would set up the bike using the EDS TX integrated brake/shift levers.

Thoughts?

Did not have time yet to test it out. Since I only have a freshly hot-waxed chain, I can‘t really say much about noise or performance. It‘s flat, and the chainline seems to be perfect for Shimano GRX/XT Di2, which is nice.

Chainline SRAM: 47.5 (with 6mm offset chainring), but the Wuzei has a 4.2mm offset making it a 49.3mm chainline which is almost the perfect Shimano chainline of 49.7mm

Anyone else having problems with the supplied headset?

Now I installed a 0.5mm shim to see if it helps - no luck.

Tightening the headset top cap does not preload the bearings enough, even with the shim installed steering is really smooth not stiffenig as it should.

During riding high speed if the front wheel hits an obsticle it makes one loud click.

During sprints or applying brakes no strange sound it only happens on major impacts.

I have no idea if its a faulty headset, frame or fork problem and would appreciate any input.

I used the supplied part t was clicking real bad. I ordered a 0.5mm shim and installed it on top of the C-Ring. It's better but still clicking occasionally as I described.

I am confindent that the supplied headset is very low quality as there are no markins on the bearings. I have no idea if the bearings are supposed to be 45/45 or 45/36 degrees as SP-Cycle does not provide details.

I am willing to change the supplied headset to 3rd party product while I don't want to damage the frame because of this issue.
Will contact the manufacturer again but I have a feeling that they couldn't care less.

Not a perfect fit for the original headset I had to modify it with an angle grinder.

I reached out to spcycle to get the official torque specifications for the frame/components, so I'm sharing them here in case it helps anyone with their build or maintenance:

Seatpost Clamp: 6 N·m
Compression Plug (Expander): 12 – 15 N·m
T47 Bottom Bracket: 25 – 40 N·m

Hope this is useful

Hello. I've already purchased the frame, but it hasn't arrived yet. Regarding the crankset, I'm using two sprockets: a 46 and a 34, mounted on a Shimano 105/110 BDC crankset. I asked Spcycle if such a crankset would fit in the frame, but they replied that the frame was designed around a Shimano GRX crankset. Of course, once I receive the frameset, I'll check the compatibility of my crankset and let you know.

There are so many BB standards these days.  I can't keep track of them and always have to start from scratch every time I purchase a frame with a different BB size and width.    Our G028s are designed for T47 internal bottom brackets, and the Frame BB shell width is 85.5mm.   This appears to make it compatible with most cranks designed for frames with a 85.5 mm to 86.5 mm shell width that matches the standard width for BB86 / PF41 frames

For your Scumano 105 cranks they should fit into a T47 Internal BB for a 24mm axle.   This being written,  It appears that the GRX cranksets have a +2.5mm outboard spacing compared to your 105 road cranks.   This is to accommodate the wider chainlines found on Gravel and MTB bikes.   Therefore, you will have to test to see if your 105 cranks provide the correct chainline

I already have this crank and t47 85.5 bottom bracket setup, tested on a CWIND GT30 gravel bike, probably the SPCYCLE G058 equivalent. I'm more concerned about whether the crank with these chainrings will fit in this frame and whether Continental Dubintal 29x2.2 tires will fit. The GRX crank doesn't fit me due to the size of the chainrings.

New bike day for me! Quite happy with this frame swapped al my parts over from my Velobuild AeroGravel. When I tried it out today it felt very familiar and I was happy with the feeling of the bike. It didn’t really feel slower or more sluggish than my VB. I was quite pleased with the speed possible on the 45mm Caracal race tires.
When I build op my dedicated roadbike hopefully next week (I know, I know, I have a problem) I will order some bigger tires like thunder burts or maybe 2.4 Pirelli xc tires they also seem to be quick on Bicycle Rolling Resistance. Excited to see how capable and versatile this bike will be.

Hi everyone, after gathering all the parts, my Spcycle G028 build is finally assembled! I wanted to build a fast but capable gravel/monster cross bike, and I am absolutely thrilled with how aggressive it looks.
The only detail left is the chainring. I need to change it to a 0mm offset one because right now I am running 3mm of spacers on the crank spindle to make it fit, and I want to remove them. Other than that, she is ready to roll!
Here is the full build breakdown:

Frame: Spcycle G028 Carbon (Size S, Matte Black)
Wheels: CSC Carbon 50mm depth, 32mm internal width
Tires: Maxxis Rekon Race 2.35" 120 TPI (Front) / Maxxis Ikon 2.20" 60 TPI (Rear)
Shifters & Brakes: SRAM Rival AXS E1 (standard SRAM pads)
Rear Derailleur: SRAM S-1000 AXS T-Type 12-speed
Cassette: 10-50T 12-speed
Chain: KMC X-Flat Waxed 12-speed
Powermeter & Cranks: GEOID PM500 (165mm)
Bottom Bracket: Spcycle T47-24mm Ceramic
Chainring: Wuzei 44T (currently 3mm offset)
Handlebar: Kocevlo Carbon 380mm
Stem: Platt Alloy 80mm (-6 degrees)
Bar Tape: Standard silicone wrap
Seatpost: Toseek Carbon 27.2mm
Saddle: Balugoe Carbon (Specialized Power 143 replica)
Pedals: Shimano Deore XT
Bottle Cages: Standard alloy cages

I've attached a picture of the final setup. Let me know what you guys think!

nice build! would a 2.35 fit in the rear? I only tried with 2.1 Thunderburts (WAM 55mm on 27mm internal rims) and there is still a good amount of clearance.

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure if it's possible. If it does fit, the clearance would be right on the absolute limit, maybe too tight to be safe.
To give you guys some context, mounted on my 32mm internal width rims:
The front tire (Maxxis Rekon Race 2.35") actually measures 62.6 mm.
The rear tire (Maxxis Ikon 2.20") actually measures 58.3 mm.
As you can see in the pictures, the 2.20" already leaves a somewhat tight gap at the chainstays. Putting a 2.35" there would add over 2mm to each side, leaving almost no room for mud or wheel flex under load.

Hello everyone! I ordered from their website at the end of May and I just got it. I asked for a custom paint and the result is good (but not perfect). Overall quality seems good, also considering the price. The fork also looks in a good shape.

Back again, this time sharing the final build and a few notes after putting some rides on it (400km).

I had quite a bit of trouble with the headset setup. The stock configuration just wouldn’t preload properly no matter how many times I tried to adjust it. In the end, I solved it by mixing parts: Deda (top cover + expander) together with some Kocevlo components. Now everything is solid and smooth.

One small thing I noticed: when I fully stretch my legs, I sometimes touch the seat stays. It’s more of a habit/body positioning thing than an actual issue, and not a dealbreaker at all, but worth mentioning.

On the ride side, I feel very confident on the bike. The handling suits me well, stable but still responsive. I can comfortably ride no-hands, which I couldn’t really do on some other frames I tried with different geometries.

Overall, pretty happy with how this build turned out.

Frame: SPCycle G028 Carbon (Size L, Matte Custom Paint)
Wheels: ELITEWHEELS EDGE 38mm depth, 32.5mm internal width
Tires: Pirelli Cinturato Gravel M HP Line 700x45C (Front/Rear)
Shifters & Brakes: SHIMANO GRX 820
Front Derailleur: SHIMANO GRX 820 (2-speed)
Rear Derailleur: SHIMANO GRX 820 (12-speed)
Cassette: SHIMANO CS-HG710 11-36T 12-speed
Chain: SHIMANO CN-M8100 12-speed
Powermeter & Cranks: Magene TEO P515 (165mm, DUB axle)
Bottom Bracket: MICHE T47 IC XL 29 (DUB)
Chainring: PASS QUEST 110BCD 2x 48-35T
Headset: Deda S-DCR Top Part + Deda Expander 70mm + KOCEVLO Compression Ring + 1x KOCEVLO Adjusting Washer
Handlebar: Deda Superzero Gravel Carbon 420mm
Stem: Deda Superzero RS POB Carbon 90mm (82°)
Seatpost: Deda RS Carbon 0mm 400mm 27.2mm
Saddle: ERGON SR AllRoad Pro 142mm

Please tell me if this crank with these chainrings will fit without a problem. I'd like to install a Shimano 105 7000 crank with 46-34 chainrings, but Spcycle replied that it might be a problem. What are the distances between the chainrings and the frame?

I can say that I had no problems with my setup. Probably a chainring bigger than 35T would not fit. Also I made sure to put some washers onto Magene's axle to get a chainline around 47mm as SHIMANO declares for GRX (this also helps to move the small ring away wrt the chainstay).

Hello everyone,

I got my G028 frame a week ago and today when I tried to put a seatpost in I encountered a problem. The seatpost couldn't go down the seat tube because the hole was too narrow.

I reached out to Spcycle (who responded almost immediately) and they told me to sand it down to help the seatpost go down. Problem is after a bit of sanding the hole was still too narrow. They suggested to sand it heavily as this area is really sturdy and there is a lot of material. After quite a lot of sanding with a coarse sandpaper I got the seatpost to fit (still really tight). But now one of the area I sanded has no visible carbon anymore (see pics).

What's your suggestion ? Is it ok or not ? Spcycle told me to use the frame with confidence but I rather have some other opinions.

Thanks for your help.

Without defending SPCycles obviously poor manufacturing and QC, I think the frame is good to ride without any worries.
Also: better a tight fit for the seatpost than a slippery fit ;)

What do you mean by "has no visible carbon anymore". Its all carbon. I would say this is fine.

It's unreal how bad is their QC man. like, they only had to check if the seatpost fits or not before shipping... it's a 10 second check ffs

I meant in the second to last picture you can see some white material and not the carbon pattern anymore. I assumed it wasn't the carbon layer but something else but I have no idea.

The QC is indeed really bad. I bought a G026 last November from them and everything was fine so I assumed it would be the same.  :-X

I see you have a meinier grl15 frame. The tightening torque of 6-8Nm is written on the seatpost clip. So I had a problem with exactly the same pin. I wanted to install another seatpost. But with great difficulty, I got it out of the frame. The reason for everything is the pin clamp plate. The material is quite thin and the clamping screws even at a minimum value of 6Nm make dents in it. My pin fits into the frame tightly and these dents held it anyway and I couldn't remove it. I wrote to the seller about it and he sent me a new clip. At the same time, I ordered a steel clamp for the turner while the new part was moving. So I want to warn against such things. I tightened the steel with the force that is written on the seatpost itself, 5Nm, and it does not sink under my weight on bumps and bumps. My weight is 85kg

I'm not sure about the back, I have a Chaoyang phantom speed 2.2 tire right now, after several trips it was blown up to 2.3, while the gaps are 5 mm each. rim 25i

Hello,

Has anyone here who is relatively small ridden this frame?

I'd like to build one for my girlfriend. She is 163 cm tall and currently rides a Canyon Ultimate Wmn XS on the road.

I'm a bit worried that this frame might be too long for her. The reach is 385 mm in size S (top tube 533.6), while her Canyon Ultimate XS has a 368 mm reach (top-tube 521mm).

She is currently using a 380 mm handlebar with an 80 mm stem.

Any feedback from riders around her height would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

6mm hex key for scale.

Hello!
My girlfriend has exactly the same height than yours, and we're waiting one frame in size S for her. (Its shipped, hope the next week the frames are here). We already have the handlebars, Lexon Unox 380/80 for her.
Lets see if it works! I will tell you.

Consider the new L-Twoo EGR over the GeX - it's cheaper and better. Alternatively, consider spending a little extra and getting a Shimano 105 / Deore M6250 combination - should only be about $200 more expensive which if you're likely to be far away from help on a gravel bike you should really consider the reliability (though it means you have 12 speed instead of 13).

It's definitely more than just some paint from the inside. I had to sand it for a good 20min with 80 grain sandpaper just to get the seatpost to fit in the frame. I had to remove quite a bit of material and the problem wasn't actually right at the top but it was after the clamp so a good 3-5cm in the frame.

Anyway in the end I got it to work and Spcycle agreed to send me a new carbon seatpost since mine was ruined, but in a perfect world it shouldn't happen.

Hopefully everything else is going to go smoothly  ::)

The new fork arrived. The finish is still rather poor, but at least the large groove in the fork shaft is not there anymore. I will build and ride the bike, however I won´t buy anything from SPcycle again. I had ICAN, Velobuild and Longteng frames before, all made a way better impression.

I´ve got question regarding tire size:

has anyone tested a Schwalbe 2.35 tire (maybe Racing Ralph) or a Maxxis Aspen 2.4 or similar on the rear tire? Or at least Schwalbe 2,25"? If yes is there enoug clearence?
It would be interesting for me. Because when I buy a gravel with such a tire clearance I wanna give away my MTB.

Thanks! It’s a sram bb, sram force crankset and 42 size chainring, I also tried a 46 and a 50. The 46 was ok not very much room but I would’ve used it like that. The 50 fit but the only thing that fit in between the chainring and the chainstay was a piece of paper  ;D

In the back you can mount fenders, in the front not really I think because you only have 1 mounting point in the fork above the tire. I have a Meinier so maybe it’s different with the spcycle.

Nice build, enjoy your rides!

Have they made a change in design in the seat tube area already?
Look at the comparison between yours and mine.
Also, the clamping on yours is different from mine. Yours clamps with the two bolt on the back of the seatpost, mine has an inserted clamp.

Is there a weight / quality difference between the Spcycle and Meinier frames? Has anyone weighed an XL frame with paint?

I don’t know maybe someone with more experience with both brands can you tell you more.
I went for Meinier because of the qc control issues with the spcycle forks. But the meinier one also wasn’t pretty but nothing to worry about.

Got my frame shipped, about 1 month after the order was placed. Custom paint job cost me 100 Euros.
Im pretty happy with both the frame and the paint job, will post assembled bike later.

Could anyone of the SP028 (or similar bike geometry from other suppliers) owners let us know some testing experiences?
How is it on Street (geometry looks comfortable, but is it fast too)?
How is it on trails and off road?
Did someone rode very rough grounds?

I`m 179cm long and have appr. 86cm innerleg length, but don´t have very long arms. I tend to size M, would you agree?
I would like to ride such a frame with 2.2 odr 2.25 tires and for the most rides it should replace my MTB.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same measuments as you, for sure you need an M size on this frame, as me. Regarding the arm length, you'll need to use a shorter stem than me...

sure, its the Lexxon Unox

Hello. I recieved the frame and the handlebar (Lexon Unnox). How do you mount it? With the handlebar it comes 2 different spacers to put between the top bearing and the top cover of the headset that comes with the handlebar (for integrated routing). But with one of them (the metallic one), there's any space between the cover and the frame, and the handlebar dont turn smooth. And with de plastic one, there's too much space between the frame and the top cover...
Thanks!! (And sorry for my english... Im not using translator)

Does this frame work with a road specific groupset like 105 or Ultegra?

Hey.

Unfortunately, no. I tried a Shimano 105 7000 crankset and it didn't work. I now have a GRX 1x crankset and it's fine.

What was the issue with the 105 crank? Curious cuz I was planning on using an old Shimano 6600 groupset.

Unfortunately, the Q Factor of a road crankset is too narrow. The chainrings will rub against the frame. You could theoretically add axle spacers, but only a limited number, which likely won't help. Before the frame arrived, I asked Spcycle about mounting a Shimano 105 crankset, and they replied that the frame was designed for GRX cranksets with a larger Q Factor.

The current 105 has the same q-factor (148 mm) as the Magene TEO @methylamine built with.
It's true for older generations though.

Yes, but he still put spacers on the axle. I asked him what size spacers he put in, but I didn't get an answer.

Tested it today. I have an alloy ThinkRider crankset with a power meter, measuring approximately 147 mm Q-factor. When I put Shimano R8100 46/36 chainrings on it, the small chainring almost touches the frame. With a +2 mm spacer on the DS, there is a comfortable amount of clearance, but I think +1 mm should also be fine.

These Chinese cranks have splines on the end of the spindle where the NDS crank arm is mounted that are about 5 mm longer than Shimano's, so it should be safe even if the NDS crank arm is not pushed all the way in. They also don't have the safety pin found on Shimano cranks.

Thanks for your feedback. The crankset I was planning on using was an old ultergra 6600 triple. I'm guessing the small chainring would clear without issue (and larger q factor). With this in mind, do you happen to know if this would be compatible? Thanks in advance.
