Title: chinese carbon saddles
Post by: tkehler on November 05, 2015, 03:39:10 PM
Hi

New owner of Chiner bike.

Would like to know if there are Chinese "copies" of reasonably well known carbon ultra lightweight saddles, say those by Smud, Berk, or Ax?

I am just curious. I ride a Cobb saddle, but would like to try something like a Smud, Ax or Berk without the price tag. Thanks

I switched to a $35 full carbon saddle that looks like an SMP from aliexpress.

Despite its austere look and after a few months of riding, I'm very happy.
Much more comfortable( it has more flex ) than my previous heavier padded saddle.

I see some mercy in people's eyes when they ask me how it feels :)
But at that price, the test is quite cheap.

Glad you like it. I have owned 2-3 SMP saddles, but they don't work well for me. I find them sharp in the wrong places, except when I'm fairly aero.

Thanks

I'm surprised you know Smud ;) will have my bike complete on Thursday with the cheap carbon saddle so more input will be available

Cool, congrats Johnny! Yeah, please put up some posts about the bike and the saddle ;-)

Subbed. There's some saddles on Ebay for ~$20 shipped. At that price, I figure it's worth a shot before I spend $100+ at the LBS for something else that may or may not work. My concern is that I also ride my road bike in regular clothes.

I ordered one on ebay after my last post. So far I like it on my road bike, though I haven't spent much time on it. It didn't fit my bontrager seat post due to the oval rails. I'm temporarily using a set back post, which puts me too far back. I can say that I don't like it on my rigid mountain bike though. It has a similar shape as the specialized romin, which I was looking at before.

Any reviews on the SD1 or SD2 saddles from Peter or other vendors?  I'd like to try one, but would like feedback and actual measurements if anyone has them.

I have one of the saddles from Peter, not wide enough for me unfortunately (125mm) but the finish is nice.

Thanks Johnny- my current saddle is also 125 mm wide, so I may try it.

I went with this one, $21 off of Amazon and free shipping if you have Prime.  You can choose glossy or matte finish.  Mine was right at 100 g.

http://www.amazon.com/Feifan-Carbon-Bicycle-Cycling-Saddle/dp/B014H9C55C?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00

I haven't done any long rides, but for a one hour ride it feels as good as any saddle I've used.  It felt fine riding around the neighborhood in regular shorts, but I wouldn't go for a real ride without padded shorts.  It is 125 mm wide and seems to fit my ass OK.  It has carbon rails, which are taller than normal saddle rails but fit fine on my EC-70 post.

I am concerned about how long it will last, as I weigh 205 lbs/93 kg and seem to be pretty heavy on the saddle- all of my saddles creak eventually, and I have had one break (the rail).   Maybe my fear of the carbon rails snapping will convince me to stay out of the saddle on any rough terrain. :)

I ordered on of these for $35. http://www.ebay.com/itm/3K-Full-carbon-Leather-Road-Bike-Soft-Saddle-MTB-Seat-Bicycle-Cushion-Newest-/281901788381?var=&hash=item41a2a7ecdd:m:mMoJtIE2WfOYHgFx09O_CLw

It actually has some padding. ;D

I also got a SMP copy. That has got to be the hardest saddle I've ever used. My ass bones were a hurtin.  :'(

It's probably not surprising, but these saddles don't hold up well in crashes. I went over the bars in a crit; the back corner of the saddle had an impact with the pavement snapping one of the rails at the back and cracking the front. It wasn't really a "catastrophic" failure, as I've been pushing my luck riding it this last week. It's a decent saddle, but I'm not sure if I'll get another.

If you are unlucky, and hit carbon well on any part of our bikes, it will break.

@RS_VR6, did you try it with a very good chamois?
If you do not like the saddle, resell it, some people here like them :)

Mine is quite beaten up but still holds fine.
But I would be heartbroken if I paid the $500 for an original.
I just ordered a new version, this time it has a leather cover with a skinny padding.

The more I ride it, the more I like mine.  I have not done any rides longer than an hour and a half, but I had no soreness or other issues after that ride and it included a decent climb on a gravel road.  Shorts slide around easily on the smooth surface (no bunching up), and the edges don't bother me as much as they first did- there's no rim on the edge, so if you lean your leg against it to control the bike all the pressure is in a thin line (not sure if I just got used to it, or if I'm not leaning on it as hard).  I did have to torque down the rails quite a bit though- at 5 Nm I still got creaking and popping and had to tighten more.  I don't have a good torque number for where it's at now- not super tight, but definitely more than 5 Nm.

I always ride with a good ;D chamois. The SMP copy was something that my rear could not get used to. It felt like there is absolutely no give in the saddle. My girlfriend has a real SMP Dynamic ...haha...it didn't feel any better.

The one I just got (S-Works copy) feels much better. Seems like there is some give in the shell. The thin padding seems to be enough to get rid of that rock hard feeling the SMP copy has. Feels harder than the Phenom I was using...but not by much. Only thing now is to see how long the cover will last.

Does anyone know if there are light saddles with steel or titanium rails on AliX?

Found the new GUB 1183.
Titanium rails, carbon base and 165g for 30€.
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005002004145128.html

I contacted GUB to make sure the weight is right, the 268g gross weight is hopefully just with packaging or something. If so, I'll order it.

Almost all other options I found are ugly af or >200g.

The Toseek Pro143 seems ok too. 200g for 17€, with CroMo-rails and Nylon? base.

Came in after less than 2 weeks, and looks good so far. Didn't ride it yet, cause it's freaking cold in the moment.

Using that same saddle on my FM936 and the GUB 1159 (almost the same, but no perforations) on my Signal Peak, no problems with either.

Both have thin padding, but the shape is right for me.

I purchased one of these,
It bruises my ass with good shorts. Seems too narrow with too much slant where the bones of my 180 lb frame. fit.
the tissue between my  pelvic bones gets pinched  loads  up and then suddenly slip past one another while riding. ....it's an awful sensation.

Durable enough, light enough, beautiful part. great price....but sucks as a seat for me.
gave it two rides and had to take 4 days off riding...to sit back on a seat.  I'm done with it.

I have some specialized bontrager, wtb and selle italia seats currenlty .....this is far and away the worst seat I have ever ridden in 30 years of mountian biking.  Your mileage may very.

Saddles are always a tough one to recommend because we are all different shapes/sizes and we all do different types of riding. I do a lot of road racing and therefore i spend a lot of my time in an aggressive aero position on the nose of the saddle, probably more suited to a tt saddle but for the climbs I sit towards the back of the saddle. Having the cut out go the whole way to the tip of the saddle is important to me, other saddles with cutouts stopped short of the nose and left me feeling uncomfortable in my soft tissue regions after aggressive aero efforts.

I have found this saddle gives me the best of both worlds, comfy on the nose like a tt saddle and comfy on the back like a normal saddle. It might not be for everyone but it is definitely the best saddle I have ever ridden.

You're right discussing saddles should always come with the context why finally we found the good one.
Mine above, the relatively austere https://a.aliexpress.com/_mMQtIyV
Is good if you don't have much room for a saddle, big thighs/small hips.
It is the only light one I found on Ali, that was that narrow. A narrower would probably be even better.

I've been riding this padded carbon saddle for a few weeks and have been pretty happy so far. I was on a unpadded EC90 for a while, the original and replacement cracked in the same spot but I kept riding them with gorilla tape. Unfortunately I did myself a disservice and shredded a few bibs in the process. Really wish I had gone for one of these padded carbon saddle in retrospect and they are still light around 120g.

This one feel like it could be a tad narrow as I find myself slipping over to one side or another so time will tell.

yeah, my experience too, I bought the 5D (when the brand was still 'Redshift', before they got a warning and changed to 'Mixed') and used it for about 1yr - before I changed to the Ryet Aircode 3D mentioned some comments ago
anyway, well constructed and finished saddle the 5D, no issues in this year of use and is now my backup saddle. But I weight 63kg, so not the worst a saddle can be put through lol

If you want that same lightweight carbon saddle, but with better cushioning, I recommend buying from this seller. The cost is $10-12 USD more than the regular version, but the cushioning is superior (I have both) and it also comes in brown.

I bought 3 of these in 143mm to cover all my bikes after I bought my wife 2 of the Rock Bros 155mm saddles for my wifes bikes and they were so good.

If you have the chance to try a 155 Rock Bros from amazon, try it!  It is significantly better in every way!

I just received my $17.50 Kocevlo 120 gram saddle.   I have historically ridden on Selle Flight saddles and my weight standard is around 120 grams or less.

This Kocevlo has very close to the same dimensions as my Flite saddles I have been riding for may years.  I can't believe that I can purchase a Chiner saddle for under $20 and it appears to be as good as or better quality as what I used to pay over $100 for a Selle Flite saddle.

Just took my Elita one saddle out for a 20 mile gravel ride and it’s the most comfy saddle I’ve ever used! I know saddles are a very individual thing, but this one fit  me just right.

I have the same sale in wide on my road and gravel bikes and I love it.  They've been holding up well so far so I might try one on my mountain bike as well.  It's one of the lightest wide saddles I've seen,  and they are well made.

Have been using the Mixed 7D saddle for 2 months and I must say I am impressed. It's more comfortable than the Prologo Scratch Tirox I was previously using at a fraction of the price and half the weight.

So my social feeds urged me to try out Selle SMP saddles for a while.
I've been curious and more or less on a whim I bought the Velobuild replica of what I believe is the Selle SMP Dynamic saddle. It's their long standing classic. I was expecting this to be an instrument of torture. And while I still have to ride this for more than 2 hours straight, I'm really surprised as to how comfy this is. Once you have it dialed in, it kind of feels like you're sitting on something that basically perfectly fits your pelvis. I had to set this way further forward than my previous saddle because it basically has to disappear under your bum. You can't sit on the nose of this thing. There's pretty much exactly one spot only where this saddle feels comfy. But once you've found it, you're locked in position and you basically rotate your pelvis back and forth while sitting on the same part of the saddle depending on how aggressive you wanna ride. You do not move back or forth on this saddle at all. No sliding towards the nose and having to readjust your bum when tucking down. I'm very intrigued.
You do however have to live with the way it looks. The best thing about the design of this saddle is that most of the time you're sitting on it. :)

You are definitely putting me on some gems with your findings. I've been looking for a saddle like this but couldn't find one that wasn't just full on carbon. Will definitely have to try it out. Also going to try Serenade Wheels during the summer.

There is some minimal padding on there and the upper material is very basic but grippy nonetheless. Also, the bonding between the rails and the saddle shell is very basic. Not as polished and well finished as some of the Ryet saddles you can find on Aliexpress for instance. But it's solid enough. Weight is 160g on my scale.

The price for these is barely any cheaper than at major retailers in Europe. So I reckon these might just be the real thing.

I bought mine eons ago (2017) on ebay, full carbon, no padding, for <30 usd. So the chinese carbon version absolutely exists / has existed.
Sorry if my comment was a bit confusing that's what I was talking about. All the ones I've seen like the one you have was just carbon versions and I wanted just a bit of padding like the one from Velobuild. Anyways, whats the experience like with yours? Might just pick up a carbon one if it's similar enough.

I saw your post about this velobuild saddle and immediately reached out to Chris to inquire and placed an order.

A week has passed and it still hasn't shipped. Asked Chris for an update and was told it was out of stock!

I'm now told it will ship mid next week but I'm ready to cancel the order if it doesn't ship as promised.

It's my first time dealing with velobuild and doesn't look promising.

Did you run into the same issue? How long did they take to ship yours?

VB is a broker, they buy stuff from factories and resell it. It's a distribution channel, essentially. Their core business definitely isn't selling saddles. Before you order from Chris it's best to ask him what's in stock or not. The good thing is they can usually source anything you want. On my gravel builds i wanted non integrated flared bars with internal routing, and he was able to find that, even though it wasn't listed on the website.
If he took your money, he will ship you your saddle.

That's fair and that's exactly what I did and I totally understand if that's how their business works.

He could have told me though that it was not in stock or might have to wait several days when I initially inquired, but he didn't and just told me they'll ship after x number of days. I had to ask several times before they confirmed it was not available.

I can wait if he'll deliver just like what you mentioned, but a clear communication would go a long way.

Thanks for your assurance btw!

Yeah, I agree that VB isn’t always the most well organised neither the most transparent seller. I never received any shipping notice on anything I bought from them without me asking for it. It was no different with this saddle. Can’t remember since I wasn’t pressed for time. It might have taken the usual two to three weeks. I basically almost forgot that I ordered it and was about to ask Chris whether they had shipped it when I had the package in my mail.

Post by: coffeebreak on April 01, 2024, 03:53:01 PM
Pretty much everyone who has dealt with VB have similar stories. In my case they forgot to send bottom bracket and extra derailleur hangar. I didn't realize rd hangar was missing and only asked for missing BB to Chris who said yeah he will send it. Nothing happened for two weeks so I asked again and he says oh it wasn't shipped? Let me check. Then next day sent a mail saying it's been shipped. About a week later I got bb in the mail. Another week passed and I got another bb in the mail :D exact same thing happened with rd hangar a month later too.

There's a clear communication gap between who actually packs/ships and Chris. I received the updated C ring in similar fashion - no tracking, no proper response just one mail from Chris saying it shipped. They might be lousy with communication but they won't steal your money or at least that's how I feel.

I purchased the “3D-1 Gloss Bottom” saddle found here: https://a.aliexpress.com/_ms36gEq - it looks an awful lot like the 3d specialized power saddles. I switched to this from a specialized power comp (not 3d). While the size and form is nearly the same, my ass was sore 30 mins into my first ride with the 3d saddle. Maybe it needs getting used to or breaking in, but for now I would not recommend. Will try it for a few more rides and post an update.

Comfort aside, my ride does look quite nice with the 3d saddle.

I think VB is a very lean operation, Chris probably does most / all of the customer facing interactions, and i doubt they have a proper CRM software / system in place. Who knows how they handle "tickets / orders". So if it's just him & tools from 20 years ago (excel, paper, a notebook, who knows) there's nothing automated, and unless you ask, you dont get a step by step follow up of your order.
Being disorganized like this may also help them tax wise, who knows. The more structured you are, the easier it is for any kind of audit to take place. If you throw your arms up in the air and say "whaaaat, are you crazy, do you know how much work that would be to gather all this information?", it's harder to audit :)
Either way, stuff works with them, it just takes a bit more involvement from all sides.

It pretty much looks like that. Anyhow, I chased Chris again and was told they'll be shipping my order on Saturday (initially promised mid-week, but ok..).

Fingers crossed!

I got my order yesterday (finally!). It is indeed well made and weighs 180g on my scale. It has some minor imperfections with the upholstery underneath, but very negligible.

The only problem is that Chris told me initially that it comes in 15CM width that's why I ordered it, but what I got is only 13CM. What a bummer! :(

I've been testing this one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006659891238.html

(The normal padded one)

For a few weeks now and it's been super comfy in a very aggressive racing position. Actually surprising how comfy it is for how little padding there is compared to my old fizik saddle. The rails feel solid and everything. It's not the most lightweight at around 150g but it feels much better than those extremely lightweight ones at 100g-ish.

Going from left to right, looks like a Romin Mirror (15mm shorter), Fizik Vento Argo, & a variation of Power Mirror.

The Romin Mirror has the most reviews from another listing while the other 2 do not have as much. I'm curious to try this as well but might just get the Velobuild's version of the SMP Dynamic to try

I have this Romin Mirror copy from Ryet and it is the best saddle I've ever had.
Weight was about 183gram so not the lightest.

I bought another one for my MTB because it was so good, especially compared to other lexon/ryet saddles. I've tried 4 of their saddles, but this is in a different league. Carbon looks way cleaner, and overall  3d print is really good.

Has different hard spots and soft spots, so I'm pretty sure some thought has gone into this saddle.

Other saddle I've tried from ryet are: Premium 3d (Saddle rails were out of alignment, so got a warranty, which was also out of alignment lol.), Ultimate 3d carbon, Aircode carbon

Let me know if you need any more if or pics of the saddle

Oh wow I was looking into the Romin copy as well along w/ the Power Mirror copy. Did the decrease length (compared to the actual Romin) change anything for you? AFAIK, the Romin is more of a curved saddle instead of a flat one like the Power so I was thinking the extra length would help in climbing

Been using it mostly on my trainer. Had issues getting it dialed to my fit since it is narrower than my Berk Lupina saddle, but it was surprisingly good once I got it dialed in!

As it is narrower, it felt like I could spin faster, and allowed me to drop further to a more aero position comfortably or when on the drops because of the 'eagle beak' without causing numbness down there!

I also just got this saddle, but I haven't done any rides on it yet. Agree that it looks and feels very well made, with thick and dense cushioning at the back, and thin and light cushioning through the pressure relief channel and at the front. Possibly a little too thin and light at the front? Time will tell.

The rails look like a single piece that's attached to base, so hopefully no weak spots, like on other saddles that can break where the rails attach to the base.

It's a tall saddle - measured from the rail to the top of the cushion. I swapped it for my Mixed 7D saddle, and I had to drop my seatpost nearly 2cm to maintain the same saddle height. So perhaps an issue for those that have frames with seat masts or other setups with limited adjustment. Or maybe the Mixed 7D saddle is just unusually low.

I haven't tried the authentic romin saddle so can't say :/

I ride in a pretty agressive aero position for a long time on mostly only flats, and at least it's very comfortable for that.

Picked up the Mixed 5D saddle recently.  I have about 100 miles on it this week and I gotta say, this thing is awesome!

I don’t have any rides over 2 hours on it yet but I don’t see longer rides being a problem, although it is slightly firmer than I usually prefer, it’s shaped just about perfectly for my build and riding posture.

I got a used Ryet Aircode in my area and decided to try it because I didn't really like the saddle on my gravel bike.
I liked it so much that I bought a 2nd one for my road bike. The 3D surface didn't give me any "wow" effect. But I found it to be just an overall comfy saddle. I like the wide nose and wide sitbone area. No chafing issues on my thighs and no damage on my bibs. I've done all day epic rides on pretty gruesome gravel last weekend, around 450k in total. No problems. Did a 3h ride on the roadbike just yesterday with lots of climbing. All good.
I find it just as comfy as my old and trusty Sworks Power on my 2nd roadbike but I tend to not slide forward as much on the Ryet. And it's comfier to ride it "on the rivet" because of the wider nose IME. For around 35EUR new this thing is an absolute steal IMO.

I tried ryet premium saddle and it was only good at the start then it was getting to soft and my sitbones where hitting the carbon. I also tried x6-3d model and was also to soft and on top of that the 3 printing was very "sharp" on longer rides and just scratch and hurt my bottom. Same harsh feeling I got from west biking. So lots money wasted on saddles.

But now I think I found the one. Just did 150km ride on it and it was perfect. This one is a keeper. The new ryet spesh Romin mirror copy. Can recommend.

Interesting. For me 99% of saddle comfort/discomfort comes from the shape of the saddle shell. I almost don’t really care what the padding is like as the bib chamois does most of the job anyway.
The Aircode’s shape just works for me. The padding is fine but not mind blowing. But then again I’ve been riding bare carbon saddles in the past as well and it was fine as long as they fit. I even did a 180k cobblestone Paris-Roubaix kind of race on one and still ride it to this day on my commuter.

Th e best thing about the design of this saddle is that most of the time you're sitting on it. :)

@Sebastian, can you give more details about this saddle? How wide is it 130mm or about 140mm? How much foam is there? How about wearing a material after some that time? Can you upload photo from the top?
I am asking, beacuse I was using Selle Italia slr superflow slr L3 (143mm) on endurace bike and it was perfect, but after switching to aero bike with more aggressive position I started to produce sore between butt and leg throught which i had two months of the season off my bike.
My hypothesis is that after switching I started rubbing with bibs in the sore area that is why I am trying to find more narrow saddle with slender expansion on the ischium.
Next week I will try to borrow Selle Italia slr superflow slr S3 (130mm) and test it, unfortunately it is hard to find SMP saddles to borrow.

@aeroskiii, did you buy any of those?

I am looking for a weight weenie (narrow) full carbon saddle. Three candidates below.

It looks like the last two are replicas of the Gelu K1, while the first one is slightly longer:

TLO 65 saddle (120 x 260 mm, 75.7g, 76 EUR):

Ryet K1 (122 x 242 mm, 58g, 87 EUR):

OdinZeus K1 (122 x 242 mm, 57.5g, 109 EUR):

Anyone have tried any of these?

Curious about the weight difference of the first one, while the Ryet and OdinZeus looks to be exactly the same thing except for an additional mark up on the latter.

Reviews of the Ryet are not that encouraging, as there are several cases with cracks after the first rides (see pictures). On the other hand, Ryet offers a 1 year warranty replacement which I do not know if any of you have ever used. No idea about the warranty of OdinZeus, as I have never bought from them either.

Cheers!

Yup I use the gelu k1 clone. It has been perfect on my flight attendant Supercaliber which I race pretty technical UCI courses on. Great comfort and the durability has been better than the bontrager XXX saddle and much more comfy than the aelous RSL saddle. 5/5 reccomend

It's been over a year now, and I still have a love-and-hate relationship with this saddle.
https://www.velobuildmall.com/products/pu-wrapped-carbon-fiber-much-more-comfortable

I love it because it doesn't make me go numb 'down there' while going more aero in position, but I hate it because it is too narrow for me (130mm).

I had a bike fit last Nov 2024 and fitted 3 saddles in my rotation (eagle beak 130mm, berk lupina and another saddle for indoor 150mm both), and the eagle beak causes less to no numbness at all.

It helps me spin faster and longer too compared to the other saddles I've used.

I was wondering if y'all know something similar but WIDER at 150mm. Otherwise, I think I will have to go with the original Selle SMP Well saddle.

Thanks for your feedback! Glad to read it is holding up to abuse, especially on the MTB. Those pictures of cracked saddles on AliExpress were not so encouraging.

Which of the clones did you get, Ryet or OdinZeus? Not that it matters I guess, since they are both the same... just thinking about the warranty, just in case  ;D

I have not used anything similar to the eagle beak saddles and always < 130 mm, but the Berk seems to be a more "traditional" shape.

In that regard, I have a Selle Italia SLR Carbonio Flow in one of my bikes (not Super Flow,  this one is not manufactured anymore, difference being just a shorter channel). The discomfort starts around the ~4 hours mark.  Right now I am trying a SQLab 612 which works better on > 4 hours rides and it is manufactured in different widths, including 150mm. It is pricey though  :-\

ah I'm eyeing the SQLab 612 as well. Good thing there's a bike shop here that can help ID the actual size before purchasing so that might be a better route for me then.

Thanks!

Sounds good!

You can always measure your sit bone distance at home to have an idea of the size you need.

Maybe you already know all this, if not, this is how I do it:

1. Put a towel on a hard surface, place a piece of tinfoil on top and sit down.

2. Then check the table in Step #3 in this page:

https://www.sq-lab.com/en/ergonomics/sit-bone-measurement-for-bike-saddles

3. Add the X cm that suits your riding position to the seat bone distance you measured, which will give you the width of the saddle you need.

Every saddle manufacturer tells you to add a different X amount, no consensus, so it is always better to try the saddle first or buy it somewhere where you can return it if it does not work for you  :)

Quick update (and PSA).

I finally bought the Ryet K1 instead of OdinZeus, just to compare with @aeroskiii feedback.

The weight is ~52.5 g, which is below the 58 g in the spec, great (?).

But the saddle rails are a full 1 mm smaller in both width and height (!) ::)

I measured  ~5.5 mm x 7.5 mm vs. the specified 6.5 mm x 8.5 mm.

This makes it impossible to use in any of my two road bikes, as both of my seat posts use 1 bolt type of clamp for oval carbon rails (7 mm x 9 mm) or regular 7 mm x 7 mm.

Probably same outcome even if the rails where on spec., but wanted to let you all know  ;)

Anyway, time to look for a round seat post with a 2 bolt type clamp, usual suspect is the Elita One 63D: this one clamps the rails from the top/bottom, so I hope it works for such undersized rails. The other seat post is (proprietary) aero shaped so I am out of luck for that one anyway  :'(

Cheers!

I ran the plastic base Ryet Aircode on my aluminium rim break bike most of last year and was super happy. Always comfy.
I got a new carbon bike with carbon hoops during winter sales, and paired it with a carbon base Aircode, figured I'd save some weight.

The new bike had been out just a few times and I never got along with the new saddle. I assumed it was a fit issue (always difficult to perfectly re-do a fit between bikes), so I was messing around with saddle setback/angle a lot.

But yesterday I just realized the saddle with the carbon base has a super stiff upper, like it's a dramatic difference to the other one I have.
Swapped over the plastic base saddle to the new bike and went out today and I was comfy again.

I don't know if there's different batches or if this is a general issue? I kind of want to get a carbon base "soft" aircode, might just try those new softer uppers then.

I read that the front of the saddle may be to wide and leads to irritation or damage the short. Could you confirm please ?

No, the Aircode is insanely stiff. It was my first carbon saddle and I was expecting flexy, bendy carbon. What I got was a chunk of carbon fiber so stiff I would have thought it was a solid aluminum block. Still, I didn't find it uncomfortable. The shape of the Aircode is pretty good for me, honestly, but that nose is just too wide and the exposed carbon rim would occasionally get me if I didn't seat myself down on it just right.

I eventually bought a different Ryet carbon saddle with a more rounded edge (that is also covered with mesh and doesn't just leave exposed carbon) and has a MUCH thinner nose. Notably, the carbon is more like what I expected it to be, it's very flexy and bendy. Not nearly so stiff as the Aircode, not even close. I don't find it *quite* as comfortable as the Aircode, but it doesn't have those specific problems.

None of my bibs are are showing any damage. The original 3D mesh Arcode is a bit stiff, but after trying several other 3D printed saddles I've gone back to the Arcode on both my road bikes and my gravel bike. You really have to dial-in the seat post height and angle properly. The reason I prefer the wide nose of the Arcode is due to my climbing style. I tend to position forward on the saddle to get pedaling leverage. Narrow saddles tend to be less comfortable in that forward position (causing irritation for me) and the big gap in the Arcode helps keep the crown jewels comfortable!

The new T40A mesh on the Arcode is a big improvement in my opinion. I have that saddle on my gravel bike and it almost feels invisible on my butt. I would update my other Arcode saddles as well, but I'm trying not to buy more stuff. It really comes down to your riding style.  ;)

No what I meant is that the 3D printed upper is dramatically different in terms of how soft it is between these saddles. Both saddles are Aircodes, one is from early 2024 with plastic base and one is from late 2024 with carbon base.
I thought the upper would be consistent between the saddles, but it really is not. I kind of wish I had a durometer so I could prove it.

Interesting. I have 2 Aircodes, one that I bought early, as soon as they became available, and one that I bought more recently. I thought the newer one was slightly flatter and stiffer, and this thread made me go examine them. There is a significant difference in the 3d mesh, the older one has mesh with empty openings whereas the later saddle has mesh with a reinforcement X in the center of the openings. The later saddle is much firmer if you push on it, and also thinner. I believe altho I've not measured that its closer to a 140 Stealth and the older one is more of a 150ish. So they changed the mesh, and it appears they have evolved it again with the T40

FWIW I just bought my first RYET saddle

It’s a Specialized Romin Evo Pro copy. The original Romin Evo worked for me many moons ago and somehow transferred to Prologo Dimensions for quite a while. I found that these flat saddle cause a lot of chaffing on my groin area that I can’t ride my bike for days

I’m on a Selle Italia copy atm and my groin area has never felt better for a while. Can’t wait to try on the RYET

Post by: stb on March 26, 2025, 01:56:48 PM
This is a follow up of my previous findings:

https://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,776.msg76850.html#msg76850

I bought the Elita One 63D seat post and the OdinZeus K1 saddle so I could compare both (vs. Ryet K1) more closely and just keep one of them.

First, some measurements:

Ryet K1OdinZeus K1
Weight52.5 g57.9 g
Rail to Rail37.89 mm36 mm
Rail Height7.46 mm8.85 mm
Rail Width5.49 mm6.62 mm

Now, my observations:

Minor aesthetic details (see bottom pictures):

Price wise, last week I saw the Ryet K1 around 60 EUR while OdinZeus is around 66 EUR, both with discounts.

I think I will be keeping the OdinZeus, as the reviews of the cracked Ryet saddles on AliExpress do not inspire too much confidence (could the thinner rails have something to do?).

I will report back after putting some hundreds kilometers on it if it survives, fingers crossed!  ::)

Cheers!

Hi all,
Sorry if this has been answered before.  New here and have trawled the threads to find the answer, without success.  And the reviews on AliExpress aren’t clear

Does anyone know the nearest lightweight & reasonably-priced saddles that are similar to the Selle Italia SLR Superflow Boost (130mm) and the Specialized Power (143mm) saddles?  Not looking for counterfeit, just similar shapes / dimensions.

Trying to trim my bike’s weight down and already have those saddles (which work for me, fit-wise).

Thanks

I'm curious on this one (in particular for Superflow Boost in 130 mm) as well, as it is getting a lot of praise from fitters online.

I'm currently running a Kocevlo saddle (https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005006059397000.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.33.1f92lZLulZLuDq&algo_pvid=49d5a97c-6451-4765-aeb5-d5197f9944e9&algo_exp_id=49d5a97c-6451-4765-aeb5-d5197f9944e9-16&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22order%22%3A%22164%22%2C%22eval%22%3A%221%22%7D&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21EUR%2144.82%2120.17%21%21%21362.65%21163.19%21%40211b628117447256297682692ef078%2112000035545249488%21sea%21SI%21172706680%21X&curPageLogUid=J4Q1ZkIYXvmj&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch%7Cquery_from%3A). I find the saddle itself comfortable, did not experience any issues even on longer (6h+) rides, apart from the saddle taking a smaller toll on my bibs. The main issue I have with this particular saddle is a recent creaking noise. I am currently running a LightCarbon LCR-017 proprietary seat post which has a 1-bolt system I am not a biggest fan of. According to the Kocevlo, this saddle is not compatible with a 1-bolt seat posts which just might be the reason behind the creaking sounds. Anyone else experiencing the same problem with this combo (1-bolt seat post & similair carbon saddle)?

Same here. I am looking for a relatively long flat surface narrow (~130 mm) saddle. I broke 2 out of 3 of my beloved Pro Falcon's and looking for a replacement. SLR Superflow got my attention because of super wide channel which I did not see that often on neutral saddles. All of Alix copies and replicas are 140mm wide which does not suite me.

There were some sales going on during the two weeks or so I was monitoring their prices, which were fluctuating a bit but the cheapest I logged them were:

Those discount codes are displayed during sales on the front page of AliExpress and were 8 EUR  when your order was > 59 EUR, 12 EUR if total > 79 EUR... or something like that.

I would not pay 100 EUR for them either, but if you are not in a hurry and keep checking their prices, they come down around those numbers during sales  ;)

Just got around to my first long ride on it yesterday, big fan of it. One thing to be aware of is that it may require a position change from your existing saddle because it's a little thick (in my case I had to move the seatpost down a bit) but once I got the position right, very happy with it.

Has anyone tried this Elita One SLR replica saddle? Does the 3D padding have differentiated densities or is it uniform across the entire saddle?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007872984639.html

or the RT04 made by Ryet?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006265519137.html

I've been riding on the RT04 for 6 months or so now - probably the best saddle I've ever had. Comfy, but don't slide around at all.

I've seen the Gelu (Ryet) saddles myself and they are tempting. However, having owned Berk saddles in the past, I personally wouldn't go for them again. I had three saddles from Berk and had to warranty all of them. Sure, they're light and look great, and I’m well under the 100kg rider weight limit, but they always ended up cracking. So I wouldn’t be too confident in a Chiner copy either.

That said, I do have a Bjorn 3D-printed saddle on my SL8, and Ryet even has a copy of that now. For my upcoming build—which I'm aiming to keep as a budget weight-weenie setup—I decided to try the Ryet EVA saddle. It cost me £36.97 and weighs about 110g. Honestly, it looks pretty good for the price.

Ended up ordering this EVA saddle from RYET as one of the few narrow options with relatively flat top and even back to nose transitions https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006948413398.html
Slightly wider than my PRO Falcon 132 mm, slightly more curved, as well as substantially shorter, but I hope it will work. The bike build is ongoing...

Just ordered a San Marco Aspide Superleggera clone. I was on an Elita One (think it's a Specialized Power clone). I mostly encountered issues with chafing on my inner thigh (most prominently my right side). My gripe with Aliexpress saddles is that they don't offer enough more narrow saddles...

All of them are always 140 - 145mm wide. I settled on an Aspide since it's 130mm wide.

Back to searching for the perfect saddle again, oh well. If anyone knows any other narrower saddles (130mm ~ range), that'd be great.

I can tolerate a lot of discomfort on the bike but this saddle actually caused me pain. Not as bad as a Ryet (S-50 ?) but it has to be the worst saddle I have ever had and I have a couple pure carbon ones with no padding at all.

On a different note, after searching for a cheap and seen a lot of hype for the power clone the review below settled it for me. Did a long ride yesterday on it and only after 4 hours did it start to become uncomfortable. And this might have only been because at the 3 1/2 hour mark I was caught in a downpour and soaked through. - This was a off road gravel ride.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll update whether if the saddle works for me, but if this doesn’t, then I may just go to my LBS and test try a bunch of saddles myself instead haha.

I also came across this that I’d be interested in trying, but price is a bit steep. If anyone has tried this, what are your thoughts?

Just to add, I ride with the saddle level with about 4cm of handlebar drop on my gravel bike and use VERY good name brand bibs on long rides. I am ordering a few more when there is another aliex sale for my road bikes.

Hi,

I'm looking for ultra lightweight saddles for my kids race bikes... SMP saddles worked fine so far - the extra small ones (SMP Chrono or Well Junior)... Some people here wrote about SMP-Copies that where nice... Anyone got a prdouct they'd recommend for really small people?

I personally like Ryet saddles a lot - but I'm yet to find something really "thin" of them...

I've ridden it for the last month and honestly, eh. I'm probably going to go to my LBS and just try out a bunch of saddles from them and shell out for a real one. The saddle wasn't terrible but past two hours and half, it becomes uncomfortable.

I picked up one of these saddles a couple weeks back and have a few good rides on it. I'm extremely happy with it so far. The nylon shell flexes more than my other saddles and adds a significant amount of comfort. Maybe not for everyone but if you're in the 135 to 140 saddle width range, it's worth the $15 trial.

I've got nearly a year and 5000 miles on my Mixed 5d saddle now.  Still loving it.  Put a second one on my road bicycle.  Have spent a dozen 6-8 hour days in the saddle, over a dozen 3 hour trainer/rollers sessions too.  Saddle is always comfy.

This one was of the very few purchases that went straight into the bin. This was the absolutely worse saddle I have ever tried. I would advise anyone against it if they ask me. The shape was just weird. Best cheap buy for me was the 3d printed kocevelo seat. Excellent even on 8+h rides.

This impression is after about 250km after switching from my Selle SMP Hybrid.
My rides lately have been about 2 hour long, and it's more comfortable than what I was feeling with the Selle.

Yup, I too recently purchased the Mixed 5D based on comments here. Had prologo, specialized, selle Italia, prime, in the past. Weighs 120 grams and even the bottom finishing looks great for such an affordable price. It feels good though everyone’s butt needs something different. However with the saddle being much shorter than I was used to, the fore/aft positioning was crucial for comfort.

Previously was using https://eu.alpkit.com/products/sonder-zone-cut-out-saddle (size 133) and didn't notice much in the way of difference between them besides the 'gripiness' of the honeycomb on my bibs

It's the other way EVA has less cushioning than 3D printed ones. I had two different Ryet saddles, one was the OG RYet with 3D printing and the other one is 100g with EVA.

Ive used this one for over 15k km. Has worked great. Have two of them, both weighing in at 160g in the 3d print version. I am now experimenting with other Ryet models just to see if i might get on a tiiiiny bit better with a saddle with less curve in the back. But i really really need a saddle that is relatively narrow (<145mm) and yet has a nose of at least 40mm (the one you linked measures in at 41mm).

I just ordered a ryet that seems to be a Berk Ploh 143 clone that is a little longer than the one you linked but has a 45mm nose.

I had ordered the version with the hybrid raw carbon and 3d print but it cracked on first use, unfortunately. See attached photos for model and damage. I'm hoping the normal non hybrid version doesnt have the same structural flaw as i liked the shape even more than the ryet power saddle

I have both a 3d printed-full carbon base and rails on my roadie and an EVA top-full carbon base and rails on my hardtail XC bike. Been riding them for a little over a year. Rides up to about 2.5 hours. Both are comfy. The 3d printed version feels more cushiony. The carbon base is pretty firm. The EVA top can get "squeaky" when my bib shorts may get damp from sweat or conditions and I move/shift on the saddle.

Their different 3D prints vary very much on how cushy they are too.
Have not tried an EVA padded one but three different Ryet Aircode 3D printed.

Base version, honeycomb, steel rails- very soft and nice
Carbon base, honeycomb - super stiff, had to sell it.
Carbon base, different 3D printed upper with different zones. Somewhere in between. I can ride it but not as comfy as the basic version. A lot lighter though.

Yeah it’s just the plastic base version: https://a.aliexpress.com/_EHFhBIU

Then the stiff one is same upper pattern but carbon base (but side by side it was super obvious the upper was stiffer on the carbon base one). The one carbon base I have of this saddle that I like is the one called T40A in that link.

I already have an older Ryet Aircode and Ryet X6P, both are carbon with 3d printed cushioning.

But, I'm building a new bike so I just rolled the dice on the carbon base version of this one:

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806761994129.html

I like the 3d printed mesh on my Ryet saddles, but I wanted to try this shape and the price difference was more than I was interested in for a similar one with 3d printed mesh. I already am very comfortable on my X6P. I figure if I don't like the shape of the new one, the 3d printed mesh wouldn't help anything. If I do like the shape, but the comfort is diminished by the non-3d top, then I can just use it on whatever bike I'm not putting century rides on because - again - I'm pretty well covered by my X6P.

Great.  I will give it a try.  I currently use the Aircode Carbon Base and it is okay. Jsut a little hard after a few hours.  The plastic base should help that.  Again. Thanks.

Has anybody checked their Ryet saddle to see if the saddle rails are straight? I received my RT03 saddle the other day, and noticed straight away that they seemed a bit off. I used a spirit level to check and I was correct, so have returned for a refund. A shame as it looks like an amazing saddle for the price

Yes, same with K29S model. Returned the first one, ordered a second one in faith it would be better, but it's the same. A pity, because I really wanted it. They are way off, surprised people don't notice.

If you're a fan of or have been wanting to try a Specialized Power Saddle with Mimic but don't want to spend $150+...

I had the plastic base/metal rail version of the WildSide saddle for about a year before breaking it during a bad day at the mtb bike park and actually preferred it to my actual specialized saddle before that.

They now make a carbon base/rail version for about $40. If you want something a little lighter and more stiff.

(i can't get the actual WildSide AliEx store to open for me or i'd post a more direct link)

You can't really tell anything from that photo. Did you try to make a video showing the hollow(?) portion flexing or anything?

Weirdly enough, just returning stuff is often way easier than getting a fault acknowledged.

Any suggestion for a wide (150-155mm) carbon saddle that isn't stiff like a plank?
I had to return the Ryet Aircode 3D honeycomb because the carbon base didn't flex at all, and with my 80+ kg I compressed the 3D mesh completely so it was way too hard.
Also riding a 155mm Specialized Power Arc clone from KOCEVLO, and the carbon base is much more forgiving, but would like a longer model...

This is perhaps an odd question but has anyone found excessive wear on their bib shorts caused by a 3D printed saddle? I'm kind of interested in trying one out but not too keen on doing it at the expense of my bib shorts.

I’ve ridden two 3D printed saddles (Ryet Aircode and other Ryet one) for the last 2 years and this hasn’t been a case for me. But some forum users can confirm it does eat their bibs quite a bit.

IMO the only time there is ware on the bibs, is when people dont sit properly on their saddles (read saddle too high) and they rock from side to side. Not only is this not comfortable (and the search for saddles continues) but it also causes "shaving" effect on the bibs material.

I have used 3d saddles for the last 30K km or so. Never an issue.

I had bib wear on my ryet aircode (the pro stealth version). It's definately a combination of the open cell 3d print at the edges and the wide nose design and nothing to do with saddle height as someone mentioned. I placed gorilla tape at the edges and the rubbing was gone.

Everybody is different, my friends use the same saddle and have no bib wear. I purchased the sworks mirror copy from ryet and it's been perfect, the nose is narrower and tapers in more aggressively than the pro stealth copy.

Can confirm that the original Aircode has a SUPER wide nose that led to some rubbing on my thighs. I was worried about ruining my bibs, but after a few hundred miles I never saw anything that bad. I switched from an Aircode to a different Ryet saddle with a 3d printed top (no wide nose) and I see zero rubbing and zero bib wear after thousands of miles.

I've been riding on the RT04 for 6 months or so now - probably the best saddle I've ever had. Comfy, but don't slide around at all.
Hello!
Are you still using this saddle? How would you describe the saddle padding? Is it soft or stiff, thick enough? I have a saddle with a 3D padding, not exactly the same, but also with a honeycomb structure, and it's too soft and thin, even in the sitbone area. I can easily push it to the base.

I bought this Ryet Ultimate https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005006948413398.html (https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_c3Wd3ZGp) saddle in March of this year, it's been 9 months of intense use with a crash in the middle, the carbon has only cracked but it still works perfectly after more than 7000km super comfortable and highly recommended

I just ordered a ryet that seems to be a Berk Ploh 143 clone that is a little longer than the one you linked but has a 45mm nose.
https://a.aliexpress.com/_msys5W1
I had ordered the version with the hybrid raw carbon and 3d print but it cracked on first use, unfortunately. See attached photos for model and damage. I'm hoping the normal non hybrid version doesnt have the same structural flaw as i liked the shape even more than the ryet power saddle

What’s you weight? This is what i’ve ordered and now i’m scared it might fail at me

During these latest sales I picked up a Mixed 5D carbon saddle for less than $25. I have to say, I'm quite impressed with it. It fits me a little more comfortably than the last Ryet I picked up (which was a big reason I bought it, because I was a little disappointed in that Ryet). I guess I now have an entire fleet of chinese carbon saddles. If I had to rank them for my personal comfort, this is my ranking:

#1 - Ryet X6P (carbon / 3d printed top) [note: I love this saddle. It fits me perfectly and I feel almost no discomfort even after finishing a century]
#2 - Mixed 5D (carbon / eva top)
#3 - Ryet (idk Superflow?, maybe) (carbon / eva top)
#4 - Ryet Aircode (carbon / 3d printed top)

I should point out, I've ridden century rides in every single one of those saddles (except the Mixed 5D, since I just rode with it for the first time this weekend). My oldest, the original Ryet Aircode, is the funniest one to me, because I find it rather uncomfortable for short rides. After 10-20miles my butt is a little sore and I would wonder why I hadn't removed it from my bike yet. Then, after 20mi, it just stopped bothering me. Every. Single. Time. I've never experienced anything like that. Of course, I did eventually remove it, because those other ones start out more comfortable and stay more comfortable.

Anyone else have a similar bad experience with the plastic base saddles?

I got a 3D-printed plastic base RYET ultimate with the cromoly rails for my commuter bike. The padding feels decent, probably a bit too soft but that's not really an issue compared to the saddle construction. The base material itself is insanely flexible, as in I can collapse the perineal cutout by just pressing on the sides. Sometimes it pinches my balls in between when I sit on it without bike shorts.

Needless to say I will be returning it.

The ultimate is a far bit slimmer than the Aircode, particularly on the nose.

If you are going for the carbon base it has absolutely no in built flex (unlike the plastic models) so if you want some cushioning go for 3d printing. If you go for EVA it will be a very firm ride.

I finally got my fit dialed in with short nosed saddles - currently testing this indoors via zwift (walgun selle italia SLR boost copy at 250x148) and it does seem to fit my needs.

Was wondering if there's a similar but 'better' and 'lighter' alternative to this for outdoor use?
the closest i could find is Elitaone 3D Printed Carbon Saddle 245x145mm

IF you found what you like why not stick with it? Riding indoors is not the same as riding outdoors. Wait to get this setup outside and then decide if you are lacking anything. If you are just trying to save 100g on a saddle, IMHO not worth it. Also the 3D printed saddles are NOT for everyone.

Having said that, I have that Elite copy of SLR and it measures and fits like my original non 3D printed SLR. However, the 3D print is very rough and if you shift a lot on the saddle, your bibs will take a beating.

fair enough and yes, I'll be testing the same walgun saddle outdoors later on when the snow clears. I also have a berk saddle that I just reserve for summer use to go with my CAAD10 build (weight weenie-ish).

Totally understand that 3d saddle isn't for everyone, that's why I'm looking for other options but might end up buying the legit one instead once I'm sure that this is my preferred saddle now.

Couple of saddle that I would highly recommend.
This Goldix www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006882249016.html <---- another copy of a power saddle that just fits.
And this ElitaOne www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007562893612.html <--------- extremely good copy of the Selle Italia. I sold my original 3D printed one and got 3 of these plus I have money left over. VERY highly recommend.

Exactly what the webpage shows if not a little less from what I remember. These are stupid light and comfy seats.

Would you say they rub a lot against the BIBs? I'm getting an expensive speed suit and don't want it to wear out.

I myself never had this issue with any saddle ever and I ride a lot. When people say that they get bibs damaged from 3d saddles, I would question they fit (saddle height).

Ok!

Hmm thinking if I should try one of the saddles you mentioned.

I can buy a used S-Works Power Arc 143mm for 90 EUR but debating whether it's worth the extra money or not.

Saddles are very personal. For example, I cannot sit on anything that has a Fizik type shape for more than 5 minutes. The selle italia types hours and hours no issues. In addition, my wife hates the 3d printed saddles but standard evo seats sure. We all have different butts and riding positions. I can only comment on the quality NOT the fit for anyone else.

Hey guys, is there anyone who have experience with both of these Ryet saddles? https://a.aliexpress.com/_EvgtnCg

I’ve been using the one in the first attached image for about two years and it’s fine (my fist road bike so I never used different saddle to compare it with), but after 1-2h it’s not super comfortable. I wonder if the one in the second attached image is better when it comes to comfort and if it’s worth the replacement.

I tried both. First one, hate it. Too firm, and the pattern is rough even through bibs. Second one, loved it but it broke during a crash. Now I'm considering getting it again or trying something else just for the hell of it.

The T40A saddle is good. An improvement over the original design. Just note, QC might differ. I have a friend who bought the same saddle and had issues with the 3D mesh deforming and jutted out from the sides, which rubs on his thighs. My two saddles don't have that issue.

Recently tried three different cheap AliX Saddles for my "somewhat modern progressive forward fit" bike. Each about 40 Euros.

Two 3D Printed Selle-SMP Copies:
Elita One - 255x140mm-3DEX
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005007562819812.html
GOLDIX PS-GLAXY 3D
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005010502409176.html

And the 3D BALUGOE TT (non carbon version). Dont know which saddle this is a clone of.
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005009584370300.html

Really liked both SMP copies a lot! About as comfy as my old original Selle SMP. But not quite as ugly and way lighter. Ended up keeping the Goldix version as it has a bit wider front an nicer middle channel. Recommend both!

The TT-Saddle copy was very weird at first and is very short!. After tilting it quite a bit and pushing it very far forward it was pretty good in a aero position, but not nearly as nice in any other position.

i have the same problem! the saddle is great but the 3d mesh on the side is pressing out and is ruining all my bibs! i'm looking for an alternative! perhaps a little narrower.

I got this Elita One saddle.
The 3139B.
https://a.aliexpress.com/_msFflEZ
Almost the same shape as my Prologo NDR, which is what I was looking for. Slightly more pronounced lengthwise curve.
Sharp edges where the nylon base connects to the padding. Had to cut down to protect bibs.
Padding is just right so far.
Looks nice, not as nice as a Mixed 5D but has no seam that presses into thighs and is as flat as I need it to be.

I have that Elita One. Crazy light but it does not inspire me with confidence; way too flexy, you can bend it with one hand - and not flexy in a Fizik wingflex way, flexy in the middle sags and puts stress on the rails kind of way.

I used on the turbo for a bit but I haven't had the nerve to run it on the road, I doubt it would survive the first pothole I hit (and I say that as a sub 70kg rider).

Hello, I have ridden this Ryet saddle a lot, training sessions and races, and I have felt always very comfortable, not remember having any big falls with it.

Negative points: the saddle rails are very rudimentarily glued, it already lacks material and the synthetic leather does not last long.
The second saddle with synthetic leather is also damaged. I will test a new 3d printed model from Ryet....

Hello!
Are you still using this saddle? How would you describe the saddle padding? Is it soft or stiff, thick enough? I have a saddle with a 3D padding, not exactly the same, but also with a honeycomb structure, and it's too soft and thin, even in the sitbone area. I can easily push it to the base.

Still using, padding is firm - I can push to base with tip of finger, but if I use a wider area (e.g. whole of thumb) it doesn't really push down. Backside doesn't compress it to base - I use EI pads in shorts.

I like how I don't slide around on it also.

Not yet, but I don't think I can prove I haven't had a crash. At Eurobike 2025, I saw this saddle and other Ryet models under at least six other labels. I showed them pictures, and they all claimed the others were fakes.  ;) Probably an open-mold product. However, when I ordered it, I noticed the date had been moved forward to shorten the warranty period...

I think it's a nice sign that reflects the quality of their products. Who knows if I'll see more of them (one guy had this Ryet 3D saddle https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005006774719031.html (https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_c3FkAGbf) on a Cube Full Durace, so it's not a cheap bike).

Title: Re: chinese carbon saddles
Post by: HarryFunmaker on April 23, 2026, 09:56:56 AM
Well guys, after a year of riding I have to report that my Wildside 3D printed saddle has not passed the durability test. The 3D printed parts have gotten softer over time and way more squishy than they used to be. It's not too bad on the most dense portion of the saddle, but the other parts bottom out onto the carbon shell without much pressure at all. The end result in my case: saddle sores. I'm not sure this would be such a huge issue if not for how large the holes are on this particular model.

The carbon shell is fine. No issues to report there. I don't think I'll be trying another 3D printed saddle because I was never convinced that it was more comfortable than a regular saddle in the first place.

This is the main drawback of AliExpress: If you don't write your review right away, then you'll never be able to add one later after you actually have time to test the products.

Can't say I do, but: I'm using that Selle on my road bike, and when it was time to get something new for the gravel bike, I wasn't keen on paying their prices  (for Ti rails, CrMo is said to creak a lot) and figured I'd try the 135mm Ryet Ultimate (EVA padding). Apart from the gravel bike, the Ryet's now on my trainer bike too, and its 3D version (albeit the unlabeled one 🤷‍♂️) will be on a new bike due to arrive soon as well.
So I'd say if you're comfy on the S3 SLR, the cheaper Ultimate version might well be worth a go :)

You have a link for that specific saddle? Trying to find a comfortable saddle is turning into a nightmare for me, I think narrow (130mm suit better) is the way to go as I roughly measured my sit bones which seem to be 110-115mm, I'm in the drops a lot so not sure on shape.

I have the Ryet version on 2 MTBs and a 3D printed version of the same saddle on my road bike. after almost 2 years riding multiple rides per week on the road bike, the 3D printing seems to be breaking down a little. I understand that it costs a bit (but nothing comparable to the big brands), but with the Ryet one you'll definitely have more comfort even when it comes to TT. I've been riding that Ryet 3D printed saddle on my road bike.  I like the more flat across profile. It seems nicely built with full carbon shell and one piece looped rail. The shell makes it a firm feeling saddle when hitting bumps (compared to an SLR superflow boost with carbon/nylon shell which flexed more but was uncomfortable to me otherwise). The Ryet 3D cushion is more firm than foam of SLR but I find the Ryet saddle comfortable.  I haven't tried the Ryet foam version.

It's amazing how fast these companies are iterating compared to western brands. I'm thinking I might try the Ultimate with full carbon, EVA, at over a hundred yanqui. It to garner a lot of praise here? Full carbon has to be the way to go? It may break, but it won't creak?

The failures seem to come with the composite nylon bases, while the full carbon layups seem to be reliable for a couple of years? YMMV.

How much damage does the 3D printed surface do to bib shorts? Is it a cheese grater? This is why I'm thinking to get the EVA surface. I am curious about the way the Ryet Ultimate has a dual pattern, with less cheese grater for most of the surface, and wonder if it's a good compromise between full grater and EVA? The one shown in my attached image seems to be a fairly new model, so there's not much scuttlebutt yet?

The Elitaone Selle clone also looks great, and is almost cheap enough for me to take a flyer on it. That Selle is often invoked as a favourite. It's a full carbon base, but cheese grater surfaced.

Is https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256810334963440.html a knockoff of a Western design? Looks pretty distinctive but I can't readily identify it.

In my experience, little or none. I didn't put huge miles on mine (preferred SQLabs), but I didn't notice any untoward wear from the time I did spend on them.

I received my Ryet Ultimate Carbon EVA yesterday - and I'm actually pretty shocked - while the build is nice - the saddle is an absolute disaster for me - as my seated position vs my old Fizik with both saddles slammed forward to the max is around 4cm further back. And on my Fizik old style - due to it being a long nose - I can sit like 6-7cm forward vs the Ryet on climbs.

What the heck is a short nose saddle supposed to be if you cannot move it properly forwards.
Those saddles are only usable for those that like to sit far far far back.

I wonder why this isn't really mentioned at all. Also on Aliexpress in the reviews I only found a single other person complaining about it.

Are there any chinese saddles that are similar to a Fizik Antares and allow slamming the saddle forward a lot? And yeah best without a channel. I get one much better on saddles without channel like an oldschool Antares.

Or anything similar to the old Fizik Gobi XM with Kium rails - Those were my favourite saddles overall. Light and comfy (the Kium rail versions were always the best, more flexible vs manganese (steel) and much better than the brick like carbon Fizik saddles of old days. I got on quite well with the Arione too - but again not the model with channel.

I could be wrong, but maybe the only saddle that looks slightly similar to this one made by Ryet is https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005008183614010.html (https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_c3oCY1d5), give it a try! I hope it helps.

I don't think I can buy Ryet - they all have the same rail construction which outright doesn't work for me. I need some saddles that have rails that actually go back most the way like Fizik Kium does.

My bibs don't seem to be affected by the 3d printing.

But the 3d printing on mine is beginning to break down after almost 2 years of use. Not to the point of replacement yet. only noticeable when I press my thumb on it – then I can tell where I must have the most pressure on the saddle. Still very comfy. Eventually I'll replace it with the EVA version (which I already use on my off-road bikes).

Here is a picture showing why Ryet saddles absolutely don't work if you like your saddle not slammed back most of the way, the fizik carbon rail saddle I have actually is even better than this steel railed one..

3cm here difference when slammed forward. 4cm Vs my fizik Antares with carbon rails, a giant saddle that came stock in my revolt advanced pro 0 is 2.5cm more forward.

On the other hand if you like to slam the saddle backwards the Ryet are great. But the trend is the opposite and if you don't happen to have a ridles noah fast and find the position too extreme I would stay the shit away from Ryet.

Are thee any nice Chinese saddles that actually mount nicely forward? My old fizik saddles reach the end of their life and the new ones aren't anywhere near as fitting to my as the old Antares, aliante or Gobi...

And on the picture I'm rather giving the seated position on the Ryet some slack. Guess it's actually another 5mm  worse .

That means at least 1° slacker seated position. For some saddles in comparison rather 2°.

Hi, weirdness. This saddle was mentioned earlier in the thread, but it's saying it can't be shipped to my region (Taiwan).

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007562819812.html

If you're anywhere else, could you see if it's available to you please? It could be out of stock, and that's their default trick to keep folks shopping on their store, or they don't like my region...

Have been using a Mixed 5d for about a year. Pretty good saddle, great for the ~$30 it costs. I think I want to switch to a flatter saddle though, the big flare at the back means I'm always leaning forward and putting a lot of weight on the hands.

Tried the Ryet Ultimate 135mm carbon base + eva padding. Quality is great, doesn’t fit my body (seems to rub where the thigh and butt meet up), and it's so firm that it bruised the area around my sit bones.

Would a Ryet aircode 3d be the next or best move? I don't rotate pelvis too much, and I want something where the curve from the nose to the big pad area is steeper (like the 5d) rather than more gradual (like the ultimate). Does it actually measure 150mm wide?
Perhaps RT03 in 145?

I bought one 18 months ago just as it was so cheap to stick on a turbo bike to see if I liked the shape (it's pretty much the same as a Ryet RT03). It got put on my gravel bike when I built it with the intention to replace it but it's still there. I'd expected it to break or be uncomfortable but it's been fine for 100km rides and my 100kg weight.

Has anyone got saddle sores when switched to a 3d saddle even if you liked the shape? I'm loving my saddle but I got some rubbing on my left thigh that I didn't get before.

I suspect that it might be because of the grippy 3d texture. I'm thinking of trying the eva version of the same saddle. Or maybe I should try another saddle with a narrower mid section and nose.

So has anyone solved rubbing issues with switching from 3d to eva version? And any experiences comparing the 3d version and eva of the same saddle how is the comfort?

I'm using this 3d saddle at the moment

I have the same saddle and checked my bib shorts. The amount of wear depends on the type of fabric. On some bib shorts there is no visible wear at all, while on others—like in the picture—it is more noticeable. This is after about 800 km of riding.

lucky for you.. the side is collapsed on mine and is creating sharp edges damaging the bibs in 1 or 2 rides...rider weight 70 kg so this shouldnt be the problem...i think its a problem with the honey 3d print. I will test the normal aircode and hopefully this one is working better

I shoud have been clearer in my post, i have the light "padded" version of T01. It's essensially the carbonfibre base wrapped in fake leather, maybe gives you less slipping but no added padding :-)
The base has some built in flex that dampens the impact of small bumps, i havn't done any really long rides on it yet, the longest my butt survived is a 100k 3:30h ride.
However saddles are a higly individual thing, what suits my butt may not suit everyones/anyones butt :D.

One of them got loose after less than 300km. The other one has only 112km, let's see what happens with it.
They sent me 50% of the price back. The saddles look good, weigh 170-175g more than in the description, but that’s fine as long as they feel good and are durable.
In terms of feel, they’re not bad or comfortable for my ass, for me just regular saddles….

Has anyone had any real-world experience with this Ryet saddle? https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005008818725526.html (https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_c3NzP6p3)
I like the fact that you can choose the color; I think it will match my Gravel bike beautifully.

I have one on my weight weenie(ish) build, there is no padding, only a syntetic "leather" cover over the carbon base.
The base has some built in flex witch makes it sligtly forgiving when it comes to bumps.
Picked it beacuse of the low weigth and the narrow width model (ca130mm).

Paired with a good padded bib, it works for me, i did a 150k ride on it this weekend

So ive just checked my bibs after a few months of riding the ryet aircode 3d printed saddle, and they have been cheesegrater'd pretty badly which is a shame as i really like the saddles. It is more pronounced on my winter bibs which are a thicker material.

Do people have better results with the t40 version? Otherwise i might just go back to my pro stealth

I've got a standard ryet saddle (no 3d padding) and no issue with the bibs

It's similar on the T40. The photos are a few posts above. The issue is the honeycomb pattern on the sides and in the middle.

Well today my West-biking 3d carbon saddle snapped. I went home safely but when I realised, my winter pants were all broken near that sharp edge :(
I´ve been using it for less than a year, and I only use the road bike on weekends, so it has little use on it.
Pretty dissapointed.

Anyone using this Specialized Power Mirror Evo "inspired" saddle? Supposedly it is one of the few Ryet 3D printed saddles with 3D printed zones of various density...
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005011939379890.html

Also saw that Ryet also "cloned" the new Selle SLR 3D
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005012209019050.html
I had the original one, but returned it as despite being 3D printed it was super hard and not comfortable at all... wondering if this one is better :) (as I like the shape, currently riding Selle SLR Team Replica)

Anyone have recommendations for a non-carbon round railed saddle for a commuter bike? I have a more heavily padded road bike saddle on it now, but it doesn't work for me for some reason, maybe too much padding or wants me to lean further forward. I'm looking for, you know, just a regular place to put my butt on short to medium rides. Would love suggestions!

yeah, there are quite a few Chinese carbon saddle options. Some are surprisingly good, but I’d avoid the super cheap ones and look for real-world reviews first.

I've got this one yeah! The padding on it is definitely of some new kind - it's a lot softer and feels a lot more "squishy" when touching by hand than the other ryet saddles I've had. (Although I must say once I sit on it with bibs, I don't notice it being remarkably softer, feels just normal)

So far I've had 2 aircode's (the original honeycomb one, and then the more "filled" in 3d print style) and some other random narrow-nosed one for which I don't remember the name anymore (that one was horrible, sold instantly).

Point being, this one feels by far to contain the most dense and squishy padding. Ridden on it for ~500-600k's and so far I've been happy

Any saddles with carbon base but titanium rails (or 7x7 any metal) that are more traditional, i.e. no wide wing tips that slope down. Flatter, t shape style? Currently using elitaone SLR copy but not a fan of the 3d printed cushion, and the sloped wings rub against the inner thighs

Like a few here, I found the Ryet Ultimate with the 3D cushion (and carbon shell) was wearing out my shorts, particularly on wet/dirty rides. I also found it a little too grippy, so I couldn't easily shift my weight in the saddle while seated. I moved to an EVA cushion with a plastic shell as EVA cushion with a carbon shell was too hard, and I may well stick with this option.

That said, I noticed https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008248178090.html has a Ryet Ultimate with a 3D cushion and a cover over most of the lattice. Does that fix the short wear issue? (Also curious how the vacuum foam differs from the EVA too.)

alfiomotrambo posted one of the Ryet listings above, as for the unlabeled one I recently ordered this (3D version) but haven't tried it yet. The base looks just as good as the Ryet one's though, and the padding looks good as well:
https://aliexpress.com/item/1005010400282535.html

have you tried the 3D version of this saddle in the meantime? I have the EVA version, which I like quite well. Now I need a second one for a different bike and am unsure if I should get the 3D one or an other EVA.

Yep, albeit not for longer rides than ~6h, unfortunately. I think on longer rides in particular, it might be ever so slightly more comfortable than the EVA version but in my butt's opinion, there's not much in it.

Hello all,
Does anyone have any real life experience with heavily curved 3D saddles like the Elita One 3DEX or GOLDIX PS-GLAXY 3D?
My sensitive sitbones get along well with such a shape as on the Selle SMP saddles.
I would like to know if the 3D honeycomb is soft or hard etc. I have a cheap Ryet 3D one but this is too flat and too hard for me.

Elitaone: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/1005007562819812.html
Goldix: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/1005010502409176.html

Thanks

I have the goldix version and it's hard under sitbones, which ryet 3d, the pro stealth copy? That was also fairly hard, but in long usage it never caused any excessive pressure, I just needed to lift my butt and could continue on.

I have goldix version and it is softer than my Selle Smp Evo saddle

Thanks,
This is the Ryet one I have: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/1005006354098277. Probably the wide flat shape is worse for me than the actual hardness.
It's correct that the Selle SMP saddles are hard as well but if the shape fits that is ok. Would you say that the Goldix shape/ fit is comparable to the SMP?

I was asking about the hardness because I do have another 3D printed one from LightCarbon, the SD01 which is very soft. Maybe too much so I found in the beginning as it was fine on the sitbones but it caused my butt/ leg to go to sleep after 1 hour. Over time with finetuning the angle it has grown on me and now feels very comfortable even on long rides without causing numbness.
Unfortunately LightCarbon charges $75 for shipping a saddle to EU, the same as for a full frameset. Hence my continuing quest....

I would say that Goldix shape is quite good. I like evo's shape most  and  second docici ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008391335012.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.510.7d0d18023RaRLn ). Third would be goldix and fourth Selle Smp dynamic (i dont like its shape. It is too round? for me)

Anyone know a saddle similar to the Mixed 5D but with a bit wider nose?
I really like the saddle but it’s a bit narrow when in aero position.

I bought the Kore saddle because the West biking failed after, let´s say, 1500km, so very few km in good road conditions and my 74kg ass. It broke not on the rails, but on the seat plastic structure (there is a pic of that with the ironic QCpassed sticker).
I chose the Kore because I have the wheels and everybody likes them, so I gave it a shot.
Here are a few pics comparing both models.
Hope it lasts more than the West Biking.
They are in the same US60 price range, depending on offers.

Bought the 2026 Ryet RT06s and can confirm it indeed has different density zones. Firn at the sit bone area and progressively softer towards the nose. A friend has an Sworks power mirror and can confirm it feels very similar density wise and distribution.
However ir was pretty awful/horrendous for me with groin numbness that took 2/3 days to go a way just after two days of two hour rides. Scared it was permanent. Immediately took it off
Pretty sure my friend feels the same however he said he won't change it as he paid 500+USD for it.

Can confirm the Elita One 3dSR is a much better fit for me. Printing is softer than the Ryet and thinner yet more comfortable.

In short 2026 Ryet RT06s has zonal density for those interested and it's right around 100 USD right now. Can't say anything positive about it

Just got a Ryet P01 155mm delivered this week and done a 3-hour ride on it today. Coming from a Specialized Power Evo comp 155mm, the saddle shape seemed good but I get recurring saddle sores in delicate areas with it - I think there might be too much padding and it's causing chaffing.

I'm 81kg so fairly heavy for these Chinese saddles, however after today's ride I am pretty optimistic about this Power Evo-inspired model from Ryet. Felt pretty good overall.

The only issue, which I think someone else might've mentioned - it doesn't have as much front/rear range as the Specialized model. I've basically maxed out forward and it could probably still go a little further forward, but I think it will do. Will update if I come across any issues down the line.
