In my experience (3 frames from velobuild) the Aero Gravel frame has been great, and wouldn't worry too much about its durability. I think they have chosen to make the frame overbuilt, so it is sufficiently durable at the cost of not being very compliant. This is to say it rides more like an aluminum frame instead of a well tuned high end carbon frame, but it is still much lighter than an aluminum frame. I think its a good deal for the money, but if you are able to bump your budget up 2-300 dollars you can get a substantially nicer frame in terms of ride quality.

The elite wheels are great, the ent-gravel have a 25mm inner width which should be fine for 40-50mm tires, just won't be as aero a profile compared to some of the newer geometry's, but function will be totally fine.

Just wanted to post this for anyone trying to run a 2x setup with road gearing here. On the size S frame and possibly other size frames, the hanger is not tall enough to fit a 50t front chain-ring (not sure what the limit is probably around 46t).

To fix this I found this odd part which actually works great, it moves the FD back a few mm, but it doesn't affect shifting. Chris said he would send me a new hanger but I haven't heard back from him for a while, so not sure. Hopefully they can start shipping FD hangers with the frames that work but this is a fine solution in the meantime.

Hi all,

Building up another one of these frames with a 2x setup using the wheeltop eds TX.

Running into a super weird issue where I can't mount the FD high enough to clear the big chaining, despite having a 50-34 chainring, which is in spec for their listed 53t max.

Anyone else run into this issue, is this a wheeltop issue or the frame? I emailed velobuild but haven't heard back after a while. Seems like a pretty big issue if this is a manufacturing error.

46t fit fine for me, but only has a few mm of space so not sure about 48, maybe if you spaced it but the chainline would be bad.

Got a few hundred miles on mine, I don't think the frame is particularly compliant. Comparing to my canyon endurace, with 32mm tires, but has one of those compliant carbon seatposts (not a real suspension seatpost, but it can move around 2cm if i push hard on it), the canyon is considerably more compliant on rough pavement, even compared to 40mm tires on the velobuild. It looks like LightCarbon has some frames with pseudo suspension in the rear triangle that could be worth a look.

I got the 11-46t and the 11-52t, haven't tested the 11-52 but the 11-46 works well. Using the long cage version of the gex.

Not sure if this has already been posted here, but wanted to bump this in case others have not found this yet.

http://dreds.jeckyll.net/ lets you adjust your group set without the app, which is nice if you don't want to setup an account. You do need a web bluetooth enabled browser, so on IOS you need to use the BLELink browser. for android chrome should be fine.

Update after ~50 miles on the bike. Using a 46t pass quest chainring, on a pes515 power meter crank set, with the ztto 11-46t cassette. Shifting is great and faster than my Shimano 105 di2 on my other bike. No issues with 13 speed setup, while running a dura ace 12 speed chain.

Overall super happy with the performance, the 11-46 cassette has tight spacing and feels pretty workable for a road bike even. Will probably throw on a 11-52 for steeper routes.

Frame feels very durable, but is very stiff and not particularly compliant. Fine if your running 50mm wheels, but it definitely feels harsh with 40mm g-one rs tires. Not too big an issue for $500 dollars, but definitely not the same as top of the line gravel frames out there now.

I used the 13 speed ztto 11-46t, with a 46t up front, and also ordered the 11-52t for steeper routes. Have not tested it yet though so performance is TBD.

finishing building up my frame, did a custom paint job which came out pretty good except for some weird line thickness issues. pretty happy overall.

Just waiting on the chaining to install the cranks!

Race King 2.0 inch tires are a tight fit in the rear on 25mm rims. Will probably throw a 45 on the back and run a mullet setup once it gets wet.

Sorry for the slow response here, the whole system (frame size M, fork, seatpost, handlebars) came in at ~2150g, which is only 100 grams over the quoted weight for the size M. This was also with a 420/110mm handlebar, so maybe that accounts for the increased weight as they might use the weight for the smaller bars.
