So, I took the new v3 eRX for a spin the other day. I certainly appreciate the improved ergonomic of the new shifters. The button click feels better somehow—it's like you need that extra push to make sure it actually shifts, which means no more second-guessing if you pressed it right. As for the shifting speed, I can’t really say it's any faster because my old eR9s were already pretty quick.

One thing I that find odd is the choice of not allowing power delivery using USB-C to USB-C cable. You can only charge the FD using USB-A to USB-C cable. I assume this is to avoid charging higher voltage!? I tried bunch of cables and pretty much confirmed this. Not a deal breaker, but it would be a bummer to look for the right cable to charge the set.

Just to confirm, there isn’t charging from the RD anymore? I somewhat like magnetic charging because sometimes I forget that I’m charging my bike and I yank the cord. The magnetic cable just comes off. I guess having easy-to-access USB charging and better weather sealing takes priority.

Correct! There is no longer magnetic port the RD. I am sure if you still have spare RD with magnetic port, and if you want, you can combine all the sets since the battery holder is identical. In fact, I am using the old battery holder from my eR9 so that I don't have to do all the cable routing again. This made the setup a breeze. I am not sure how the system would negotiate the charging if you try to charge from both ports at the same time though.

I just finished watching the Trace Velo video on the new system and I, too, am disappointed to see the magnetic charging option completely removed. I understand, and welcome, the addition of the USB-C charging. But, the magnetic, break-away charging port - even if imperfect - was what I preferred.

I have kids around, and my biggest fear has always been that one of them bump or try to move my bike while I'm not around and not realize it was charging.

I wonder if LTwoo will keep the eGR magnetic or also switch it to USB-C in the next iteration? For the most part, as long as I keep my magnetic ports and cable connector clean, I haven't had issues with charging. Also my eGR has gone through heavy rains and desert dust and it still works fine. Luckily I have 3 magnetic cables (from my 2 eR9 & 1 eGR groupsets), but only use one of them. I'm safe keeping the other 2 cables as backup!  ;D

do you find your v3 levers rattle a bit over bumpy terrain? I'm finding mine a bit rattly and I am looking for hacks or solutions if anyone has.

They weren't really rattling enough to bug me, probably because I was on a pretty smooth bike path. I'll keep an ear out though. I'll definitely notice if they start making any noise, I'm super sensitive to any sound coming out of my bike.

I hope this doesn't happen. I got the wheeltops and I have the same problem and that's why I want to change them. The ltwoo 1s don't have this issue.

Aren't new V3 eR9/X shift buttons the same as the eGR? My eGR shift buttons only rattle if I poke at them repeatedly. Though I never notice if they make sound because I'm usually listening to music while riding!

He guys, I want to build my dad a cheap gravel/road bike. He never had one and just turned 76 - his dream is one day being able to ride AlpDHuez. That's wh I want to build him the right tool for this.
I think he'll need something in the Area of 46-51, so having a small reduction overall would be nice.

I heard lots of the Atwood but there are a gazillion versions on AliExpress- can anyone pinpoint me in the right direction for it? I'd guess leaving any front derailleur and problems will be easier overall...so 1x12? 1x11 should do it?

I don't know what the fitness of your 76 year old dad is, but riding Alpe d'Huez and 1x12 does not seem like a good combo. At least, unless you put in an absurdly small chainring, at which point it becomes a MTB bike with dropbars, and not gravel/road bike like you said. It might actually be worthwhile to consider hardtail MTB which has a much more relaxed position, unless your dad is very fit and flexible in his age.

Yeah I get your point, but he is rinsing a Canyon Road lite on the trainer currently which has about 0-2cm between saddle and handlebar so he is kinda used to a more sporty version. I don't think he'll like going up with a MTB. This would look like shit :D (btw: currently he sits at 2.3W/kg FTP, rode up Alpe on Rouvy Multiple times - but that's not the topic here :D)

So has anyone connected their eRX to their head units. I've connected mine to my Sigma Rox 11.1 and I'm guessing the rox doesn't quite understand what the eRX is or the eRX doesn't quite know what the rox is.

It connects. It displays gears, but when checking battery it just says 0%. And it often disconnects and reconnects.

Not sure what you mean by 46-51.
If cheap, i'd look at an Alix double chainring that's less than 50 teeth in the big ring (i forgot the options, but there's a 48 and matching small ring, 46 and matching, and so on). And a cassette that's like 11s 36T. Shimano 105 mechanical handles 36T, maybe even more (in which case, get more than 36). A 76 yo will not complain that he spins out in the descents, but should obviously get at least a 1-1 ratio.
Such a setup would still be a legit looking road bike.
Gravel gearing, i know nothing about. I just know from personal experience that it's a bit of an insult to say you can have a gravel bike and road bike in one bike. Either that gets you a dog of a road bike, or you need a very big FTP to go uphill gravel sections.
Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.

Use a powerbank that is attached to the bike, second bottlecage is a good location for it.
