so can anyone substantiate the 40T on 55mm with 0 offset? or is this just total BS? and probaly 36T doesn't even work?

I have a 0mm offset ring on the way, once fitted it will probably give a good idea.

You could take a look at the shimano FC-M8120-1 crankset.

I'm not sure what this suggestion is for? It's a standard 55mm chainline, but with wide(ish) q-factor.  The frame is listed as 40T but clearly has much less clearance.

The guy uses a standard SLX 7100 crankset (52 chainline) with 0mm 36T, but he said it was 38T in the video. He also mentioned that it certainly has room for 40T.
