My R088 is almost ready - took it out for a short test ride and it feels amazing

Weighs 7.2kgs

Size 56 chameleon green
Ultegra 8170 11-34t with 56/32 passquest chainring (Ultegra 160/140 rotors)
Ryet 3d printed carbon saddle
Lexon thin line integrated handlebar
Carbon speed D60CU-31 T1100 rims with 5.0mm carbon spokes
Pirelli p-zero tlr rs 32c tyres

Still need to sort out some headset play, bleed the brakes,  index gears properly and add handlebar tape, cages and install computer mount (and install rubber grommets in the di2 wire holes). Hopefully get this all done tonight to test ride to work tomorrow then make any final adjustments for a long first ride Saturday

Build was fairly smooth (was aware of the battery issue seat tube issue so was prepared with a long file) - routing cables was no problem. Tubeless set up was a lot easier than I was anticipating! (Buying a proper sealer injector so much easier than trying to mount the tyres after pouring in sealant)

Photo is quite dark so as it was late when i took it out so doesn’t do justice to the paint colour - my partner has taken absolutely zero interest in any of the conversations i have tried to have with her about the build, but when she saw the paintwork in the sunshine she was all “ooooh it’s an amazing colour, so sparky!”

Will get some better photos in the sunlight this weekend

Nice build! I guess both Di2 and ER9/X users have similar seat tube battery issues, but with different solutions. I've never done the sealant before mounting the tire method. I just use a cheap 30ml squeeze bottle to get the sealant inside the rim & tire after beading. It's less messy that way!

Color does look great! No wonder my wife doesn't pay attention to me or my bikes. They're not sparkly enough!  :'( ;D

Today I finally received the frame. Almost two months. The point job was really good.

The seller did not include spacers for the headset and rubber gaskets for the holes for the  wire housings. Is this correct?

And does anyone know the torque spec for the udh?

Congrats! Did you get the frameset only? If yes, no rubber gaskets were provided and no spacers for headset. More importantly, did you get a flat or concave rear thru axle hole on the non-drive side? That will determine if you need multiple thru axle washers or not.

I got the frameset only. Where can I get the rubber gaskets? Are they necessary?

Both rear thru axle holes are concave on the non-drive side. Thru axle in front was installed with a concave washer. Thru axle in the back was installed with a concave washer and a flat washer. There was also an extra concave washer in a plastic bag. I am not sure if I am supposed to use this or not!?

The rubber gaskets can be found on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807934994017.html

If you plan on running electronic, they're not really needed. If you run mechanical, you'll have to run full cable housing, so also not really necessary. I did use one grommet for the RD hole though, but that was just to hold my eR9 battery cable in-place.

Front thru axle should be fine. Rear thru axle might have play when the rear wheel is mounted. You might need the extra washers to keep the rear wheel tight.

Took the bike out for a 130km hillly ride (1800m of climbing) out in the lanes of south east England. Other than the gears having a few teething problems everything ran perfectly

It is super quick and nimble compared to the old one and seems to be easy once up to speed. On the hills I did a real effort up a 3km drag (average 4% and a couple of 10% bits) last weekend on the old bike and I was 45 seconds quicker today for what felt like less effort (that could just be then psychological boost) and there were lots of other pbs on lots of other hills

A mixture of frames, wheels (with tubeless 32c tyres) and hydraulic discs meant it was one of the most fun rides I’ve done in a long time. Roll on next weekend!

So I ran into the first issue. I am having problem with disc caliper alignment with the rear rotor. Front was no issue. It seems to unalign when I apply torque when mounting. There is some excess paint in the area. Have any of you had any luck fixing this issue?

that is a very common problem. Carefully sand down the paint

I'd also double check if the rotor isn't true. I have a truing disc rotor tool that does wonders! In fact I have 3 different wheelsets, on 2 bikes that all run true! My disc alignment game is rock solid!

 Hi everybody,

a short update on my ride experience after I have logged 550 km. To sum it up, there is nothing to add to my first impressions. The bike feels fast, stiff and responsive. I am now able to do 60, 70 km rides at 30km/h average, what was not possible on my gravel bike. So far I have no safety concerns. This is important since I am one of the bigger guys at 88kg (10kg too much due to chips and beer after each ride). I crashed once while braking hard at a traffic light and touching the kerb - but that was due to a lack of talent and had nothing to do with the bike itself :)

The only thing I want to check more closely is the impression that descending at more than 50 km/h the bike gets a bit nervous. But, that might be due to the fact that I ride a small frame (54 at 1,81m an 86 cm inseam). But, I live in the flatlands where proper descends are rare.

My frame arrived today! I ordered on 25th of April, shipping started on 7th of May and it arrived today on the 21st of May. My first impression is really good, the paint job is flawless. I opted for a frame in size 56 in metallic matte 3 (purple) including the handlebar.

I hope I can finish the build next week, still waiting for a Elilee X310 with XCadey and a 105 group. The current weight seems ridiculous, coming from a aluminium gravel bike  ;D

Is there anything specific to keep in mind, like the Di2 battery „issue“, or anything I should check on the frame?

GG mate, nice color.

From experience, check the top tube for any damage and inspect the seatpost insert to see if there’s a step to hold the Di2 battery. As mentioned in previous posts, sand it down gradually just a little at a time. It might take a while, but it’s worth doing the job properly. One minor issue I encountered before pausing the build was the front fork brake bolt. It was a nightmare to insert it’s incredibly tight, but that’s also quite normal.

Enjoy the build

Guys, did you buy the frame on aliexpress or on the website? what is the best way?
And did someone buy the frame with the handlebar? is the handlebar good or should we chose a third party handlebar/cockpit?

AliExpress seems to be fine. You can usually apply AliExpress coupon deals to lower the price. Also if any issues arise, you can raise a dispute through the AliEx system. Buying direct, you're left at the mercy of the vendor.

I think most people bought their frame when it was frameset only. Up to you if you like the provided handle bar or you'd prefer something else. For example if you want something narrower than 38cm, you'll have to go third party cockpit.
