Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Does anyone know of other websites/companies where the vbr168 is sold, even under other name, in a similar fashion of the vbr099/Workswell WCB-R-268 Disc / Tantan ttx21?

I had the same question before I decided to place my order for the 168 (mine's waiting for the 400/90 bar).

So far, I haven't found anyone else who sells the same frame as the 168.

My conclusion from my, very limited, research is that the 168 wasn't sourced from the same designer or manufacturer as the 099 (actually, I might suspect that the 099 and all of those 268s are coming from Workswell; they have a pretty consistent in frame design, the presentations, and product numbering). Instead, the 168 is probably sourced from the same designer/manufacturer as the R-177 and GF-002 (their geometries illustrations are similar and they are coming with the same handlebar -- which is different from 099's).

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame

Is it possible to ask velobuild to put the same decal, S-works  on the frame  ??

I doubt they could do that. Generally, to these open mold vendors, custom design is a OK, real brand is not.

You can try asking them directly, but if they can't, you can always order some at your local sticker shop.

Re: your thought on Shimano Ultegra grouset on aliexpress ??? I haven't purchased any Shimano components through AliExpress, but I'd confidently buy ones if I couldn't find them in my country.

From what I know, AliExpress is against fakes. Sure, you can find fake frames, etc., but the key is in how they sell them.

If they state that it's a Shimano R8020 groupset, you can be sure that it's a legit Shimano R8020 groupset. If they don't mention the brand and the model even though the pictures show that they look like Shimano R8020 groupset, avoid them.

If you look at fake frames sold there, they won't show the complete picture, and they won't say the brand.

Also, better to look at those which have the most purchases.

If you received a fake when the seller had declared that it's not a fake, you can report them to AliExpress. You should be able to receive a refund.

Edit: here's their rules for sellers regarding counterfeit items: https://sell.aliexpress.com/en/__pc/77Y4QdcvjD.htm

Re: The Different Types of Carbon Fiber and Their Characteristics It will be nice if this thread could also explain the differences between various tensile strengths and tensile modulus, e.g., T700 T800 T1000.

Re: your thought on Shimano Ultegra grouset on aliexpress ??? As what they sell are not domestically manufactured, you won't see real saving from them. If you can find them locally, especially if they are cheaper, go get them locally as it's generally safer and quicker. Even if there's any saving after the shipping cost and duties are factored in, it'd need extra time to arrive to your door.

As the supply is chocked, some sellers might want to get some extra from their items. Use something like aliprice.com to see an item's price history.

In my opinion, AliX should not be your first option for these non-chiner products.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Arg!  I don't know if I can accept this!
It's so far from red I am speechless! I've emailed Velobuild, but not hopeful for a happy resolution.

That's definitely not red, nor any shade of red.

From the posts I've read here and on some other forums, I've made a conclusion that it's better to get one without a finish and bring it to a paint shop down the road if I am not sure about the actual color and paint I'd get -- sometimes, a can of spray paint is better. Photos might not be able to represent the paint accurately (things require calibration). If I ever wanted the vendor to paint it for me, at least I'd need have the Pantone code ready.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame Finished the build last Saturday.

My first proper road bike, my first carbon frame. Nothing fancy.

I didn't build it myself. I brought most of the components to a bike shop in the neighborhood, and let the pro do it for me.

Everything is within expectation. I am satisfied with it, although I wish I had the patience to get the frame painted and to wait for some deeper wheels.

I had a concern that it would be too aggressive for me. It turned out that, with all of the supplied spacers, it's within my comfort. I could probably afford to remove the 0.5mm spacer.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
the question is : is it the same thing : BBR60 and BB86 ????

nope. BBR60 is threaded while the frame accepts pressfit BB.

You'd need to get https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/ultegra-r8100/SM-BB72-41.html or get something with ceramic bearings while at it.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Hi there,
what do you do against the sliding seat post ???? ::)
Slipping seatpost!! My problem for quite some time.

I've tried carbon paste, but it didn't work because the problem was that there's not enough contact area between the wedge and the seatpost.

My current solution is using a pure aluminium plate. I cut the plate so it's covering the wedge with enough margins and slip it between the wedge and the post. The plate increases contact area. And I use pure aluminium as it's pretty soft so it reduces the chance to damage the seatpost.
