- Is that a chiner seat? How do you like it? I'm curious about longterm durability with those, but interested due to the price, weight, and surprisingly positive reviews in regards to comfort that I've read.

I've definitely wondered the same about that saddle, and I'm curious to hear OP's thoughts.
The saddle is crap. It's cheap and it's crap. Used the same saddle for a couple of month and it didn't hold my weight (82kg) and shown a crack. Bought one for my 8yr old son, and the same problem.

It's better to buy this one, is slightly heavier (15gr), but more durable.

Whow, that's a big step to the last cog.

Which cog did you remove ? And how's the shifting ?

In my setup, I replaced the 15T and 17T with a 16T and added a 42T cog. But the shifting was dramatic. Shifted good for the cogs, 11T - 16T, but then .... or shifted good for 19T and 42T. I guess the 16T had a wrong thickness. Now I'm riding with a Sunrace cassette, 11-42T 10sp.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: take chance on $15 NECO
« on: March 31, 2017, 07:07:11 AM »
it seems a few warn to stay away from the NECO headset, but a search shows few riders have no issue for years.
That's nonsense. The NECO headset is a good headset. The best you can get for the money. The CC isn't as twice better than the NECO. When there's water or mud in the headset, the CC is warned out as quick as the NECO.

I've got multiple NECO headset on stock. If one of the  current headsets is warned out, I'll replace it. Once in a year or two. We're all riding NECO (three chiners, three NECO's). And they last at least a year without problem.

However, I have read from a few people who drilled out the entry and exit points in the frame, and removed the inner tubing to be able to run full housing through the frame.
That's what I did on my IP-256SL. Still running smooth after 2,5 years.

Just came across this item on aliexpress.  I've bought headset bearings before, but this one is about 40% of the price of the last one I bought.  Also they have all common sizes.
When buying the bearing separately, it's not cheaper than buying a complete set.

When I buy the 41.8mm and 52mm bearing, it will costs me (4.03 + 5.33 + 1.57 =) 10.93 USD.
When buying a complete set, it will costs me 9.90 USD ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Road-Bike-Headset-1-1-8-1-1-2-Top-Cap-MTB-Tapered-Headset-Spacer-Integrated/32758312564.html ).

I do not buy expensive headsets anymore, it is waste of money, they all rust in the end( I tried Cane creek for instance ).

Instead I buy cheap ones on aliexpress for about $12-15, which are the same more or less we get with our new frames.
And change them when they do not work well anymore( often the bottom bearing fails first ).
Exactly what I do. The expensive one maybe last a little bit longer, but not that much to justify the price difference.

Recently I bought a couple of these ones for $10/each: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Road-Bike-Headset-1-1-8-1-1-2-Top-Cap-MTB-Tapered-Headset-Spacer-Integrated/32758312564.html
I recommend this shop, very good communications with Tang Zhilin.

Then put it on, and hear this nice double pop come much easier.
And to hear this nice double pop a little bit quicker, spray your tire sides with soapy water. It will pops quicker and with less tire pressure.

Another issue( for me :) ) is that inner routing of the rear derailleur and brake are tricky.
There're a lot of trics to make it really easy, like the part tool IR-1.2 ( http://www.parktool.com/product/internal-cable-routing-kit-ir-1-2 ) (which is really easy to create a DIY version with magnets and an old shifting cable) or using a vacuum cleaner and thin wire.

Hi Intellikat,
Thanks for trying something new here !
If you can, I'm looking for a gravel frame that has a very relaxed geometry( high stack, small reach ).
I'm in the same position. Peter have got a new gravel frame on his website, the CS-065, http://www.xmcarbonspeed.com/Productinfo.asp?f=1480 . I like the looks, the axles. But have doubts on the seatclamp mechanisme. And yes, the stack isn't that high.

Silenyond bib and jersy: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Siilenyond-Lancelote-Pro-Maillot-Rock-Bicycle-Wear-Summer-MTB-Cycling-Clothing-Ropa-Ciclismo-Bike-Clothing-Racing/32679893065.html - The same guys that make X-Tiger. Quality is excellent. Again, I definitely recommend these. Fitting can be weird though, but after your first order you'll get it figured out.
Your link isn't working. You were pointing to this I suppose ? https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?SearchText=Siilenyond+Lancelote+Pro+Maillot+Rock+Bicycle+MTB

Thank you guys!

Voted, but not sure how I feel about being slower than a 12 year old girl :)
I can tell you, it hurts  ;D

Done. Good luck!

It's so awesome that she's not only sharing and enjoying one of your favorite hobbies, but she's also excelling in it.. Must be quite a proud experience as a father.
I'm very proud. Not on the results, it's nice,  but the way she enjoy this sport .

Did it. Let us know the result  ;)
I do.

As the most of you already know, my daugther, Luna Cnossen, is sponsored by XMCarbonSpeed. On the last picture you can see her on her bike, sponsered by Peter, on the World Cup trail in La Bress (France).

In 2015 she became a Dutch National Champion (NK) with mountain biking as youngster.
Last year, in 2016, she did it again on her XMCarbonSpeed sponsered bike.
But also she became a Dutch National Champion with cyclocross that year.

Because of her hard work and results, she's nominated as sporting talent of 2016, as well with two other kids (gym and tennis).

She would appreciate it if you vote for her on this site: http://www.apeldoornsstadsblad.nl/pagina/sporttalent
The sport election ends on January 19th (2017).

The page is in Dutch, but if you scroll down, you will see the section where to vote (see the first picture below) and chose "Sportvrouw 1" (which means "Sportwomen 1") en press "Verzenden" (which means "Send") .

Please comment this topic when you vote for her. Thank you very much.
